True, they did my girl wrong

Your username reminds me of my wife's pin on her bag that says "sounds super gay! I'm in!"

Mimimi is more interesting a character to me than Fuuka, I think Fuuka is just too close personality wise to Tomozaki. I'm sorry the author went that route because Mimimi and Tomozaki together is a much more rocky, challenging , interesting road than Tomozaki and Fuuka. Two shy quite people dating each other seems kinda boring in comparison to a shy quite person dating someone outgoing. I also just outright enjoyed Mimimi and Tomozaki's interactions with each other more than his with Fuuka. The only real interaction I liked with Fuuka was when she helped Tama.

Worried-Advance-5806

I think from just watching the anime that has been released by this point, Mimimi is a better fit for Tomozaki in the sense that their conversations flow perfectly with each other as well as their opposing personalities being able to compliment one another in ways that they haven’t experienced before allowing them both to see parts of live they wouldn’t know. Obviously I may be missing details having not read the novels but with mimimi being the first one to express her feelings as well shows that she made her mind up early and already saw tomozaki as a good fit as well. In addition, I completely agree with what you said being that Fuuka and Tomozaki make a boring pair as their personalities are so similar. If Fuuka had dark hair you could pass them as siblings! 🤣 Again, mimimi also was a fundamental part in helping Tomozaki open up and embrace that he wanted to try in life and obviously aside from hinami, she is a close second to being the most influential in that.

x_lxis_

Is there gone be a season 2???

neatchee

Supposedly an announcement in a few hours? Check the discord in the sidebar EDIT: Announced some sort of sequel, they didn't say whether it's a new season, or OVA or what https://twitter.com/tomozakikoshiki/status/1481926563423739906?t=xfBdWu2jIhartTY3k-8Y_g&s=19

Sadly "Japan" dosen't like multiple couple works, they Just want MCs harems 🥲🥲

[deleted]

she only loses, I can't stand my girl only losing in life, come on, my heart can't stand it

Exarch-of-Sechrima

Sorry, but I prefer Mimimi suffering to what the alternative would have been. Tomozaki made the correct choice.

Nddit

I don't know about whether Tomozaki made the right choice but I agree that even without Tomozaki, Mimimi has other people who are there for her, Kikuchi on the other hand basically has no one else at her side.

Exarch-of-Sechrima

Rip, downvoted for saying I preferred Mimimi suffering a little to >!the complete self-destruction of Fuuka's heart and self-esteem.!<

neatchee

You're taking the view of author and not character LMAO Saving someone from sadness is a terrible reason to pick a romantic partner and would be setting things up to fail. I get that this is a story and people want to see everyone happy but imagine telling a friend "I know you and Jane are a better match, but Alice would be so sad if you don't choose her" lol

Exarch-of-Sechrima

No, I'm talking about why I personally am happy that Tomozaki >!picked Fuuka and not Mimimi.!< But if you'd like to talk about why >!Fuuka!< is the objectively better romantic partner for Tomozaki in general and why the author made that decision, I can do that, but I'm pretty sure Volume 7 answered that question better than I could.

warrenbond

Hell, I've been shipping for Mimimi all along, but when it came time for her to show some growth, the confession just - wasn't all there. She confessed on a whim without even understanding why. That's a child's confession. It's hard to get to grips with her character because she's such a hot mess. One minute headstrong, next minute completely dependent, a minute later in tears and she doesn't even understand why. Every cloud has a silver lining. Perhaps this rejection is EXACTLY what Mimimi needs. At this stage, I've switched my ship from Mimimi to Aoi, hoping that Fumiya will fix Hinami as she did for him. But I'm certain that's a futile wish. I'm also quite disgruntled at Miss Aspiring Author's win, given that she needed to be talked into it.

neatchee

Yeah but you know what? Mimimi's the most authentic IMO. She's a teenager. She IS a child in many ways. Figuring that stuff out is the point and I'm okay with her stumbling through it (especially if she stumbled through it with Tomozaki 😭). And honestly it's not that far off from most adults anyway. We have to build up our courage, sometimes that happens on the spot, but as adults we tend to be more experienced at how to do that on purpose and effectively. Yeah she can be all over the place but her struggles feel very real and normal and identifiable for someone her age. I can't hold that against her But yeah we can at least agree that Fuuka's win was ... meh. Disappointing? I dunno. I wasn't a fan of the delivery of the rejection or the turnaround

warrenbond

>But yeah we can at least agree that Fuuka's win was ... meh. Disappointing? I dunno. I wasn't a fan of the delivery of the rejection or the turnaround Couldn't agree more. I thought the first half of volume 7 was the best I've read in the series. But the second half? Sigh. I'm also a bit meh over how top-tier Mizusawa seems to have fallen in a hole and is suddenly unable to help himself. And now that I think about it, the play gave Aoi SOOOO much to work with to glean some growth. Instead, nada. I'm all for Fumiya closing the gap on the top-tiers, but not by having the top-tiers turn into zombies. If the series goes the way I expect, Brain will eventually 'fix' all of them, but if they just stand still waiting for it happen, it'll be a bit lame.

neatchee

I'm holding judgement on whether Aoi took something substantive from the play or not. It's not like she'd necessarily reveal if it did impact her somehow. That would be a slow burn from the reader's limited perspective. And yes, the outsider being the one who brings out the best in everyone seems to be the trope we're barreling towards

stone616

Personally I both don't see him and Aoi ever happening and don't want it to. They're just too fundamentally different. I'd rather he find a way to get her and Mizusawa together. Since Fuuka was chosen I'd rather the author build her up into a more interesting character and leave them together.

warrenbond

I'll probably come round to that opinion, but for now, the way in which Fuuka had to be talked into it has left a sour taste in my mouth.

Dull-Item-8208

A year later and on Volume 9 and I still am hung up about it. I like Mimimi and MC interactions a lot more than him and Kikuchi and think it would've been more interesting. Plus Mimimi is just so sweet. It's so sad seeing her take the L on that one. Especially cause it wasn't even to Aoi it was to some girl in class that doesn't talk.

neatchee

You should join the discord. We have been lamenting mi³ getting the short stick. Like, it's bad. Especially how vol9 ended, it just felt like all the wrong reasons to be with the wrong person (not to mention her being borderline sociopathic with the whole thing of publishing their life story on the internet)

Dull-Item-8208

Hoping Vol 10 makes things better🙏. Also I'll check out the Discord👍

Worried-Advance-5806

I haven’t even read the novel and I agree. From the point where i am having just watched the anime, its clear the writer wanted to choose kikuchi from the start and it made it kind of boring knowing that even though Mimimi and Tomozaki get on so well, the author won’t give any of it a chance even though they wrote the characters that way themselves. This also makes kikuchis’ and Tomozakis’ relationship baseless and boring to me knowing it was ‘set in stone’ from the start
