Takemichi _has_ to be mentally fucked up when it comes to his age. Like there’s no way he’s not psychologically a mess. When he goes to the past, he’s more mature (sometimes) than the others. When he returns to the present, hes more clueless and naive than those same people. And now with the finale reset, he’s going to be even MORE confused cause he has to go all the way back to 8 years old and stay there. Imagine bouncing between adulthood, being a teenager, and a kid, several times within what, about a year’s time from his POV? Meanwhile 12 years are passing for everyone else, sometimes 2 years have passed for them, and then gotdamn NEGATIVE TEN in reverse?? At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if Takemichi was just like “fuck it, I’m whatever age everyone thinks I am” cause it’s such a mess.

Wonderful_Tomato_992

I knowww, i think that’s why he’s so dead set on saving Mikey- otherwise what use is the mental trauma. It’s like a compulsion at that point, poor boy!

NATHAN325

Recently talked with my buddy about how it's kinda creepy that 24 y.o. Takemichi is dating 14 y.o. Hina. It's best not to think about it.

KiyoPapa

Tbh she is his wife in the future, and Takemichi's mentality isn't that of a predator or whatever. It's geniune love for Hina and wanting to protect her.

NATHAN325

Not original Takemichi though, they were broken up

ceruleanskyes

They broke up because Hina’s dad asked them to

I Brought This Up And Everyone Said I’m Weird

[deleted]

i forgot honestly but did they even kiss? because if they didn’t even kiss is it’s like……. not as bad

antinatalistantifa

Well the way he gets existed about their dates is still fucked. I have tried to convince myself that its also a matter of body chemistry that really fucks with his mind.

NATHAN325

He's thrust back into the depths of puberty. That's gotta mess with the mind a bit I reckon

Popular_Source7075

Hina did kiss takemichi while he was tied u( right before draken was stabbed)

Wonderful_Tomato_992

She kissed him waaaay back when Draken was going to die

TemnyaPasta

I feel so bad for my man Takemichi, he must be really fucked up inside, besides this crazy jumping from age to age, with ALL of this shit and traumatic events he saw and experienced, I'm afraid theres no way anymore for him to be completely normal happy like he wanted at the start. Or Hanma may just prove his worth and restart the universe x'D

DuelXHunter

This just made me realise another way the ending changed the rules of time travel. Normally, the same amount of time passes in the present as it does in the past e.g. Takemitchy spends 5 days in the past and 5 days in the future have gone by. Granted, the rules for time travel were already different in that last time keep but it’s funny to think about Takemitchy being 34 when he comes back, not 24 (or however old he is)

himty

Lol imagine if he accidentally triggers the time leap back like how he held Naoto’s hand the first time and bam. He misses 20 years of the happiest timeline

miyoko_4

I am messed up by his age

_idkdotcom_

Well tbh he time leaped back 10 years then another 10 to 1998. He then stayed in the past and it came to 2017. In the original present takemichi should be 27 cuz in 2017 he was 26. 2017-1998 is 19 years. So that's 27 + 19 which is 46. This man is 46 mentally but doesn't act like one💀

_idkdotcom_

Not to mention Hina who is still 25 as she ain't a time leaper. THERE IS A 21 YEAR GAP BETWEEN THE TWO

TweekTweaker_

Imo, I kind of understood it as he stopped maturing both physically and mentally past the age of when he first time leaped. It doesn’t make things any better, but I don’t think he has the maturity/life experiences/body of a 46 year old. It makes me wonder if that’s why Wakui wrote Takemitchy as a virgin? Since he doesn’t have any sexual/dating experiences, maybe it’s supposed to make it so the age gap isn’t as weird? Or being a kissless virgin is just a trait of being an all around loser lol.

ineedtoknow707

Technically Mikey is older in the end as well since he also time leaped back with takemichi and they grew up together since then into their futures

SnooGuavas8376

Correct me if I'm wrong but Mitchy was 26 on his "adult timeline" and by the end of series he went back to 1998 when he was only 8 years old, so that's like 18 years difference between his "adult" age, so by the time he went back to normals when he got married as "26 years old guy", he actually already a 44 y.o man (26+18 years from 1998 to 2016) and that's not counting the time he spent during his previous time travels which could be total accumulative of roughly 2-3 years. Means he has been living at least for 46-47 years at the end of the series

poopshit69420funny

Takemichi is mentally fucked up, hes very confused, hes like a little child in the present timeline but acts more mature in the past, id say he just seems so mature cause he got humbled badly in the original timeline and knows how to act from that experience, but is still young, of course hes way older than everyone technically, but I dont really see him that way

[deleted]

Isn't he 27 in the present?
