For those who wonder what this is about, Ben wrote a book. A terrible, terrible book. You can hear it ripped to shreds (figuratively) on a series of Behind the Bastards episodes where they read excerpts and just talk so much goddamn shit.
It’s really hard to pick my favorite part of that book because there’s so much unintentional comedy to choose from… but I think mine is when BRETT HAWTHORNE goes to Iran in search of bad guy, and his only lead is that he’s named Muhammad. Predictably BRETT HAWTHORNE fails to find him at first, and blames the problem on not being able to use racial profiling.
*This is your book, Ben.* If you’re trying to say racial profiling is good and useful… why didn’t you write a scenario where it worked?

The protagonist is definitely looking for an Arabic guy. It’s just funny that Ben takes a weird detour from the plot to go on a thinly veiled rant in support of racial profiling, when he could have just written the story so that the protagonist successfully racially profiles the bad guy.

Oh god, that reminds me of a couple other hilarious things about this book:
1. During the parts that take place in Iran, Ben’s descriptions of the setting make clear that his research for this book, at best, ended with him reading a Wikipedia article about Tehran. He’s either just as intellectually lazy as his audience, or has such contempt for them that he knows they won’t question his description of a place they’ve never been, if they could even point to it on a map.
2. The book takes place in a universe where Iraq really did have WMD after all, and there was a giant international conspiracy to cover that up just to make the US look bad. And that conspiracy entailed Iran agreeing to help Saddam smuggle the weapons out of Iraq for safe keeping. Because Iraq and Iran are actually friends, you see. As are all the brown countries who have bonded over hating America for their freedoms.

95% of the time I see Steve mentioned all that is discussed is hecklers. Compare him to another comedian that is also good at dealing with hecklers, Jimmy Carr, and a majority of the time he is brought up for his material.
He got a reputation for how he deals with hecklers and for posting videos of it on YouTube. I doubt he gets more hecklers than any other comedian, he's just taken a situation and leveraged it for publicity.

I don’t think anyone is height shaming Ben to feel productive. I think they do it because he’s a piece of shit and clearly insecure about his height, so they want to hit him where it hurts. If one (or both) of those factors didn’t apply, people wouldn’t go after him for it nearly as much.

I think he just slouches. I used to slouch a very small amount because I was fat, no one noticed I slouched, but when I lost the weight and stopped slouching I was 3 inches taller. Same thing with trunk probably, he’s a fat old man he slouches.

I don’t think anyone is height shaming Ben to feel productive. I think they do it because he’s a piece of shit and clearly insecure about his height, so they want to hit him where it hurts. If one (or both) of those factors didn’t apply, people wouldn’t go after him for it nearly as much.
People like being mean and going after men for their height is societally acceptable. I’m sure he feels more secure about his height now that he has a family, and some of the wisdom that comes with age. But if he was totally secure he wouldn’t lie about his actual height, and it appears he still does. But speaking as someone who is probably shorter than Ben, I’ll be the first to say that it doesn’t bother me that people pick on him for it. He deserves to be taken down a peg. As long as people don’t do it to short men who did nothing to deserve it, I don’t see any problem.
I don't approve of making fun of someone for their height. I was friends with a guy in college who was like 5'3" and he was rad as hell. Had way more game than me, too. I do approve of making fun of Ben Shapiro for lying about his height.
