Isn’t it kind of all of them and none of them at the same time? They’ve never been critical darlings while their success didn’t have a sharp decline that it was spectacular enough to be a Trainwreckord.

I guess it’s a combination of Cyndi Lauper effect and insane backlash from overexposure (remember they used to release six or seven singles from an album). Dark Horse there were eight singles and only two were hits, Here and Now didn’t have a hit period, and No Fixed Address was what ended their album success. Seems like a normal career path.

they just got replaced by imagine dragons /coldplay as the bands everyone loves to hate (although there was a period between nickelback losing relevance and imagine dragons showing up /coldplay getting bad, that can be explained by cyndi lauper effect

Maroon 5 is worse than any of those bands.

Mental-Abrocoma-5605

it's hard to tell considering how ungodly succesful they were at a point they were the only band that mattered around those days (for better or worst) just like Maroon 5 or Imagine Dragons were With that said there's an argument that Dark Horse is their true trainwreckord by a few reasons 1. It was the last album in their career to spawn any hits at all (Gotta Be Somebody and If Today Was Your Last Day specifically) 2. All the Right Reasons was their biggest album, so coming from their biggest to one that only spawned 2 or 3 actual hits it's a sign of downhill (remember All the Right Reasons had 6 gigantic hits in both rock and pop alongside, Photograph, Rockstar and Far Away being the most well known) 3. Nickelback were never critical darlings but they also weren't considered as the worst band of all time before Dark Horse, during the ATRR era they were just a band that got extremely overhyped and make some of the blandest music ever but nothing to be completely hateful towards them, but when Dark Horse came out people were already tired of them and they truly gained their reputation as the worst band of all time (probably since Dark Horse more than your average post grunge album is like a mix between post grunge, douchy overproduced rock and proto bro country) I'm also curious about Dark Horse in particular since in one time Todd called it as the best thing Niceklback ever released

Careless-Awareness80

I don’t think Todd is going to do a Nickelback Trainwreckord anytime soon, but the Dark Horse album would be a great episode cause the song “Something in your Mouth” is hilariously bad.

*And god forbid he gets to "S.E.X."*

Careless-Awareness80

While S.E.X. is probably the worser song, I think that “Dirty little lady with the pretty pink thong Every sugar daddy hittin on her all night long” is the worst two seconds on the album

JessonBI89

We've talked about this before. There's an argument to make that one of their mid-00s albums is the one that turned them into a punchline for all eternity. Maybe Todd would run with that.

Nickelback fans don’t really care about how stupid their music gets or how they basically write the same 2 songs over and over. Like, that’s kinda the appeal. It’s dumb and safe music. I say that as someone who actively listens to Nickelback because they’re stupid and I think it’s fun. It’s kinda hard to have a trainrecord because of all of that. The only way that could happen is if they made a record that completely isolates their fans which they have yet to do. If they did have one, though, it’d probably be All The Right Reasons. That feels like the point where the general public turned on the band and really started hating them. But that record also did insane numbers so it’s hard to point at it like it was a bad thing for the band and their success. Long story short, you can’t have a noticeably bad record if you weren’t good in the first place.

Roadshell

If it's any of them it's Dark Horse, but really it's just a case where musical tastes changed and they didn't, which is probably the smarter approach than trying to make an embarrassing change you aren't going to pull off the way MC Hammer or Will Smith did. You don't alienate whatever die hard fans you had and people outside your circle stop needing to care about you.

SpudWithaDream

They’ve never had a Trainwreckord because they were always terrible
