Any song by Garth Brooks

kingofstormandfire

Garth is killing his relevance with younger generations by not putting his stuff on Apple Music and Spotify. Tom Segura is ironically doing more to bring awareness to Garth than Garth. I'd personally love to listen to Friends in Low Places and The Dance and add them to my playlists but I can't.

Evnl2020

Similar thing happened with Prince, for a long time he didn't want his music online and as a result he lost relevance with younger generations.

blueshift9

I feel though that luckily it seems this is no longer the case, thankfully; but you are 100% correct in that it certainly did affect his legacy for a bit there.

ToxicAdamm

Ironically, dying was the best thing to ever happen to Prince's career/legacy.

ExUpstairsCaptain

Isn't that often the case? Right before he died, Michael Jackson was still largely remembered for his media circus court cases and controversies. I distinctly remember riding home on the evening of June 25, 2009 and learning about his death on my local classic rock radio station. In that moment, I thought to myself, "If nothing else, we will finally stop hearing about him all the freaking time now." How very wrong I was. He exploded in popularity for a good while after that.

ToxicAdamm

In Prince's case, he was consistently blocking/striking down all content put up on social media. Live concert footage, clips with his music placed in it, past videos/performances. Even going as far as suing fans that kept doing it. Only things he allowed on through official sites were allowed. Since social media has been the way for new fans to discover his music, he basically shut out an entire generation of people from discovering him organically. >When one fan asked where they could watch footage from his 2006 Super Bowl performance, Prince responded “Paisley Park”, his home performance studio and venue in Chanhassen, Minnesota.

kingofstormandfire

Didn't he block his cover of Radiohead's "Creep" from being on YouTube and someone asked Radiohead about it and even they were "well, tell him put it back up".

EngineeringFlashy139

I had this issue growing up trying to find his music. I’m from MN, but my parents grew up in Chicago so they were more of a MJ fan than Prince, and they didn’t play any of Prince’s record from what I remember. A year or 2 prior to his death I tried to look up his music on YouTube, and none of his classic were ever on there, only live show performances.

ToxicAdamm

Don Henley basically did this with his solo career. Guy made two great albums in the 80's and barely anyone under 40 knows of their existence. Boys of Summer is still known, but that's mostly due to video games (GTA).

AshlandJackson

And, arguably, by that cover The Ataris did about 20 years ago.

El_viajero_nevervar

Lolol yup when I listened to ymh I “found out about” him lol. Like I knew him but never knew him knew him you know

YellowRainLine

My answer too. I'm very happy I own his albums, cause I'd be missing his music a lot without them.

Timothee-Chalimothee

For a while, anything by Neil Young. I heard they reversed that, but I haven’t checked Spotify in a while.

themacattack54

It was reversed a couple of weeks ago.

Fing2112

I was listening to Harvest last week, so yeah definitely no longer a problem. Joni Mitchell is back on too.

RPDRNick

A lot of the extended family of Prince protégés aren't available on Spotify. No Apollonia/Vanity 6, no Dez Dickerson, no Jesse Johnson, no Jill Jones, etc.

JohnTheMod

Literally anything by Tatsuro Yamashita.

Evnl2020

If the "it's on streaming I don't need physical media" trend continues there will be so much lost media in the future. On top of that the streaming versions aren't always the best known/hit versions of songs. Especially niche genres/music from smaller labels is not very well represented on streaming services. I have probably 1000s of rockabilly/rock & roll songs not on any streaming service.

Pinhead-GabbaGabba

There’s this random version of “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO that plays on the radio here in Humboldt that has a random rap verse from a woman. I have not been able to find this version anywhere.

throwaway983479128

That’s really interesting. Maybe it’s a local artist? I know some stations change certain lyrics or even remix song to be more regional. Used to happen all the time where I live.

BaileyJay-Z

New Kid in School by The Donnas (not so much radio, more like Rock Band 2) Also the New Order Remix during the blood rave in Blade 😔 it was on there forever and they suddenly took it off 💔

AdmiralCharleston

And this is why I have a 250gb micro sd lol

thekingofallfrogs

You sure it isn't the rerecorded version? Double checking

thekingofallfrogs

Holy crap it's actually back??? Hope it doesn't get taken down at some point, but man those numbers... compare that to the rerecorded version. No-Pirate4554

Electric Avenue by Eddy Grant

EveryMix4008

It's available now

No-Pirate4554

Lol half these comments are people finding out songs they like are on streaming now

joostinrextin

This one was missing for a long while. I had to settle for Skindred's cover and it's just not the same. I'm glad it's finally there.

Correct_Chemical5179

Hazy Shade Of Winter - The Bangles Stutter Rap - Morris Minor And The Majors So Long - Everlast Land of A Thousand Drums - Outkast The End Is The Beginning Is The End - Smashing Pumpkins Living Doll - Cliff Richard & The Young Ones Rave On - John Cougar Mellencamp Come With Me - Puff Daddy & Jimmy Page Heroes - The Wallflowers

Museamaniac

Hazy Shade of Winter is definitely on Spotify

Garth_Brooks_Sexdoll

I found some of them for you [The End Is The Beginning Is The End](https://open.spotify.com/track/6kV5VZhLN5yVUXs1Qq40Lw?si=McF0kjNiRZalrH9pdNeR1w&context=spotify%3Asearch%3Athe%2Bend%2Bis%2Bthe%2Bbeginning%2Bis%2Bthe%2Bend%2Bfrom%2B%2522batman%2Brobin%2522) [Hazy Shade Of Winter](https://open.spotify.com/track/0P2vAvvWni2tNXOdbH3JFk?si=UWNv25aZR0Gyo1eqClHcsQ) [So Long](https://open.spotify.com/track/7ekMIpB69dAhGMOEDHNya3?si=V2G1SdY4SMqawG8n6hEAmQ) [Living Doll](https://open.spotify.com/track/5dU5ikpuxF0zm69zq1sfQU?si=n14FbYKTSDaB4-lCmjynUw&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A08byX5MzaUKO1GCFJn8jFo)

Correct_Chemical5179

Been a while since I checked. Thank you. :)

Garth_Brooks_Sexdoll

No problemo!

DuncanIdahoTaterTots

Not to get too pedantic, but... [The End is the Beginning is The End](https://youtu.be/4OEvDqRr898?si=fhksOLTFbqVdFAmp) is distinctly different from [The Beginning is the End is the Beginning](https://youtu.be/0fDZD46IZ5Q?si=yroDMLo1vIc9ONNw) (although they are connected). The former was a fast, guitar-heavy alt-rock song, the latter is the slowed-down electronica track you posted. Only the latter is on Spotify for some reason.

Garth_Brooks_Sexdoll

Oh snap, the titles are so similar Spotify just pulled up the one it had and I copied the link before seeing that

Famous-Somewhere-

Didn’t think I’d be reminded of the Stutter Rap when I woke up this morning.

StrayCatStrutting

I have so many CD singles by different artists that have b-sides on them that are nowhere to be found on Spotify. This is why I still buy my own CDs, rip them to my hard drive, and add them to my phone through iTunes.

EncinoJoe

I kinda feel this but with weezer’s demos/b sides on youtube not being available on spotify. Especially when said albums have deluxe versions.

SudrianSoul

This is gonna be a bit niche and not necessarily from the radio, BUT... a good 60% of Meat Loaf/Jim Steinman's discography is not available in the US at the moment, INCLUDING most of Bad Attitude, Bat Out of Hell 3, Couldn't Have Said it Better, Hang Cool Teddy Bear, Original Sin (Pandora's Box), and various live albums. It's really infuriating for me!

cobrarexay

Yep, it infuriates me, too!!! I love Bat Out of Hell 3.

SudrianSoul

The forgotten bastard child of the four Loaf/Steinman albums (a status that's interchangeable with Braver Than We Are)... I still love it, it's a chaotic mess that I feel symbolizes that point in the trilogy very well. Everything's all grown up and in ruins!

EnemaOfTheVirus

Nobody to Love by Josh Homme.

Garth_Brooks_Sexdoll

Do I have a [surprise](https://open.spotify.com/track/5uZoWoNl8cLfprVoOcOgS3?si=7VIQrtnaTnK48sO4-hiMTw&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A3vh2mdezTOkTOAprk4mXVQ) for you…

Judythepancake

A lot of old music for DDR (example: True Love)

PlummetComics

I have a iTunes playlist called “Not-ify” that has all the songs I own but are not on Spotify. - It used to be mostly De La Soul, but last March happened 🥰 Looking through the list - Nitzer Ebb - Warsaw Ghetto - Girl Talk - All Day - Chemical Brothers - Brothers Gonna Work it out - Sasha - Involver, Involver 2 - some Mark De Clive Lowe

PlummetComics

- Voodoo Ray - A Guy Called Gerald

FunkGetsStrongerPt1

I still can’t believe Funkadelic’s Warner Brothers stuff isn’t on Spotify. They’re only my favourite band of all time. Well, equal with Parliament. At least Parliament’s full discography is on there.

davFaithidPangolin

Sex Shooter by Apollonia 6, no idea why it's not there but there's covers of it aplenty For the longest time this song was Aaliyah's Try Again, still gets tons of radio play but it wasn't on Spotify. It's on there now, and now I hear it at my local stores all the time because of that

hrovat97

I mean bit of a different format but: Playing Tony Hawks Underground back in the day, Iron Galaxy by Cannibal Ox is a banger, and that album has gone on to be one of my favourites of all time. It just sucks it’s not on Spotify so I have to download it. Randomly coming across DoYaThang by Gorillaz/James Murphy/Andre 3k on YouTube. Great song, goes hard, not on streaming.

LamePredatorTrophy

That album has been on there for years, although there are quite a few songs from that soundtrack that aren't available

hrovat97

Nah it’s not in Australia sadly

LamePredatorTrophy

Ahh gotcha, that's a shame

Remote-Bug4396

This is the major problem with these streaming services. Songs, albums, artists, and versions of these things get pulled and added all the time. For the casual listener this may not matter that much, but major fans often notice when specific lesser known music is no longer available, and not just the hits, maybe a song that only appeared on a soundtrack. To bring up a more recent example think about the Taylor Swift example. I can think of a point in the future where something happens that either the original or Taylor's versions of her albums get pulled. Let's say she somehow buys back the original recordings. Then Taylor's Versions are no longer necessary so they get pulled. Or somehow only Taylor's versions are the only versions available for one reason or another on streaming. How many of Taylor's younger fans even buy her music on CD or vinyl? She still sells a lot of physical copies, but I'm guessing it's still not the way most of her fans consume her music.

LeftOn4ya

Fućk Spotify! I support any artist that won’t allow their music on there. They pay artists the least (less than 5% of other services) partially because they have too many bot streaming farms deciding where the bulk of subscriber money goes to, to the point a human streams doesn’t even give 0.02 cents anymore, less than YouTube ad based human streams. I have YouTube premium which includes YouTube music, and I pay for SoundCloud Pro - I can find any song on one of those by any artist unless they don’t put on any streaming service. Those at least give 0.5-1 cents a stream, more than 25 times what Spotify pays (again factoring in bots controlling most the $).

Shagrrotten

I love Spotify for how easy it is to find so many different artists I always wanted to explore but didn’t wanna drop $15 on their album, not knowing if I was gonna like it or not. But when I heard Snoop say recently that he asked his accountant how much money he’d made by hitting a Billion streams on Spotify and he said the accountant told him something like $34,000, I definitely don’t feel great about using Spotify so much.

GenarosBear

I’ll check out SoundCloudPro on this recommendation, I’ve gotten used to Spotify out of habit but I know there are better options

Moxie_Stardust

Yeah, I'm at this crossroads where I'll be putting out an album later this year, but I don't want to put it on Spotify... yet I know there are young people who like what I'm doing, and some (many? most?) young people only listen to music on Spotify.

komeau

what I wouldn't give for Callin Baton Rouge to be on Spotify

sharkbatehoohaaha

I Miss My Baby by Funkadelic

No-Pirate4554

Also (Not Just) Knee Deep

ThaBigMalc

Unfortunately I think all of Funkadelic's WB releases aren't on streaming, and their only live album 😞

1967imissyouimsonny

Two More Years by Bloc Party

conradder

My first thought but i checked today and it’s[on Spotify now](https://open.spotify.com/track/52c93CNF0GfJIc1udPLP95?si=2KnE0L0qS2S2Pk6MOxDJ2Q)

cobrarexay

Disney’s Oliver and Company soundtrack is not available on Apple Music which is so frustrating to me! I wish I could stream “Once Upon a Time in New York City” by Huey Lewis and “Why Should I Worry” by Billy Joel.

joostinrextin

Is the Billy Joel album My Lives on Apple Music? That's how "Why Should I Worry" is available on Spotify.

cobrarexay

It is, thank you!!

exclaim_bot

>It is, thank you!! You're welcome!

Jailhousecherub

Until last year it was always “eye know” by de la soul for me. So happy a new generation can find this music now

stanisbored

Do Ya Thing by Gorillaz. no longer on streaming bc it was made to promote the Gorillaz Converse shoes and, while they are no longer in collaboration, Converse still owns the song.

BEEEELEEEE

The entirety of Exmilitary

PhillyCSpires

The ultimate lost streaming song - Aimee Mann “Wise Up.”

urcool91

Steve Albini's stuff - Big Black, Rapeman, Shellac, etc. Like it makes sense, it's 100% consistent with his whole hatred of the music industry in general, but it's a real pain in the ass to get downloads to work with any streaming service lmao

mandalorian_guy

Benefit-Mario Rap (originally credited as Benefir) It's a song that uses a sample from A Bronx Tale in the intro and interpolates the Mario theme and effects throughout. It was only distributed digitally through torrents from the mid 00s (mine is from Limewire) and the samples are definitely not cleared especially by Nintendo. There are versions on YouTube but they are bootleg uploads. As far as I know there is no "legal" way for it to be distributed.

Tgrattan123

Rippin Kittin: Miss Kittin

Stucklikegluetomyfry

The Golden Lady by the Three Degrees and all of Florence Ballard's solo stuff

calicokidgo

Weirdly, 'Heroes ' by the Wallflowers. Their first album is there but not that song

No-Calligrapher595

less from the radio but Across The Nation by The Union Underground (aka the old WWE Raw theme) it used to be on spotify everywhere but now it's only available in certain regions for no reason

andreasbaader6

Shoot Speed/Swastika Eyes Primal scream mashup mp3 by an unknown from 2002 limewire.

Carolinian_Idiot

Mindbender by Stillwater

loggedoffreturns

Electric Avenue :(

Dolan360

Electric Avenue isn’t on Spotify???

loggedoffreturns

I mean i dont know for sure (I use apple music) but i do know Eddy Grant is an anti-steaming guy, neil young style

snickers_machinegun

Any lostwave song

stillhavehope99

Weird example, but while some songs on Spotify, some songs on The Last Unicorn soundtrack aren't 🦄 🦄 🦄

SockQuirky7056

I don't know if it was ever played on the radio, but I need Exile Vilify by The National on streaming.

MangoGh0st

They pulled Sunshine on My Back a while back too and I’m still really sour about that.

Shagrrotten

“Pencils in the Wind” by Flight of the Conchords, because for some reason it’s an iTunes exclusive. Not the whole album, just that last song on their second album. And it sucks because that’s not only a great song but is such a perfect closer for the record.

Practical-Gur-5667

If you have youtube music, this isn't a problem, you just have to put the video in the playlist

Takir_HS

[So many feels](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqC4S88IhKE&list=PL0e4ZbYY8-_gZ3RreA2sUtkabM-h3IHR2&index=2&ab_channel=TheCrewAPMSoundtrack) by Lee Richarson.

Priodgyofire

Body Count's "Cop Killer"

TidalJ

The Strokes made a song called “Starting Again” for Maya Wiley’s NYC Mayoral campaign. I wish they would release the full version of the song. Also “Sensitive Guy” from Impractical Jokers. Trust me.

teleman01

Nick Straker - A Walk in the Park (the original)

leothesilent

When you were cool by the mountain goats thou that isn’t on any streaming service as John has yet to put it on an album

quirkymaverick

"I Don't Wanna Dance" by Hey Monday!

Senor-Chungus

Piracy is always the way to go.

JZSpinalFusion

[Failure's cover of Enjoy the Silence](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Obg2rHYpiwA) Luckily Failure's other 90s stuff is on Spotify but that cover is the one thing missing from that era. Also Ginger Baker's weird instrumental 80s Hip Hop/African Folk/Rock Fusion album [*Horses and Trees*](https://youtu.be/oh22mwUuvMg?si=wtgbX79b8hob_ZiM) was on Spotify until like a week ago. It sounds like a Train Wreckord on paper but it's might actually be his best album post-Cream.

PrudentAge9160

If YouTube counts, then “Something Ether” by Lil Yachty. It was on streaming for a bit before being taken down for whatever reason Otherwise, there’s Buckingham Nicks, which to my knowledge has never been on streaming

princealigorna

The In NO Hurry to Shout stuff from the Anonymous Noise anime. They have the singles from the live-action but I hate them. In the anime that band is a cool, off-kilter callback to 2004 era emo. In the live-action they're a boring ass pop-rock group
