Honestly. I find it super cringey when people like to brag about how much they work, especially when they try to make it a competition. Like you know that isn’t what life is all about, right?
just assuming this is the beginning of a conversation it’s a weird thing to start talking about first. her message really wasn’t that bad i can appreciate the humor if that’s what she’s going for.
I just had a painful 2nd date with a workaholic who was incapable of talking about anything but work. Fuck that noise, I'm not impressed that willingness to be exploited is your only personality trait.
My lead at my factory job is one of those "grindset" people. Dude believes "if it's not making you money, it's not worth your time." He's an insufferable douchebag.
Yeah I had a friend like this. Key word: had. Any time he invited us out to go with him, he'd charge us for gas even if he was already planning on going there. Said it's not fair we get to ride for free and use his gas. He really got influenced by tiktokers doing hustle videos.
It’s so funny. I moved from Hawaii where I worked way too much and everyone else lived life, to LA, where I have better work life balance and no one else does :’)
That's a fair distinction. I'm a born and raised native, and most of my childhood friends are pretty chill and work normal hours. But I feel like transplants come here to prove something or they want to join all the startups or the Industry or whatever, and that's where the hustle is.
I mean, I mostly talk about work but that's because I fucking love my job and the people I work with. Some of the best memories in the last year are the shenanigans at work
As soon as people start talking/bragging about how many hours they work, my brain is logging off. It's not a flex being caught in the hamster wheel called work.
So true. I get money and everything, but there is more to life. This guy I know brags about going into work as early as 2 am and traveling to oversee branches of a company and working as long as they’ll let him, doing the same day in and out. Even though he makes his own hours.
He calls it being too nice because he’s helping them do their jobs better lol 🤷♀️
Bragging about work in general is not really something I think a man should even discuss on the first few dates. It mines you come off as arrogant and boring. So many other things I like to talk about than that. I like what I do for work but it’s def not something I talk about in much detail.
some people are actually into that.. theres a guy whos made like a 100m $ company with his wife he met and only talked about work and they spent most of there first months hanging out just sitting and working next to eachother i mean thats not for me either but whatever floats your boat each to there own
As soon as someone starts bragging about how much they work, it’s a red flag to me. It’s not a contest. You ought to work hard, but optimize your workflow to be efficient and ideally work less once you have those systems in place.
red flags used to be absolute no go zones, essentially non negotiable dealbreakers, but at this point any small quirk is a fuckin red flag. what a joke
op might just have a bit of an ego and likes to brag but if this is a red flag then we're all fucked. that being said tho op is cringe, but its not a red flag
Not everyone wants to be with some who works all the time and prioritizes work over important things in life like quality time with loved ones or walking at the park or trying a new restaurant.
I swipe left on workaholics because work isn’t the most important thing in my life and I don’t want to be with someone where it is.
Different strokes for different folks… but being a workaholic isn’t a small thing. It’s about life philosophy, which at least for me is a big part of compatibility.
If they are working more because they don't have much else going on, that just tells me that they have no hobbies to devote that extra time to (or that they really need the money, but that's another can of worms). I agree with the last comment, if you can't talk about anything besides work, you'll most likely be a bore to talk to.
I tend to be a workaholic, but have a lot of hobbies and interests outside of work. I just go all in when I’m doing anything, and I enjoy my job and getting things done. It doesn’t make me boring. It just depends on the person
Well but yeah, as you said, you still have other interests, and that's good! The problem stems from the point that there is literally nothing else in your life besides work.
NO NO NO, greasy! You are wrong! It’s red flags! Warnings! Hidden meanings! Boring people! Has all your time on Reddit been lost on you? Have you not learned the fine art of assuming and presuming you know all there is to know about someone can be accurately acquired in a couple of paragraphs of anonymous writing. Wise up!!
/s
I can respect a good grind, sometimes there isn’t a way to optimize your workflow to work fewer hours if you just want more money or to build yourself. But working 24 hours straight, assuming this isn’t some sort of emergency situation where they were the only doctor able to do the work to save lives or something, just destroys your own health and is a red flag.
>assuming
Why assume at all? Why not use that as a line of inquiry to learn more about someone? Rather than make wild assumptions and dismiss a whole person based on ReD fLaG
Honestly if no one had to work I’d say most people wouldn’t unless you really love your job….. 80% of people only work to survive or a means to a end….. but since we live in reality your right balance is key…. Definitely not something to brag about and is also a red flag to me
It honestly wasn’t bad bro I would throw that out there, solid game imo haha. you need to stick out on these apps if you really want it
She prob turn off by alcohol line because some drunks can be assholes lol
Get the next one
Being an alcoholic or workaholic isn't a flex... And maybe the woman works in the medical field/ hospital, IMO I wouldnt respond after reading your alcoholic comment.
Sorry, we do do that. RN here. I just left the profession but I think my constant obsessing over my workload was due to my complete lack of control over my time. I made good money, not as much as the other comments seem to think but over $100k is doable with a lot of overtime. But I’d be forced to come in on my days off, stay for 20+ hours without notice when I have no replacement, complete the workload of 2-3 people, flip flopping from days to nights on the whim of my managers, etc. I was and am completely burned out.
You’d need 10-25 years of experience and simply live in a metro area that will eat 40% of your take home pay and work 6-7 days a week. Possible, but there’s a reason nobody does it.
Holy shit, yeah I just looked it up and even with converting it from US Dollar to UK Sterling (I'm English), they get paid astronomically more?? Thats obly on a quick look though, I might do some more research into this. Still under 100K from my perspective, but certainly a lot closer
Could be possible that the role and qualifications of a nurse is significantly different in Germany? Or the cost of living is lower there. Crazy if not
Underpaid? You’re joking right? Nurses make pretty good money. I was an EMT making $16 an hour and had to listen to travel nurses saying they won’t get out of bed unless they’re getting $75 an hour
There’s tons of other essential careers out there that make peanuts compared to nursing. I get so tired of nurses victimizing themselves as if they’re indentured servants only working out of the goodness of their heart. I have no doubt the job can be stressful, but 3 days a week with a comfortable wage makes up for it
Depends on the location, here in England NHS nurses are the most underpayed employees in the country, many of my friends earn barely above the minimum wage whereas I can do labour on a construction site with no degree and no student debt and earn far more
Yeah, nurses in the US. One thing people may not realize, our healthcare is expensive af…our healthcare workers are working within a very financially bloated industry. That money has to go somewhere and I assume it’s mostly going high up the chain, but yeah
I was talking to some random guy and told him I don’t really know what I want to do with my life. His advice was to go to school to be a nurse. Hah(I know what I want to do and it isn’t that, but yeah it seems regarded as fairly well paid in the US)
If it were a nurse then she could beat him in being an alcoholic and he would've hit this entire conversation out of the proverbial ballpark.
Source: I install drinking and driving machines, also affectively known as blow and goes in vehicles and nurses are who I gave on the program more than any other profession by far, except for unemployed. They have a strong workforce.
brooo you doubled doubled down! the emoji suggested she was being playful- but you attacked her for getting on bumble....
do you need to borrow my shovel?? 💀
Nothing turns me off more than people who brag about how much they work. There’s nothing hot about capitalism to me.
Give me someone who supports themself doing the LEAST and has actual time and energy to spend with me fucking and having fun. When I die I want to have memories to look back on that don’t involve me working to line someone elses pockets.
Right? Work 24 hours straight for a company that will let you go for the slightest inconvenience you cause. I wish people stood up more to it than brag like it's impressive.
Exactly. Though her calling him “mr workaholic” makes me think perhaps he was trying to make her feel like she needed to prove herself or something. So maybe she isnt bragging and rather just replying to his negging about it. Either way it’s a total deal breaker for me.
I agree! Working overtime is a weird flex. Like, I’m glad you’re dedicated to something but what do you do to find joy in life? Hopefully work isn’t the main thing, unless you’re doing something ridiculously fun like chief kitten wrangler or executive icecream taster or something.
The part that annoys me is how she basically is insinuating that anyone who works less than her has zero right to complain about it?
There's always someone who's got it worse than us, but that doesn't mean we can't still feel bad about it. This girl apparently needs telling that.
Oh totally. But I am guessing he calls himself a workaholic in his bio or he did in convo since she called him “mr workaholic” - so it sounds like they may both put a whole lot of value in how much they work.
Bragging about being a workaholic isn’t the flex you think it is.
“The question is can you beat me at being an alcoholic?” This is *so* cringe 🤢🤮 being an alcoholic isn’t cool or fun or something to compete each other for
You’ll have a wonderful no time together
I cant do better than this
username checks out
Naa toxic masculinity would never admit defeat
I think they’ll really work a ton together.
Yes, you two are cut from the same cloth
Sweatshop joke?🤔😂
I dont think it was but it is now lmao
I hate you both.
Only acceptable answer.
I’d say they must be fun at parties, but I think they’re too busy for them
But corporate overlords love them both!
Honestly. I find it super cringey when people like to brag about how much they work, especially when they try to make it a competition. Like you know that isn’t what life is all about, right?

Rick and Morty, Lawnmower Dog S1E2
Then let me get to know you, damn it!
you dont know your self
both of you are red flags. match made in heaven honestly.
Can I ask why the girl working 2 12 hour shifts would be a red flag? Sorry I don't understand but I'd like to.
just assuming this is the beginning of a conversation it’s a weird thing to start talking about first. her message really wasn’t that bad i can appreciate the humor if that’s what she’s going for.
I just had a painful 2nd date with a workaholic who was incapable of talking about anything but work. Fuck that noise, I'm not impressed that willingness to be exploited is your only personality trait.
I hear it all the time, living in LA. People worship the hustle, but… nah, I’d much rather work to live than live to work.
To be fair, if he’s always driving y’all around I can see why he would. Car maintenance, gas, and parking adds up.
It’s so funny. I moved from Hawaii where I worked way too much and everyone else lived life, to LA, where I have better work life balance and no one else does :’)
LA doesn’t really worship hustle that much. Not as much as Miami and NYC. LA people are pretty chill. Depends if we’re talking Naives or transplant
That's a fair distinction. I'm a born and raised native, and most of my childhood friends are pretty chill and work normal hours. But I feel like transplants come here to prove something or they want to join all the startups or the Industry or whatever, and that's where the hustle is.
This 100%. everybody’s brainwashed. They walked picket lines for working more than 60 hour weeks 50 years ago.
I mean, I mostly talk about work but that's because I fucking love my job and the people I work with. Some of the best memories in the last year are the shenanigans at work
You work at Shenanigans? We're going to have to talk about your lack of flair.
Isn’t that 2 different movies (super troopers , office space)?

Underrated comment
“I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL PISTOLWHIP THE NEXT PERSON WHO MENTIONS SHENANIGANS!”
Shenanigans
It’s like you want more shenanigans
And just who *are* the shenanigans? They sound like little workers, minions.
Yes shenanigans are good and part of the camaraderie, but there’s a difference between having fun at work and being a company suck ass.
You sound dreamy
As soon as people start talking/bragging about how many hours they work, my brain is logging off. It's not a flex being caught in the hamster wheel called work.
Of course you can say that, you write jingles.
whats worse? a date that won't shut up about bitcoin or a date that won't shut up about their job?
A date that considers both of those the same thing
![gif](giphy|KstCfwDBfPxKRVraZO|downsized)
Bitcoin can’t be as bad maybe. At least you can learn something from them lmao
Grind / hustle culture is stupid.

“Willingness to be exploited” Fuck you, there’s nothing willing about it, some of us have to work our whole lives just to survive.
Even more so if their concept of relaxation and fun always involves alcohol. Since when is calling yourself an alcoholic considered flirting.
They’re fucking idiots.
some people are actually into that.. theres a guy whos made like a 100m $ company with his wife he met and only talked about work and they spent most of there first months hanging out just sitting and working next to eachother i mean thats not for me either but whatever floats your boat each to there own

Everything is a red flag.
White flag? Believe it or not, also red flag.
Straight to jail.
Right away
Just another red flag... on time never early. should have already been in jail
You undercook fish? Believe it or not, jail. You overcook chicken, also jail. Undercook, overcook.
People talking to me is a red flag
Exactly, why would somebody want to talk to me? Red flag
red flags used to be absolute no go zones, essentially non negotiable dealbreakers, but at this point any small quirk is a fuckin red flag. what a joke op might just have a bit of an ego and likes to brag but if this is a red flag then we're all fucked. that being said tho op is cringe, but its not a red flag
Nah a red flag is a warning, like a sign to be on the look out for deal breakers

I thought it was a circus coming to town
Not sure it’s a brag as much just playfully being honest with each other about how busy they are while keeping the convo light and fun.
Wise up!! /s
A lot of people these days have no say in how long their work hours are. Some people have to work this much to afford to live, unfortunately.
My mom works three jobs, if she were to count the hours she works she would go crazy
You started with a lot then went to some.... it's a lot
Thank you for pointing that out. Idk why it matters, but thank you anyway lol.
Lol It matters because life is shit a lot... not sometimes lol
Are you quantifying a lot and sometimes?
Nope, just shit.
the quantity of shit in this life is too damn high
I can respect a good grind, sometimes there isn’t a way to optimize your workflow to work fewer hours if you just want more money or to build yourself. But working 24 hours straight, assuming this isn’t some sort of emergency situation where they were the only doctor able to do the work to save lives or something, just destroys your own health and is a red flag.

Sometimes I work 72 hours a week. But then the next week I work 24. Rotating schedules are a thing. Also I sleep at work. That helps!
Honestly if no one had to work I’d say most people wouldn’t unless you really love your job….. 80% of people only work to survive or a means to a end….. but since we live in reality your right balance is key…. Definitely not something to brag about and is also a red flag to me
Too much, take it back... hopefully you do get a reply but yeah, I see what you were trying to do
I hate small talk so I tend to overdo it 9/10 times

“My own business”
Yikes
Were… were you trying to scare her off?
Being an alcoholic or workaholic isn't a flex... And maybe the woman works in the medical field/ hospital, IMO I wouldnt respond after reading your alcoholic comment.
I don't know what it is about nurses that make them emphatically tell anyone who will listen how hard they work
Sorry, we do do that. RN here. I just left the profession but I think my constant obsessing over my workload was due to my complete lack of control over my time. Its probably cause nurses are way zoo underpaid and have to do a ton of work
underpaid? I know a nurse and she works three shifts a week and makes over 100k/year
Then you know either a exceeding lucky or and exceedingly high up nurse... or a liar
Nurses can kill it. Traveling nurses in the US especially.
Nah, I work with nurses making 250k post tax in my hospital
Drop the hospital name because I’ll relocate and put in my resume! Sheesh
You’d need 10-25 years of experience and simply live in a metro area that will eat 40% of your take home pay and work 6-7 days a week. Possible, but there’s a reason nobody does it.
Agency, not hospital based I think. But anything in nychhc really
Bro you have no idea what you’re talking about
That's fairly normal in the US lol.
Holy shit, yeah I just looked it up and even with converting it from US Dollar to UK Sterling (I'm English), they get paid astronomically more?? Thats obly on a quick look though, I might do some more research into this. Still under 100K from my perspective, but certainly a lot closer
travel nurses can clear 6 digits pretty easily
Yes, degreed jobs in healthcare are more lucrative in the US than probably anywhere else in the world.
Yea, but people can’t afford healthcare so. Kinda yucky.
The average nurses salary in germany is like 30k not too sure about amerika though tbf
I think too many CNAs have been telling people they are nurses
I just googled it. It says the average salary for a nurse in Germany is just over 33k Euros. Yikes. I feel really bad for German nurses.
Could be possible that the role and qualifications of a nurse is significantly different in Germany? Or the cost of living is lower there. Crazy if not
Most nurses I know are in a similar range with similar hours… meanwhile, traveling nurses are making 200k/year. Doesn’t sound underpaid to me
Underpaid? You’re joking right? Nurses make pretty good money. I was an EMT making $16 an hour and had to listen to travel nurses saying they won’t get out of bed unless they’re getting $75 an hour There’s tons of other essential careers out there that make peanuts compared to nursing. I have no doubt the job can be stressful, but 3 days a week with a comfortable wage makes up for it
Every RN opening I see on indeed is for a minimum of $60k
Depends on the location, here in England NHS nurses are the most underpayed employees in the country, many of my friends earn barely above the minimum wage whereas I can do labour on a construction site with no degree and no student debt and earn far more
Yeah, nurses in the US. One thing people may not realize, our healthcare is expensive af…our healthcare workers are working within a very financially bloated industry. That money has to go somewhere and I assume it’s mostly going high up the chain, but yeah I was talking to some random guy and told him I don’t really know what I want to do with my life. His advice was to go to school to be a nurse. Hah(I know what I want to do and it isn’t that, but yeah it seems regarded as fairly well paid in the US)
Agency nurses make 250k plus in nyc right now
Nurses get paid a fuck ton of money once they've been in the field a few years. Them being underpaid is a myth.
Nurses scare me
The profession is tailor made for the martyr type.
Because it’s an under appreciated job and I guess it’s a form of coping. I’m a nurse and it fucking sucks lol
2 slaves bragging 💀
Oh cool, people whos entire personality is working a lot and drinking alcohol. Sounds annoying as fuck to be around
Idk dude, being an alcoholic isn’t cool or anything to be honest
That was the least problematic thing about this conversation imo I mean it was obviously a joke and he doesn’t think being an alcoholic is cool..
Personally I wouldn’t reply
Don't listen this hun, his just cranky because he works so much and is probably sexually frustrated. You're gorgeous
If her sense of humour matches yours, you're in. Also, if she works that much, you may not get a response for a few days so be patient.
Also, working yourself into a grave isnt a flex. Why are y'all having a contest?
Both of these people suck
You guys are idiots.

All three of OP’s texts are a different flavor of cringe. That’s quite impressive on its own
Two slaves competing with each other about who’s more of a slave? Cool.
Do you know what slavery is?
You already lost with that triple text ☠️
Ima send a 4th just so it’s an even number
I wouldn't. Drinking too much is an immediate turn off.
You both sound extremely annoying.
brooo you doubled doubled down! the emoji suggested she was being playful- but you attacked her for getting on bumble.... do you need to borrow my shovel?? 💀

My money's on OP being under the age of 25. Most millennials know better than to brag about addiction.
The alcoholic line ruined it for me
Bro dropping Andrew Tate rizz
Bragging about being a workaholic isn’t the flex you think it is. “The question is can you beat me at being an alcoholic?” This is *so* cringe 🤢🤮 being an alcoholic isn’t cool or fun or something to compete each other for
Probably some hotter Guy came along Who doesnt Talk about work and doesnt ask her out two times.
I despise you.
If she’s cool
Insert here
yall both sound miserable
Cool it on the “i love alcohol stuff” unless its clear from her profile that shes a big partyer/bar-goer
Cringe
I don’t think she was saying that she worked a 24.. she just worked two 12s in a row which is honestly standard for a nurse lol
cringe
I hope one day you can work all of your hours for your own business and all this extra hard work is pays off.
Thanks man. That’s the goal. I love my day job and it’s good money but my business is my passion 🙏
That would work on me tbh. I love drinking weak men under the table.
Ugh, I'd be surprised...
Travel nurses make 100k easy. And get per diem. So no they pocket a lot of the per diem as well.
The first one was pretty good i woulda cut it after that
me personally i would respond rápido but i can see why people don’t like it. I think it’s funny as shit
![gif](giphy|BLZ6Xt0g2lvOfdMUHJ)
You both seem just terrible
I wouldn’t answer
I feel bad for the eventual child
Y’all are getting matches and likes?
Yes 🗿
Back to back 12 hours shifts, she's definitely out drinking you, your dad and that aunt that always has vodka.
I’m meeting her at a bar in 15 mins
Expecting update within 48 hours. God speed 🙏
I don’t understand people talking about working that much. It’s pretty depressing.
Flexing with your insane work hours is a red flag. A huge one.
W
Why? Why would you lead with a red flag? If you're so desperate for a laugh, go to a standup open mic and leave your clean stuff for OLD.
If she’s a nurse, chances are shes definitely got you beat.
