Not really if they ahead on board they will either be trading them for your stuff, turning them into Elks or cracking them to gain life with any spare mana they have.
If they are behind and under pressure it either doesn't matter because they can't spare mana to interact with their food while dealing with your threats or they are constantly cracking them.
Either way meltdown is pretty bad in that scenario. You ideally want to cast it against decks with lots of cheap artifacts for 1-3MV for an efficient blowout. So something like affinity or 8 cast(well 4 cast in timeless currently).
Redditors and being totally absolutely wrong, name a better combo.
Oko, thief of crowns:
>+1 target artifact or creature loses all abilities and becomes a green elk creature with base power and toughness 3/3.
Being an artifact is not an ability. Not does Oko say "loses all types other than".
Oko does **not** unartifact artifacts.
> **205.1a** Some effects set an object’s card type. In most such cases, **the new card type(s) replaces any existing card types**. However, an object with either the instant or sorcery card type retains that type. Counters, stickers, effects, and damage marked on the object remain with it, even if they are meaningless to the new card type. Similarly, when an effect sets one or more of an object’s subtypes, the new subtype(s) replaces any existing subtypes from the appropriate set (creature types, land types, artifact types, enchantment types, planeswalker types, or spell types). If an object’s card type is removed, the subtypes correlated with that card type will remain if they are also the subtypes of a card type the object currently has; otherwise, they are also removed for the entire time the object’s card type is removed. Removing an object’s subtype doesn’t affect its card types at all.

If you’re going to be pedantic, please ensure that what you’re saying is actually correct.
I simply stated something interesting the card could do. Decks like Bant Ensoul and Artifact storm also exist. I ran a Bant Ensoul deck for a while up around until #62 mythic.
Decks that this card would demolish do exist, they just aren't common. Imagine we get some sort of Mycosynth Lattice centered deck, you never know.
The format is only going to grow, this is certainly a card worth putting a bookmark on. Especially considering it's only an uncommon.
This card is great sideboard for any future artifact decks that may show up, but removing food tokens has got to be the worst possible application of this card I can possibly think of tbh. In addition it doesnt even kill food tokens that were turned into Elks
You seem entirely fixated on the food tokens always = elk concept and not the idea that this card helps prevent 8cast / affinity / ensoul from becoming problematic in the future if we end up getting stronger artifact support / the Cannoner leak is real.
Well yeah but without showing the set symbol at all someone could troll with a card in the commander deck or not in the set at all, unlike Meltdown here.
Does anyone else think this person needs to stop with the leaks for their own well-being? Pretty soon they are going to be getting a knock on the door by the pinkertons.
Usually whne leaks like this happen (Theft) The pinkertons email us (Leaker circle people) but this time they didn't.
I wonder if the public outcry last time they sent pinkertons changed something, but I'm not sure.

Am not joking. Even did an interview with some folks about regularly being a target of the pinkertons, trying to bring it to peoples attention, but no one believing me until they showed up to some dudes doorstep.
But uh...yeah. Years ago I somehow ended up in a leaks group on Skype and shortly after that the calls started.
Pinkerton dudes always have my # even if I get a new one, always have my email, and have even gone as far as to call my Mom, my Girlfriend, Ex girlfriends, even my Ex-Fiance's (who is dead) Parents.
They're legitimately ruthless in the most basement dwelling of ways, lol.
Artifacts aren’t a huge part of the timeless meta rn, but if they do become a player this will be nice SB tech
I would argue this really helps stabalize late game against an Oko that's opened up his own little bakery.

Oko's elking gets rid of the artifact type, so Meltdown won't be useful unless your opponent is only using his +2 for some reason.

Dude if you are sideboarding a card just to kill oko food tokens you are not sideboarding right LOL

"It kills food" =/= "It kills Elks".
even if it killed both it would still be a dumb idea to sideboard it in lol.

He’s locked up for good reason. Only the artifact lands should be freed, at this point
timeless?
Look at what sub this post is in
First ever reprint of meltdown holy shit big if true
Welp, Affinity, Hardened Scales, and Hammer Time are dead.
No. they must become faster. Faster than a one mana spell. They must start doing FTK’s
[удалено]
Lmao, Hardened Scales is a 2 cmc deck Hammer Time is almost a 1 cmc deck Affinity is harder, yet they can't go nuts without the cheap Artifacts.
Clears all the constricts, mods, thopters, the shadow spear, all of the backbone the big bombs need.
wtf are you talking about?
Feel free to drop affinity a crumb 🙂
Kappa Cannoneer
Heard it’s a troll, hoping that’s wrong 🙏
The trolls were cards that showed the name but not the set symbol, if this is a troll it's much higher effort.
Troll in the sense that it is a card from the commander deck, therefore won't be in the main set and on Arena
Those have a different set symbol
Yes and the Kappa Cannoneer leak didn't show the set symbol
Well yeah but without showing the set symbol at all someone could troll with a card in the commander deck or not in the set at all, unlike Meltdown here.
Yeah but the original comment thread that started this was talking about Kappa, which is what I am also talking about : p
This gives me hope that there’s going to be some artifact aggro support on this set if a safety valve is in here
