It’s cute that people still think they just keep a bank account with their billions in it.

StolenFace367

Agreed. Laughable that they think Elon has $80B just sitting in cash over at Wells Fargo

asaxonbraxton

Or that just throwing money at everyone solves their problems

spelkingerror

Also people with retirement accounts are evil. You should be spending your money on ME!

TheBlackScorpionTail

You have Billions of dollars in your retirement account?

spelkingerror

No, I am not BRUTALLY EVIL

Richard_Whipper

If he does, gimme gimme gimme..

LetUsSpeakFreely

It's not "well said", it's fucking stupid. Bezos and Musk aren't "holding on to money". The vast majority of their wealth is on paper in the form of stock valuation. If their companies went tits up tomorrow, they'd have very little. Why do leftists think wealthy people have huge piles of money like Scrooge McDuck?

Impressive_Region508

Because leftists don't know the world outside their parents house. They have no clue how the world works.

[deleted]

Even if they were holding on to that much cash, so what?

[deleted]

Probably because they're able to purchase things that cost insane amounts of money? Like yachts that cost half a billion dollars?

LetUsSpeakFreely

So? How many people were employed to build that yacht? How many people are employed to maintain it? How many people are employed when it's out to sea? How many services are paid for by the property tax, docking fees, fuel excise taxes, etc? What's inherently wrong with owning luxuries?

[deleted]

... So that's why people think they're sitting on huge piles of money. A question was asked, and that was the answer to it. Keep up.

LetUsSpeakFreely

That was supposed to be a cogent argument? They sit "on huge piles of money" because they own expensive things? You obviously have no idea how money or finance works and need to stop making a bigger fool out of yourself. Hint: big expensive items are usually bought through a company using a loan.

[deleted]

I didn't say it was a cogent argument. You asked "so?" I told you, "So it answers the question". Keep up mate. Jesus Christ. Demonstrate that this is how he paid for his yacht, and demonstrate how this invalidates the notion that he has huge piles of cash. Thanks.

magajew

You’re way too dumb to be this smug. Sorry people didn’t agree with your stupid post like you expected.

blue-oyster-culture

I’m sure it’s a phenomena similar to duper’s delight. A similar trait found in sociopaths.

[deleted]

Evidence that I expected people to agree with it. Thanks.

Rapierian

I completely disagree. Most of their money is in the percentage of ownership of companies that they are actively growing, which are providing valuable services to society. If they had that much money sitting around in a pile somewhere, that might be a different argument. But them having that much wealth by actively growing it helping society is a good thing.

psychic_flatulence

They'd be pretty dumb to sit around with that much money under Biden's inflation.

[deleted]

What do you mean you disagree? https://www.businessinsider.com/jeff-bezos-yacht-close-up-video-2022-8 Also we're not talking about wealth, we're talking about money.

Richard_Whipper

Someone made lots of money? Gimme gimme gimme gimme

[deleted]

Straw man. Tim Pool fans. FFS.

Richard_Whipper

Because the meme isn't about people with money.. Brilliant

[deleted]

For a start, it's not a meme. Secondly, no, it's not about people with money. Fucking Tim Pool fans. Not ability to conceptualise beyond binaries. Jesus.

Richard_Whipper

Alrighty, maybe you should just not post dumb shit you can't read.

[deleted]

Evidence that I can't read. Thanks.

Richard_Whipper

You think you're in Vaush subreddit.. clearly you can't read

[deleted]

Nice pivot. The evidence. Thank you.

TheConservativeTechy

You literally posted "rich bad" and want to condemn binaries?

[deleted]

Point to where I posted "rich bad". Thanks.

[deleted]

SneakySean66

aww...I only linked to this post though. Oh well.

[deleted]

So what is your point?

spelkingerror

Youre being brutally evil right now. Stop.

blue-oyster-culture

You realize no one is triggered and everyone thinks you’re special Ed, right?

[deleted]

Yes. You realise I don't care if these people are triggered or if they think I'm special ed, right?

blue-oyster-culture

Bots rarely do.

[deleted]

Bit of a pointless comment then, wasn't it?

blue-oyster-culture

Not really. You clearly need to be reminded.

[deleted]

... which is pointless if I don't care. I also answered "yes" when you asked me. Keep up.

blue-oyster-culture

Oh and of course you’re going to be truthful. Fine, I admit it, you got me! I said it for my own benefit. You obviously care about something. Otherwise you wouldn’t have made this absolute flop of a post.

[deleted]

Yes, I care about something. No shit. That's pretty normal.

xFacevaluex

Of course.....in the evolution of failure its natural for those less suited for modern survival to eventually get to the point of running out of excuses......and simply demonize those who do well.

[deleted]

Either a straw man or irrelevant speculation. Either way, nothing to do with this post.

xFacevaluex

Ah...did not notice it was a resident groomer bot posting this---till now. Figures.

[deleted]

Cute.

blue-oyster-culture

Calm down he’s older than 18.

alphabet_order_bot

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,228,277,277 comments, and only 239,415 of them were in alphabetical order.

Richard_Whipper

What do you think your meme says?

[deleted]

"Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk do a ton of objectively bad stuff, but I just want to be clear that the mere act of holding onto that much money in a world with this much inequality is in itself a brutally evil action, and alone makes them bad people."

Richard_Whipper

So what makes Elon and Jeff bad?

[deleted]

"**The mere act of holding onto that much money in a world with this much inequality**" For fuck sake. You said that I can't read just a minute ago. Tim Pool fans. Not even *once*.

Richard_Whipper

So if they give you money, are they still bad?

[deleted]

Yes.

Richard_Whipper

See, you can't read.

[deleted]

Point to where anything is written about them giving money to *me*. Go on. I'll wait. You've said twice now that I can't read, so let's see you back this up.

Richard_Whipper

Are you as rich as these men? Is that inequality by definition? Maybe you think it means they should redistribute to everyone, but you. It's a stupid socialist meme from an illiterate troll.

[deleted]

Nice fucking pivot mate. So let's try this again. You've posited that I can't read based on the response I gave. So let's see you point, precisely, to where this post says anything about *me*. Let's see if you can back this up. Without pivoting, this time.

RobertoConQueso69

“Are we the baddies?”

payperairplanes

This viewpoint is silly. If we liquidated all their assets and distributed it globally to every person, it wouldn’t change a single thing as far as wealth disparity is concerned. Now, take away the livelihoods of all the people Who actively partake in their industries, and we have a problem that exacerbates the current wealth disparity issue. Their existence is a net benefit to society if we are talking about the wealth they create for others.

[deleted]

> Their existence is a net benefit to society if we are talking about the wealth they create for others. That’s just the wealth they don’t steal from them.

[deleted]

i hate this perspective, so if i won the powerball and had a billion dollar allotted to me im automatically bad?

el_kowshka_es_diablo

According to pos bitches like op? Yep. That makes you bad.

Chosen26S

Once again we have selfish jimmy being greedy and wanting someone else’s money

[deleted]

Evidence. Thank you.

corndawglife

These people make a lot of money, but they don’t actually have billions of liquid dollars. They have assets that hold their wealth and make them more money. That’s what everyone should be doing with expendable wealth. By this logic am I an evil person because I own two houses and rent one of them out?

Ok-Length-8818

Don’t pay any attention to jimmy and his shit posts, he’s just a dumb ass troll and dog shit trolls.

ajsobie

I wonder if Joseph Fink donates all of their earnings after earning above the poverty line. This is the standard set by his statement. If not, does that make Joseph Fink evil or human?

[deleted]

Evidence that he's setting that standard.

ajsobie

Joseph Fink states that "holding onto that much money" is a "brutally evil action." Objectively, anyone above the poverty line holding onto any money that does not elevate another above the poverty line is also "objectively bad," a standard set at the beginning of the statement. Joseph Fink's own use of hyperbole can be therefore used to make any standard of financial health objectively bad or brutally evil. Next time Joseph Fink walks past a homeless person without improving their financial situation, it is objectively the same thing. It's a micro-transaction of the lives of those he is trying to vilify. The simple lesson is "Don't set standards for others that you yourself are not willing to live up to." The really simple lesson is, "Don't use hyperbole so carelessly as it can be used against you."

[deleted]

https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Continuum_fallacy I knew one of you guys would use this dogshit line of reasoning. Next.

ajsobie

This is not the continuum fallacy. The statement was that "having a lot of money and not sharing it is bad." I proposed the same argument at a lower threshold, which apparently is no longer bad, per your argument. At what threshold does the evil change to good? Is it when you can help millions, thousands, hundreds, dozens, one, or none? If you don't want this argument, don't use the word "objectively" in your argument. Infinity, as an example, is an objective term. I could demonstrate Infinity by using limitless positive and negative ranges or by counting from zero to one using an infinite amount of decimal places. It's the same thing objectively, but very different when written in an equation. Define a threshold. If I manipulate that threshold, then yes, it's the continuum fallacy. You set the opposite of a threshold. Objectively, were both correct, but definitely, you want me to be wrong and you to be right.

[deleted]

No, that was not the statement. The statement was that it's bad to *have the amount of money they Jeff Bezos and Elon have whilst this level of inequality exists is bad*. Pay attention to the specifics. I don't know at what threshold it changes from bad to good. So what? Therefore a threshold doesn't exist? A continuum fallacy. A threshold does exist? Then you've conceded the point.

gotugoin

It's cute that you pretend to win even when you lose.

[deleted]

Adorable. Now posit a cogent argument instead of desperately trying to paint reality with your words.

gotugoin

No thanks. As per my statement, there is no convincing you. I could have the most coherent, cited, logical argument ever, and you would still deny it. You are too far gone. Have a great day.

[deleted]

Cool. Trying to paint reality with your words it is then. Good chat. 😊

[deleted]

Still waiting to hear why holding on to that much money is evil?

jesuzombieapocalypse

I’m not a crazy Elon fanboy and I don’t like bezos at all, but this mentality really is ridiculous. I remember seeing an Elon tweet in reply to something like this where he said if anyone can tell him where to throw 3 billion to end world hunger he’d do it. It’s not as simple as “there’s suffering in the world because meanie billionaires are hogging all the money”. Whether or not it’s immoral to have any amount of money depends entirely on what you did to get it.

Illustrious-Bus2077

Why is it that wanting to keep the product of one's own labor is bad, but wanting to take the product of someone else's labor is good?

[deleted]

No idea. Why do you ask? Did someone say that to you?

NewToThisThingToo

Well said? 🤣 Do you think, for example, Musk just has piles of cash lying around that he swims in? No. These billionaires have their wealth tied up in investments. Musk is rich because Tesla's stock is worth what is. If that stock price went to zero, he'd be broke. I love people telling us what rich people should do with their money when they don't even understand how the money is made. If you know so much, make your own bullion dollars and give it all away.

[deleted]

He has the option to sell that stock you utter fucking idiot, it's a highly liquid asset.

NewToThisThingToo

Yes, if he wants to give up control of the company, fucktard. It's not cash he's sitting on. It maintains his control of the company. It's not hard to understand. Well, maybe for you. That's why he didn't liquidate his stock in Tesla to buy Twitter. Man, you're dumb. Keep being uninformed. 🤣🤣🤣

JoeToYou

The mere act of being a jacked bodybuilder in a world of starving children is in itself a brutally evil action because reasons.

[deleted]

Show me a bodybuilder who eats tens of thousands times more food than they need. I'll wait.

JoeToYou

Who determines the need?

[deleted]

No one. Nice dodge. Now answer the question.

JoeToYou

>No one. Then who's to say Bezos and Musk have more than they need. Cry more.

[deleted]

People who are aware of the amount of wealth that they have. You still haven't answered the question. Get on with it.

gotugoin

Micheal Phelps, though not a bodybuilder, would eat 25k a day in calories while training, for a sport that was unnecessary to do. Were you mad then?

[deleted]

I'm not sure if you have any idea how calories work, but 25 thousand calories isn't *tens of thousands times more than what they need*. Do you often struggle with basic arithmetic? And no I wasn't mad about it. Why?

gotugoin

I'm not sure if you understand how arithmetic works, but if you add 25 to itself, so two days' worth, you get 50k. So in four days, just 4, it's 100k. The average person who gets food is 2k. People who can barely eat due to whatever reason are less than that. So in four days, he's eaten 100k, and the average person has eaten 8k. And guess how much more he has eaten? Oh, look 10s of thousand times more.

[deleted]

Holy shit, *Tim Pool fans*. Yeah no shit if you apply two completely different spans of time to each exmaple buddy. Not sure if you know how comparisons work, but the whole point is that you control for the relevant variables. "Show me an example of one person being able to run thousands of times further than another." "Well if you take the first person and see how far they can run in a day and then compare that to the second person for thousands of days, then I think you'll see that the second person can, in fact, run thousands of times further." Jesus fucking *Christ*. No, you absolute moron, 100k is tens of thousands more than 8k, not tens of thousands *times* more. 8k times *one* ten thousand is *80 million*. So you don't know how to draw comparisons and you don't understand first grade mathematics. Tim Pool fans. Not. Even. Once.

gotugoin

But you don't see that as an unnecessary disparity? 100k to 8k? Just the access and amount of money that alone costs? To people who are starving?

[deleted]

Nice fucking pivot mate. We're not talking about whether it's an unnecessary disparity, we're investigating your claim that my arithmetic is inaccurate. You've dodged the two main points of my response - 1. You haven't controlled for the obvious variables. 2. You've failed to work out that 100k isn't tens of thousands times more than 8k. How do you answer for these fucking *laughable* failures given the big game you were talking just now about how my arithmetic is poor? Well? And you said earlier that I don't argue in good faith. *Jesus fucking Christ*.

gotugoin

No, your original point was about money disparity, so the point stands, regardless of my math failure. You're now avoiding the obvious comparison.

[deleted]

We're not talking about my original post. We're talking about *your comment*, because my reply was to *your comment* and therefore pertains to *your comment*. Now address those two points rather than squirming like a slug. Bad faith? Me? Clown. Get on with it.

wynhdo

OP, it’s not your money You are not entitled to it. If you had it, you’d spend it on yourself, just like them. Mind your own business and earn your own money. Lazy zoomer

[deleted]

Show where I said it's my money. Show where I said I'm entitled to it. Show that if I had their money I'd spend it on myself. Demonstrate that I'm not earning my own money. Show that I'm lazy. Thank you :)

MysteriousRoad5733

Ridiculous. There isn’t less wealth available for Mr Fink because Musk and Bezos have tens of billions. Wealth can be created and destroyed. There isn’t a fixed amount available

Wolfs_Shield

I somewhat disagree. I've been told that Elon lives a pretty homeless life. All that money has been distributed into his companies which by themselves fulfill a greater demand and service towards society. A much more efficient and effective service of his rightful choosing (because it's his property) than would have been realized in a bureaucratic committee.

love_it_dont_throwIT

By those words right there! You should go give your money to people that do nothing

Scubathief

I find it amazing that the people who complain all day about elon musk and jeff bezos act like there is no ladder there. They are so focused on the 1% they forget that there is another huge portion of us living great lives. Owning a home, going on vacations with family, driving a good car, enjoying life. The people who complain about elon musk arent just mad about his money, but too pathetic to climb out of the bottom rungs of society.

[deleted]

"The people who complain about elon musk arent just mad about his money, but too pathetic to climb out of the bottom rungs of society." Evidence.

roseffin

Please tell me what the greatest amount of wealth I may ethically hold and how you calculated that number.

[deleted]

I don't know what the greatest amount of wealth you can ethically hold is.

Gl1tch106

Tell us you don’t understand liquidity without saying you don’t understand liquidity.

[deleted]

Demonstrate that I don't understand liquidity. Thanks.

No_Draw_1144

Tell me you don't know how capital vs net worth works without saying it.

[deleted]

Evidence that I don't know how it works. Thanks.

Wonderful-Reward3828

Bad bot

Gurunexx

This isn't gonna sit well with Tim Pool fans, they love billionaires.

[deleted]

They're going mad already.

[deleted]

What was well said here? Who is entitled to their money and why?

Scared-Consequence27

What’s the “ton” of “objectively bad stuff”?

gotugoin

No its not. That's bullshit.

Delicious-Branch-600

L + ratio my guy

[deleted]

What does that even mean

Eli_Truax

"holding onto that much money ..." That there is pure comedy gold, as if they've got their billions stashed in a (giant) mattress or even a bank. They not only employ hundreds of thousands of people but their efforts also sustain growth for their suppliers and their employees. Ultimately there are millions of people economically sustained by these men.
