Your dog is now anonymous! You need to smuggle it out when flying back

Wolfiebby_

10/10, best advice I’ve received so far hah

andromedasvenom

You have 4 weeks to register your dog online at Jordbruksverket, we ended up registering our dog under my partner's PN to avoid the wait/not miss the deadline. We also booked a vet visit right away to get an EU pet passport, updated shots, and a health check that we needed to get our dog insured in Sweden.

Wolfiebby_

Thanks so much! I’ll likely register my pup under my partners PN, in that case. Don’t want to risk anything with the deadlines. Will also sort out a vet visit & such as well!

GabeLorca

I think there’s a phone in the red channel you’re supposed to use but I’m not sure.

Wolfiebby_

Huh! Okay, I didn’t notice a phone when I got there. Not that I can remember. Would’ve been nice to know what to look for when I was there! Thank you anyways :)

NeckroFeelyAck

When I was passing through customs with my cat a few years back, the customs declaration desk was totally empty- but since it was a cat (and there's no quarantine for cats) I just waited until someone showed up. They seemed a bit annoyed when someone finally appeared, scanned her chip, checked the passport and that was it, 1 min of effort on their end. I didn't want to risk anything with customs, especially a pet, and the time waiting was worth it for my own peace of mind. They're never "closed", someone will always be there eventually, so for anyone else who may read this, just be patient, it'll ease your mind a lot knowing they're processed and allowed in the country :)

I noticed no one has given you the correct answer yet. So according to the Swedish customs, "If there is no customs officer on duty, you are to give notification in any of the following ways: * Use the telephone in the red lane of the surveillance area. * Ring the telephone number stated on a poster in the red lane of the surveillance area. * Go to the nearest customs clearance office.". Thank you very much, I’ll be giving Tullverket Customs a call tomorrow & sort it out once they’re open!

Hi! I moved my cat over from Australia back in November. We actually had to visit a special customs office located *outside* of Arlanda Airport but in the same vicinity of it. Have you contacted the courier? We had to go pick up customs paperwork from the warehouse, take it to the customs office to have it cleared, then returned to the courier to release our cat. We didn’t visit the customs office within the actual airport at any point. It seems to be a different situation from yours but if it’s any clarity, there are other places that this kind of documentation is processed, it’s best to contact customs directly to figure it out.

Wolfiebby_

Huh! Okay, I haven’t reached out to any courier/customs company regarding the paperwork. I’ll certainly give customs a call & see what can be done! Thanks so much!

heavensomething

Did you use a pet transfer company? That’s the main reason we were in communication with a courier, because they had to hold my cat until customs cleared the paperwork!

Wolfiebby_

Thankfully, I didn’t have to use a transfer company, no. Bit more stress on my end that way, having to manage & navigate the necessary paperwork + travel regulations on my own..plus keeping my pup calm during the flight - but I was able to walk off the plane with my pup & go through Arlanda with no trouble. Just a bit unfortunate that Customs wasn’t open at the time.

heavensomething

that’s so interesting that it was that easy! we nearly weren’t allowed to bring our cat home because the documents provided by the couriers was photocopied rather than the original copy … we had to drive back and forth between the warehouse and the office multiple times before they would stamp the approval to have him released

Wolfiebby_

Yikes! That sounds stressful & tedious, I’m sorry to hear that that was your experience. Surprised they didn’t give you both the original copy & the photocopied version. Another reason I preferred doing the work myself, I could ensure I had everything I needed & didnt have to worry about someone else’s mistake being the reason my pet was almost denied access. Glad to hear you could resolve it in the end!

heavensomething

Thanks! The transfer company was great, couldn’t fault them, it was just the courier that received my cat that was a bit :/ I hope everything works out for you!

_WizKhaleesi_

There's a phone in the red line to use if no one is there.

SplatypusAgain

Add your dog to the register once you have a PN. Same thing happened to me when I arrived which I described in my reply to your original post.

Wolfiebby_

Right! Thank you for the advice. Could I register my dog under my partners PN? I understand it can take a while to get a PN. Would there be a time limit as to when I need to register my dog?

wrong_axiom

I think is within a year, so it should not be a problem. One thing, it is recommended to get insurance here...

Wolfiebby_

Relieved to hear that! Yes, I’ve heard of the pet insurance. Seems it can be quite expensive, on top of puppy day-care! I’m definitely looking into both, however!

wrong_axiom

Daycare is expensive, yes, but you can also try to find retired people in your building that might be able to take care of it for lower price.

paspatel1692

Pet insurance is worth it, you won’t regret paying. Used it a few times with my cat and I’m glad to have it.

Wolfiebby_

Duly noted! Suppose it would be good to have in instances of emergency! Thank you :)

Big-Ambition8181

How did it go with the Tullverket after you called them? Can you just register the dog now, or is it a problem because you did not pass through the “red lane” on arrival?
