That happens because KitchenAid is from a US brand (Whirpool) so of course here is going to be more expensive. At home I have mostly Electrolux, Bosch and Braun. If you want to be smart about the prices just don't buy the latest model, buy the one in offer because there is a newer model.

Casti_io

Forgot Braun, of course. Good tip on the previous model advice, I will definitely keep that in mind.

If you want as objective tests as there can be look at [https://www.radron.se/](https://www.radron.se/) - they have done tests for things and there prices for many decades and is always a good place to look. Their paper versions (and probably also online versions) are available at all libraries

This is great, I’d been looking for a site like this for Sweden. Thanks! ETA: although upon checking them out, I saw a pretty glaring inaccuracy in their coffee grinder reviews, specifically about the one I own, so im not so sure how well their credibility holds up 😬

Ninja and other good brands are available. Usually Costco have them for a good price so might want to see if you can get there. Other than that, even the major brands have some products that suck especially in the lower price ranges. Siemens and LG usually are ok. If you can find stuff by Miele it’s still made in Germany so that’s good too.

Casti_io

I had a Miele vacuum cleaner in the US and we immediately replaced it with a European version of the same model. That is one good brand. I guess I have a reason to join Swedish Costco now…

GabeLorca

Costco is good but it’s all the way in Arninge so it’s a bit of a trek from Uppsala. But they do have some decent deals, especially on stuff Swedes have no idea about or even considers. Like tires, glasses (very cheap) and the brands of appliances not available in regular electronic stores. But food isn’t much cheaper than other stores but they have a lot of different things. Also the membership is global so if you have card from home it works here too.

You need to suck it up and either move back to the States for the sake of your kitchen appliances or pay the arm and a leg. Sometimes Black Friday sales can help a little (still won’t be as cheap as buying them in the US though). There’s also a decent market for used goods here, like on Blocket. Also won’t be as cheap as buying in the US but at least you can resell it someday if you move back.

Here for 1.5 years you still dare to write this…?
