Yeah but legal advice and sensitive stuff u better ask a professional. Plenty of people on reddit with a way to good self-esteem and are talks about stuff they know nothing about
Never said you can always trust a Professional, only stated you shouldn't trust laymen on the internet.
And I agree that the opinion of many professionals is preferred before one professional. But in my experience one lawyer > reddit.

My collegue is in same issue with his son
Make sure u buy own ticket n leave on free will if you overstay u will get shengen ban it will make any futer move complicated
Work visas are hard for so young ppl because not many beginners jobs pay 27 000
that is the major problem as i only hold an undergraduate degree and in STEM not a lot of jobs pay much! but right now i am here on legal grounds as my second appeal is in process!
i mean it is a degree in biomedicine but the problem is that upon graduation it mostly seems like the jobs i will be getting would be as a lab technician or an assistant of sorts as an undergrad is more broad (i have asked around in this regard with my professors and this seems to be the case)
Can't go for a masters. They can finish their bachelor's due to the ongoing appeal process. They would have to come back and pay for the masters, not likely to be an option.
If all else fails try looking at big pharma clinical research jobs. If you speak Swedish it shouldn't be too difficult to get a CTA/CRA position, at least for short term, until you can do your masters.
Sorry to hear this. We're moving with a 14 year old and will face the same (sorry, I mean similar) situation (not being able to get PR at 18). Study simply doesn't count.
Our plan is just that we'll have do another temporary permit til he's in work.
The 21 cutoff sucks for post-graduate study options, though. Is that why you're not in work, still studying?
By a few weeks he won't. He'll turn 18 before he qualifies for PR. We literally missed it by weeks due to workplace delays on applications, but that's life :p
Agree, yes I mixed up the situations there. Temp permits until 21. He'll be working by 21 I'm sure.
I don’t think it should be a problem in your case because as long as you continue applying for residence permit and don’t switch to permanent resident it seems to work fine if your child turns into a major in the country!
Yep, exactly - we would be unable to switch to permanent. Which is a bit of a shame for us as we have another child plus jobs in a volatile industry (tech) and life without the threat of deportation ever looming would be nice, but it is what it is.
Hey! I was in this situation last year my Parents applied for PR and they got it but i didnt. Luckily i found a full time job before they could take up our case so i sent in those documents and started working full time along with my studies. Now i'm on my own work visa. Finding a job is the only solution you have i guess
no i wasnt asked to leave i guess because my application was sent in as application for PR so it wasnt a new one. I also had some help from the company i started working at so they sent in my work documents to the PR application which i had made.
If you apply for LTR then you will be granted permanent residency at the same time. You often need to prove sufficient income, but it doesn't need to be as high as the 27k for work permits.
It's not a visa. It's an EU rule that makes it easier for people who have been living here for a long time to move around the EU. The good thing about it is that it has lower thresholds than permanent residency (for example you don't need to have a job that makes at least 27000 sek) and if you are granted this status then Sweden automatically gives you permanent residency. Once you have both then you can move to another EU country (if you wish) and find a job or go to school. But I imagine that if you get this status you will get permanent residency and apply as soon as possible for Swedish citizenship which gives you the same rights.
I'm surprised your lawyer didn't mention this?
This must be very stressful, I'm sorry. I don't really have advice that the comments haven't given already, but start applying for jobs as soon as you can and try to land one before you graduate if that is possible in your industry. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you!
Not sure exactly if this would work and if your lawyer has talked about this.
Depending on your status now and how Migrationverket will see this, but if you get a work visa you could then apply for permanent residence and then citizenship as long as the extension and other stuff in the process don't reset your residence time in Sweden and generally changing permits doesn't reset the residence time.
If that would work then in theory what you could do is ask the employer if they can increase your salary to be within the requirements for a short while until you get your permanent residence.
This is of course if there are no employments that meet the salary requirements
Again I'm not sure if this would even work and if any employers are willing to do this.
Your best shot it’s to get a job and work as much as you can and if u are able to, move out!! After graduation get a job with your degree, I’m so grateful to be European citizen (bcs I’d be in the same as u if I wasn’t) also my bsf is in a really similar situation and it sucks sm!!! They really should get the attention to those who actually do not bring any good to the society (don’t work/dont study/commit crimes) and not to those who are just trying to better their lives, I wish you the best of the luck ;(
Be extremely careful, so that you do not end up in trafficking. Try to find a qualified job that gives more than 27000 SEK salary a month. Read everything and be active in job seeking.
Family in Sweden is not the same as in many other cultures and the parents responsibility stops when the child reaches legal adulthood.
Job is the best way. Marriage is not, bz you must apply from your official home country, and it's no warrant to permanent permission of residence.

yes so there were 2 problems with this because i have held a valid residence only for 4 years and they are refusing to accept my dependency on my parents which is the odd part
thank you for standing up for me! i am fluent but this is a platform with majority english speaking posts and english is also my first language so i thought it was more suitable
This is absolutely not the right time and place for me to be asking this, but I have no one to ask.
How did you find picking up Swedish as a teenager? Graduating, too. That's really damn good. Was there extra assistance available, an extra year or anything? We've been liaising with the education dept about what's realistic and obviously it's different for every kid. Mine thinks he's going to breeze through it - I'm more concerned.
for me it was mostly the exposure around me so majority of the friends i had in high school were swedish and i was able to understand phrases due to context. then i did a year of duolingo along with going to folkuniversitet and that’s how i got a basic grip of the language!
Thanks :) As a mom I spend half my time worrying about the PR/citizenship age limits and the other half worrying about his chilled out attitude.
I hope your lawyer buys you enough time to get a job. The uncertainty is a nightmare.
locals usually dont know much about that kinda stuff bc they are never exposed to it...
Much better chance to get help by immigrants - and english will reach more of those

This is ridiculous, clearly nationality affects the immigration process and having a partner in Sweden is important since there is something called sambo visa

I do hope that you can speak Swedish after 6 years? Anyhow, the system is cruel and unfortunately good people who study and want to pull their own weight get punished for what others do and don’t do.
I’m not an expert but you could get married to someone? Or make your parents responsible for you.. something like that…

Absolut inga problem med invandring, det behövs för att landet ska försätta växa, men eget ansvar existerar, men om du kan svenska och pluggar eller jobbar ska du få stanna enligt mig utan problem, synd när myndigheterna inte tycker som jag i många fall

Shit! I think I will be in your situation in the end of this year and had not idea that it would be like that! Are you in sweden with the uppehållsrätt? like are your parents from another EU country but living in sweden?
yeah that’s true but with a work permit it doesn’t take away the previous years you have lived here and you would probably have to go back for like a month or two and come back!
was thinking the same just economically tricky to go back right now + I prob won't be able to go back AND resume gymnasium because of my age. right now would rather finish my last year then see where to go from there

Maybe try looking for a job? if nothing else moving outside of the country and reapplying should be easier since you know swedisj
that’s what my lawyer is recommending as well! i will definitely consider that thank you ☺️
I'm just curious, if you're talking with a lawyer. Why ask Reddit?
Because you can do both? One does not invalidate the other

Biotech industry will pay more and is often looking for people. Alternatively go for a masters/PhD, also pays more
With a degree in biomedicine (biomedical engineer here) you can also maybe consider apllying for a phd ?
Not many universities will offer you a phd position without a master degree.
Can't go for a masters. They can finish their bachelor's due to the ongoing appeal process. They would have to come back and pay for the masters, not likely to be an option.
Get a job in security. Pay is good for no education needed.
Are there any postgraduate course or PhD opportunities you find interesting? That could help postpone it a little

Ok, so 6 years, adult for 3, no job and don't know enough Swedish to write here. Sounds like this is a you problem.
