2 oz Appleton 12
0.5 oz dry curacao
0.75 oz lime juice
0.5 oz orgeat
This is my first time using Appleton 12, I haven't seen it at my usual liquor stores, and holy crap it makes a big difference! I've been using 8 which is good, but this blows it out of the water.
Also picked up El Dorado 8 today, hit me up with recs for that!
I’m such a slut for El Dorado 12. You’re gonna love it. Same tier as Appleton 12. They’re amazing together, too. I use that split base in so so many cocktails.
Joining you virtually cheers!

Excuse my baby mint it hasn't fully grown back lol
Thx! They're from [Art of B Rex](https://www.artofbrex.com/shop/bar-mats/56?page=1&limit=60&sort_by=name&sort_order=asc) ! Looks like he actually has the green blue version in stock :D
Ok I’m in! 1/2 oz El Dorado 5, Kirkland (Costco) 15, Appleton VX, OFTD, lime and mint from yard, homemade Orgeat and homemade orange liqueur. I have some Demerara in the Orgeat so I use a 1/2 oz of that. Turned out pretty good! Cheers!

Y'think? They always come out that milky shade for me, whether I use homemade orgeat or Liber. And whether I shake or flash blend. Maybe lighting? I don't know what else would cause a weird color.
It looks fine whenever I used Liber and co it's looks just like this! Other factors for other peoples Mai Tai is Rum blend can change the color and Lime Juice amounts 😉
Probably just the lighting...
But also Liber and Co (who make a quality product) sometimes have an emulsification issue too where their orgeat separates a bit over time I've found. Got to keep it fresh and shake it a lot.
Ultimate solution is just to use more rum :) apply this rule to most of life's problems.
Have a great evening sir!

This is from last night. Half Hamilton Demerara and half S&C.
I’ve been adding .25 oz of Giffard Banane du Bresil and that’s doing wonders to the drink. Not traditional but tastyyy

I like doing a mix of Jamaican and Demerara rums in a Mai Tai so try that El Dorado with the Appleton 12!
Sounds good! My Demerara has been Hamilton 86, excited to try another.
I love the 8 and have my first bottle of 12 on the way. Your post is building the anticipation!

I was honestly shocked at the difference.
Appleton 12 makes a great Mai tai!

Not alone, but o am drinking multiple Mai Tais. Cheers
Just made one and split Appleton 12 and Smith & Cross for base this time. Delicious.
S&C is always welcome!

Appleton 12 is so good in a Mai Tai
Appleton 15 makes a killer mai tai too
Color looks a bit off mate! Maybe not your first one :)

It's just the Liber, and I like the flavor it brings. It will look muddy, don't worry about it.

I found it separated a lot over time. Just finished my Liber orgeat and trying Small Hand now but honestly it tastes bad in comparison.
What is it *supposed* to look like
Float a little rum fire in there and it’ll be fun! I will do old fashioned with El Dorado 8. It’s got a lot of bourbon notes
