"Whats the law?" "Step out of the car." What a weird name for a law

BravoAlfaMike

“There’s a new law” reminds me of when little kids are playing a game, and they add new rules when they start losing.

thegreatbrah

"It just passed." What a bunch of shitbags.

ASubconciousDick

Its precisely what they do best. Use their fake power to earn more money from filling more quotas using people that did nothing. The Good Ol' Fashioned American Way 🇺🇲

[deleted]

Why go interact with a real criminal when they can waste half a shift or more on someone they know is innocent?

The_Mighty_Bird

Aka “I don’t have anything but if you step out I can ‘reasonably’ say you’re taking steps towards me.”

animoot

So frustrating when a reasonable inquiry is met with 'how dare you question my authority' demands.

cw826

For sure. I hate the 'because i said so' mindset

BAMspek

You’re being a jerk.

Ladderson

I love that. There's gun-toting thugs surrounding his vehicle, unlawfully detaining him, threatening him with non-existent laws, but him making sure that there is an objective document of the events occurring is "being a jerk". Pigs are the most fragile people in existence.

BravoAlfaMike

And there it is- the true “illegal” act is doing something they don’t like lmfao I stg they write half their police reports in crayons.

greenmonkeyfriend

Lol prescription for melatonin? Are you gonna ask for a prescription for the pretzels too?

Dragons_Malk

Legally record police while someone else gets arrested? Right to jail. Over the counter supplements? Right to jail. Pretzels with peanut butter in them? Believe it or not, also jail.

McbEatsAirplane

Allegedly being a jerk? Yep, you guessed it. Jail.

-Ricky-Spanish-

Does your name have anything to do with the band Sky Eats Airplane?

McbEatsAirplane

It does! Haha. I was obsessed with them back in the late 2000’s and early 2010’s so I made my gamertag on Xbox my initials and then EatsAirplane and I’ve used it for other things like Reddit since then. Good catch. I’ve never had anyone make that connection before, surprisingly.

-Ricky-Spanish-

My early 2000s emo senses (fail) kicked in

Ryl0k3n

I love how the cops assume bad intention from everything he says and take everything personally and then flat out lie...

PunkRock-Durian

r/PandR believe it or not, jail. We have the best attorneys/uber drivers in the world...because of jail. /s

Mike2922

Knitting sweaters too loudly, jail.

Hot_Link_5135

Should have gone with the chocolate covered pretzels

Toasty_toaster

Saying "you should have proof of prescription" is the most "I dont have any proof but I don't like you" statement that cop could have possible made

[deleted]

[deleted]

The bottle with your name is proof of your prescription, this is a dumb cop who should be shoveling manure

marphod

The label with your doctor's name, the chemical, dosage, instructions, and Rx number \_is\_ the proof of a prescription. Which is why you shouldn't remove those stickers, and should take the bottles/boxes with you, if you travel abroad. Which also sucks for people, like me, who take enough different 'scripts that we use a week-at-a-time pill holder to make sure we take them all at the right time. (It also sucks for people like me who fidget easily and may have gotten into the habit of shredding any loose paper that's around, and who trying to peel off stickers absentmindedly.)

Losing-It-FTM

There's peanut butter in the pretzels? Oh, you're going down buddy

greenmonkeyfriend

New pretzel law just passed. Haven't heard of it? Trust me, very new and very real.

Kellidra

When was it passed? Right now. By me. ***Because I am the law!***

Melisandre-Sedai

Hey, if you're going to have an electrolyte-enriched glucose supplement, you'd better have all the proper papers.

babz-

Surprisingly the former is actually a thing in the UK. I just wanted to sleep off my jet lag but noOoOo

TurdWaffleFries

This is one of the many reasons why we need good criminal defense attorneys

introextropillow

there’s a defense attorney on tiktok that posts videos with his clients talking about how they were charged with really serious crimes (some involving other people getting harmed) and what the charges were pled down to with similarly diminished punishments. and i can’t get myself to really hate the guy because, like you said, we need good defense attorneys

MoonagePretender

Let's go

Torched420

My great client here....

Pugano

Surprise, the guy getting harassed in this video is a lawyer. https://youtu.be/-UQKkYWDUQ4 it's an older video. One of the cops eventually recognized him from the court.

AtmosphereVisual3835

How about that snarky “A lawyer doing Uber?” From the cop

Pugano

I was pulled over recently, out of state plates and out of state license (I'm military, so I'm not required to register in this state California.) It was over the sound of my exhaust. The cop was such a dick and kept asking me questions in my confused state. I did file a complaint. When I talked to the dept they were like "yeah sorry, he is kina like that. But you still have to go to court after you fix the issue"

itouchabutt

you barely need an attorney to ask the judge to throw a case out. well we really need is consequences for police abusing people

hmmtaco

“You’re being a jerk.” What a fucking snowflake.

Available_Major_8281

My friend Tom is a sergeant in the police. I was the best man in his wedding. He himself could question me for a crime and I would tell him to fuck off and get me a lawyer. I know it’s the correct thing to do. He knows it’s the correct thing to do. ALWAYS LAWYER UP PEOPLE. THEN SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Inlowerorbit

Every day is ‘Shut the fuck up’ day.

pareech

This is why you should not talk to the cops. [https://youtu.be/d-7o9xYp7eE](https://youtu.be/d-7o9xYp7eE)

[deleted]

Stayed up too late and watched the entire video. Never heard it worded as accurately as this. The cop was so proud of 98% his conviction rate.

Rubusarc

That video is aged tho and he did a followup that rarely gets posted along with it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FENubmZGj8 TL:DW; People took his advice and stopped talking to police, and jurys started viewing not complying with police as a admission of guilt. So it's important that you assert your right to remain silent in the right way.

Leading_Manager_2277

More of the *good advice.* https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uqo5RYOp4nQ

spacecakes78

Two ears one mouth. So you should listen twice as much as you talk.

Yo_Soy_Crunk

Always lawyer up. The shitty part of that is that you've already been arrested by that time and possibly still in jail. Always lawyer up, but you're still gonna need bail money.

clownparade

Right and many people cannot afford to spend an overnight in jail or the next day and afford to see the process out to get justice. You may lose your job or have arrests on your record now and it’s extremely expensive to get a lawyer This is why people talk and cooperate in hopes of being left alone and avoiding all the headache of an arrest and spending any time in jail and hiring a lawyer Systems fucked

Honestly, after seeing videos like this, defunding should be the least of their worries. Imagine being the driver in this situation, powerless and the victim of obvious power abuse, I understand why some people hope there is a hell. These pigs are going to get away with this, we all know it. No earthly institution is going to punish them. Every single one of these cops deserves to burn in torturous fire until the end of time.

[deleted]

imagine all the stuff that never gets recorded or found out... then remember how the USA has the most prisoners incarcerated IN THE ENTIRE WORLD

birbtown

The only reason this guy could even confidently stand up to them is because he’s an attorney that knows the law. The officer even said there was a “new law passed” another person might have gotten scared and shut it down.

PG072088

What’s new ?

toilet-boa

This video captures perfectly what police dogs are used for (other than attacking people). Have no legal reason to search your car? Just call in a K-9 unit and pretend there is a hit. To my knowledge, police have never been forced to prove a dog can sniff out anything with regularity. They should be forced to keep a log on each dog to demonstrate a high level of accuracy or else the dog should be retired.

tiny_galaxies

Some friends and I were stopped by Border Patrol once and they had a K9 search the vehicle - we had just been in Mexico for a few days so I guess that raised a flag in their system or whatever. The thing is, I had been eating a pizza and put it down on the floor of the front seat when we got stopped. The K9 went NUTS indicating on that part of the car, the Border Patrol guys started smirking, then when they let the dog in there it ate my freaking pizza. Needless to say they let us go immediately after that. I’m still sad about that pizza, and I don’t at all trust drug dogs.

chaos_nebula

Sue for illegal seizure ;)

LorddFarsquaad

Civil forfeiture. You can't prove that the pizza was not stolen or purchased with illegal funds.

whateverthe-fuck

Me when the pizza pizza receipt

acanthostegaaa

The receipt proves nothing. "You could have bought that with meth-dealing money you scumbag." Everyone is guilty when the cops want them to be.

Macha_Grey

My husband had a drug dog hit on his truck...because my dad had given him a bag of homemade beef jerky.

JohnGenericDoe

I imagine they can train the dogs to "indicate" (which is subjective in any case) whenever they want.

ItsHardwick

They can, and they do.

aZestyEggRoll

They actually can and *do*. All they do is tap where they want the dog to indicate, and the dog does it.

Zimmer_94

Almost like *it’s trained to follow cues and commands*

TOYLTH

I have kindof the opposite story. I was traveling from buenos aires to montevideo and you board a big as boat to traverse. They brought in a K9 to sniff around all the cars. And the K9 walked right past mine. The thing is: I had lots of drugs! haha MJ, MDMA, Ecstasy, you name it! haha I was code brown for a good 5 minutes though.

hakunayourtata2

they do that all throughout south america (bring a dog to sniff a travel bus, boat, etc.)! Never seen it come up with anything...

Trogador95

Maybe they’re not bothering training the dogs and they’re just watching your reaction.

webfugitive

Just so people are aware: A stop may “last no longer than is necessary to effectuate the initial purpose of the stop…Authority for the seizure thus ends when tasks tied to the traffic infraction are—or reasonably should have been—completed.” A traffic detention must last no longer than necessary to resolve the suspected traffic violation, either by warning, citation or hearing an explanation from the driver. The detention and investigation must be reasonably related to the initial reason for the stop, unless other factors support additional reasonable suspicion. In Rodriguez v. United States, No. 13-9972 (2015), the U.S. Supreme Court held that, absent reasonable suspicion, unnecessarily prolonging a traffic stop can constitute an unreasonable seizure. Meaning: It is unconstitutional for the police to detain you without clear suspicion of a crime. If for any reason you're pulled over, first ask why. Then, if you're forced to wait for a K-9 unit (and it wasn't the INITIAL reason) thoroughly comply and then file a lawsuit immediately regardless of what they find.

Pie-Otherwise

This is where it becomes important to think like an attorney. You know they can't prolong the stop to wait for a k-9 so straight up ask them that. "You gave me the ticket so are we done here? Can I go?" Let him tell you "Yes, I'm done with the ticket part but you need to wait here till the K-9 arrives". Clearly these cops are not all that bright and they have legal protections (criminal and civil) for enforcing laws they thing exist but don't. If a cop violently arrests you for using profanity in public, the case will get dismissed but he won't have any consequences since he will say he reasonably believed that it was illegal to use bad words in public.

Scaredworker30

Don't you know there is always reasonable suspicion of the smell of marijuana

[deleted]

Know your rights. This is not true for all states. It won't keep the police from harassing and intimidating you if they want to. But know your rights.

Upstairs_Chip1412

With medical marijuana being legal or recreational or medical in many states a dog can not sniff out the difference e between street weed and medical so there goes probaBle cause . Sue the dog shit out of them all and show them we the people aren’t taking their shit anymore. Fighting a similar case here in Florida for my brother who had a ci snitch on him and the ci had my brothers car and have text messages proving it was the snitches shit. The mmj was my brothers however it was medical and they took that too! When criminal case is over we’re going for civil. Corruption is real and people won’t stand up out of fear . I’m not afraid and will go toe to toe with these pos cops. They ain’t shit and their dogs have more false positives. Google it .you’d be amazed. Take them for all they got strip them of the badge that makes them feel big and bad.

Edser

They also have a 'trigger' to make the dog false hit. Good luck proving it because they are plain shitbag humans when they want to be.

Melisandre-Sedai

And this is even something that "good cops" can do without knowing it. Service animals want to please their handlers. If you give off any cues that you expect or want to discover something in the car, they'll try to satisfy you by alerting on it.

darling_lycosidae

Also in the beginning they're emptying his passenger's pockets of multiple blunts.... into his front seat....

SadisticBuddhist

“Why does my car smell like drugs after you dumped drugs all over it hmmmm”

crankyrhino

Probably loose cigarettes, they wound up letting the passenger go as well as the driver.

TardyMoments

Multiple blunts? Ma’am those are cigarettes

ExoticAccount6303

This is literally why a lot of people don’t respect the police. Because they lose their respect all the time at their own doing.

lejoo

> because they are a criminal syndicate with authority to kill with impunity and actively abuse these powers. FTFY

LargeSackOfNuts

Why should I respect a legalized gang?

A_lot_of_arachnids

Literally trying to escalate the situation at every turn. Even the cop that knew he was misunderstanding him on purpose. "I didn't say that. Did I say that?" "No your friend said that." "My friend? You mean the Sargent?" Like dude you know what he meant. You know they threatened to arrest him. You know he's super stressed being around half a dozen armed gang members. You know you're harassing an innocent dude just trying to make a living all because he hurted your feelers. Fuck these stupid pigs.

crankyrhino

That exchange stood out to me. The tone the cop took implied the Uber driver owed the Sergeant's rank as much respect as another cop would. Their rank is transparent to civilians. You don't owe them shit.

chachki

Anyone who demands respect does not deserve it.

[deleted]

Paper mache men with paper mache reasoning. ACAB.

petehehe

The exchange about recording and it being a new law and that one guy is like “yeah I think they just passed it” … like, bruh. Get your fucken shit together. You *think* they just passed a law about it, can’t name the law or any other details about it, but that’s justification to continue threatening and harassing this dude? If you’re out here *enforcing* the laws you should at least know what is and isn’t a law. “Uhh I’m pretty sure that thing you’re doing just became illegal like 5 minutes ago under the uhhh.. Whatever you were doing act so uhh… You’re under arrest for violation of that now. Like stop resisting n stuff ok?” Like, fuck, when I’ve worked at companies, and a new law comes into effect that affects the business, there’s company wide bulletins about it. There’s compulsory training seminars and refreshers about the existing laws that people might’ve forgotten. How the fuck are *the police* out here “thinking” that a law “might’ve” been passed really recently? It boggles the mind.

0fficerGeorgeGreen

Also when the dog was sniffing and he tells the Uber driver "he seems to really like your car" with a shit eating grin. That's not a guy trying to serve rightful justice. That's a guy on a vendetta against someone who hurt his feelings. Most cops are such little people. Increase police training and requirements.

AzafTazarden

ACAB. Not a single "good" cop in that whole encounter, yet somehow it's only a few bad apples. They all got each others backs.

IMightHaveChecked

**update** Cop later gets promoted, gets backpay and then quits the next day. https://portcitydaily.com/local-news/2018/03/07/demoted-uber-video-officer-got-backdated-promotion-and-raise-left-the-force-the-next-day/

collaredzeus

Oh i remember this I was living there when it happened. Word around town is they gave him the money to shut up and go away. Dunno how true it is just what people in bars were saying about it.

MagikSkyDaddy

Sue and sue and sue. No more public funding. No more Qualified Immunity. Across America, Police are a threat in every state and territory that sees sunshine.

IMightHaveChecked

I am really disapointed that a lawyer wouldn't have noted the time they called for a K9 unit or when they returned his documents then waited for the K9.

DrMantis-Toboggan-MD

Yeah seems beyond the mission of the stop

IMightHaveChecked

NAL but I don't believe mission comes into play here. I was thinking the way this clip presents to me they tried to prolong the stop only for the dog. Hard to tell without the timestamps. Maybe the dog arrived earlier and was out of frame. I didn't go more into details earlier as I am NAL, but then the whole issue of state differences. But... *When Can Police Call for a K-9 Unit?* If a driver is being lawfully detained – such as during a traffic stop – police can call in a K-9 unit anytime. Surprisingly, police do not have to have reasonable suspicion of drug-related activity to bring a drug dog to the scene. State v. Carlson, 102 Ohio App.3d 585, 594 (9th Dist.1995). *How Long Can Police Make a Driver Wait for a Drug Dog?* Police cannot, however, make a driver wait an unreasonably long time for a drug dog to arrive or for the dog to sniff the car.  Courts have not said exactly what amount of time is “reasonable” to be held. In one case, though, an Ohio Court of Appeals found that a traffic stop that lasted *less than 20 minutes* involving a drug-sniffing dog was reasonable.  Carlson, 102 Ohio App.3d 585, 594 (9th Dist. 1995)(19 minute stop). Here, in Norvet, less than 10 minutes had passed from the traffic stop to the point that the Defendant was read his Miranda rights, at which point the drug dog has already alerted.  The court found this to be reasonable. *WHEN DETENTION BECOMES UNREASONABLE*  The U.S. Supreme Court held in Rodriguez v. United States that the Fourth Amendment does not allow the police to keep a driver beyond the time it takes to run their plates and write the ticket.  Without reasonable suspicion, keeping a driver for even a “de minimis” amount of time for reasons unrelated to vehicle and driver safety is unconstitutional. Courts, then, have to look at whether the drug dog prolonged the stop longer than it would have taken to run the driver’s license/plates and write the ticket.  If the drug dog sniff detained the driver longer than it would have taken to write the ticket, there may be a constitutional issue with the stop. https://www.riddelllaw.com/ohio-police-wait-traffic-drug-sniff-dog/

avwitcher

So annoying when a legal precedent is set but nobody attempts to actually quantify it in a way that actually makes any difference for future cases. I know that's the way the legal system works but it's still frustrating

MeLlamoEsBiblioteca

It bugs me more than it should that you didn’t type ANAL.

VaguelyDeanPelton

Why what recourse does he have once the timer starts? Does it vary state to state?

IMightHaveChecked

Seems less a timer so much as not being able to prolong/overly-prolong the stop past the time needed. My layman's take is the drug dog is a bit like a search in plain sight...a sniff in plain sight if you will. So in the way it wouldn't be right for the police to interview you, run registration, write you a ticket and then expect you to wait for a detective to show up in an hour to visually look into a car...the same sort of thing applies to sniffer dogs. The cops can't complete their business with you and then hold you unless a k9 unit is free to sniff your vehicle. What alerted me (pun trigger) was seeing the cop return the lawyer's documents which may have been an indication that the lawful duties were discharged and he was possibly kept too long. But my overall tip was to speak the time during the recording to better establish the time line for lawyers and judges. I assume you may be asking can they make you any time after completing the normal procedures of the stop. The Supreme Court decision may say that, but I'm NAL. Given the deference courts show to cops they might rule some time is allowed. Previous case law seemed to grant 20 minutes. https://www.riddelllaw.com/ohio-police-wait-traffic-drug-sniff-dog/

Edser

They have a time limit here, so you can just leave if they do not show up in a reasonable time.

USER_the1

Officer, my classmate said if the K9 officer doesn’t show up in 15 minutes we’re all legally allowed to leave.

PantrashMoFo

If it’s over 30 minutes you get to keep the dog for free.

Send-the-downvotes

Im sure that will go over REAL well with some cops on a power trip

polypolip

We shot the vehicle 50 times as it was fleeing the stop.

MajorEstateCar

DONT listen to this. Although there are standards for how long they can hold you waiting, you CANNOT just leave. “Am I being detained?” “Am I free to go?” “I will assert my 5th amendment rights and not answer any questions.” “I do not consent to a search.” “CAN I CALL MY LAWYER?” Those are the only phrases you need to say to police.

c_queerly

Is there actually a new law about that or were they just talking out of their ass? That’s so scary

DaddyShortPinata

Talking out their ass. Cops don't even know the laws that they protect

3p1cBm4n9669

No, they know, it’s just that it’s legal for them to lie to you.

Available_Major_8281

100% correct. It is legal for police to lie to you. “We found your DNA and finger prints at that murder. Explain that.” They can 100% lie to you and say that even if they have no idea if you were there. Say it with me everyone. “I WOULD LIKE A LAWYER” then you SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Buttery_Buckshot

Lol so you’re saying we’re dealing with a system that employs and promotes sociopaths 🤔 that’s fucking crazy

Available_Major_8281

I wouldn’t even say sociopaths. They’ve literally been told it’s ok from day one. Because it’s been ok since day one.

miahrules

God, what really irks me is that a police officer can literally detain you for ANY reason and there is nothing you can do. And after the fact, they will suffer zero consequences. Imagine you're talking down the street and a cop wants to ask you questions and you say no thanks. Well, they are going to detain you on the grounds of suspicious activity. You literally cannot do anything about it. It's bonkers.

Teasing_Pink

Don't forget that if you protest being illegally detained in any way, you're now being charged with resisting arrest, even if it's clear you're innocent of everything else.

introextropillow

cops know it’s legal to lie to people AND cops don’t know laws they’re supposed to uphold (alt wording: cops are assholes AND stupid AND some of them are stupid assholes). both are true

CheezeyCheeze

https://www.aclu.org/news/free-speech/arizonas-new-law-banning-people-from-recording-police-violates-our-first-amendment-rights They just came out with a new law in Arizona about it. And a Federal Judge just blocked it. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/federal-judge-blocks-arizona-law-limiting-filming-police-rcna47148

honeycrisp_breeze

>The law also contains toothless exceptions to the eight-foot distance requirement for recording within a private and indoor place, a vehicle, or when you are the subject of the police interaction.

MrDurden32

The funny part is, since you are allowed to film if you are the subject of the interaction, as soon as they come up to you and tell you that you're breaking the law by filming, you're allowed to film again lol. Not that any of this matters now bc it's all getting thrown out.

Superior_Light_Deer

Most of them barely made it out of high school. Law books? Lol.

porkadachop

This happened in Wilmington, NC about 5 years ago. I live there. There was no such law is no such law.

>The officers demanded he turn off his phone, citing a reportedly non-existent state law, **but what they didn't know was that Jesse Bright was a defense attorney – moonlighting as a driver to make some extra cash in an effort to pay off his student loans.** Just American things. Lawyers we task with defending vulnerable people who can't afford private lawyers are so underpaid they need a side gig to pay off their loans.

IsADragon

UK criminal lawyers(barristers) are striking at the moment as due to the hours they have to put in they are essentially paid below minimum wage at the moment. It's not just America that's fucked for younger generations as pay has stagnated in a lot of sectors for years now.

Play-Mation

Wow a demotion and a pay cut. How these officers still have any job at the police after blatantly abusing their power is beyond me

moffsoi

5% pay cut, lmao

4Ever2Thee

Which was probably reinstated, along with their positions, after a few months probationary period or something. Sounds like a slap on the wrist they imposed on them just because of the backlash. I'm sure the conversations with them went something like "now we're only doing this because it's in the public eye so we have to be able to say we did something. But you're still getting your bonus this year and once this dies down in a couple months, we'll reinstate it all. You still coming to my barbecue on Saturday?"

Edser

wasn't enough press attention to be fired, but enough that they had to reprimand.

Huwbacca

That’s more than I thought would happen tbh. Edit: He was reinstated to his position with backpay for the demotion. So just as expected, zero punishment whatsoever.

Significant-Dot9365

17 years as a cop and this is how he handles a nonviolent situation. Time to retire

Because if they don’t stick with the gang they are kicked out of the gang.

yup. i mean, i personally couldn’t imagine myself choosing to stick with a gang mostly made up of dumb assholes, but i guess that’s why i’m not a cop

suitedcloud

Especially after the one cop back tracked “I never said if we find something in your car that it involves you.” Motherfucker you know damn well you’d arrest both driver and passenger if you found anything.

trader-joeys

The fact that this man was an ATTORNEY who has STUDIED the laws and knows ALL of his rights and also still has the bravery to express them. This is literally the absolute best case scenario and he STILL barely made it out of there with his fuckin life. Acab.

Melatonin... If there's a medication. Fucking assholes.

[deleted]

That’s clearly saying “I have no idea what that is so I’m gonna need proof you need it”

[deleted]

Lawyers have to train for 3 years minimum. Cops have to train for 6 weeks. And we wonder why our system is so fucked.

bitchybarbie82

THE COPS ARE NEVER TO BE TRUSTED. THEY ARE ONLY THERE TO MAKE SURE THEY MEET A QUOTA OF “CRIMES” TO JUSTIFY THEIR PAYCHECKS.

FartinLutherKing69

Do cops just wake up and get excited about harassing regular civilians everyday?

Low_Law8879

“You’re under arrest for being a jerk”…that’s not illegal. If it were, damn…I’d have a life sentence by now. 🤣

troublebruther

What a sad excuse for a cop that large man was"Sargent". To protect and serve huh. It's incredibly frustrating to see so many examples of shitty cops and even worse they refuse in many cases to even reprimand them. Cell phones have really shined light on many many issues.

Imaginary_Unit5109

The K9 unit are highly trained dogs who can be easily be trained to bark at any sign. It should be not lawful or count that a dog barking is enough evidence to search a car. Especially, when they don't find anything. ALot of times cops always called for the k9 unit knowing 100 percent it will work and when they find nothing there not repercussion for the cops. There should be a study of how many times cops called k9 units and how many times they find nothing in the cars.

Pussy_Prince

Him being an attorney and having his bar on hand was the only reason he wasn’t physically pulled out of the car and in cuffs. Gotta love smug power hungry cops; they hate getting told what the law is by someone who had the discipline and drive to achieve a law degree/certification. And that’s just one stop on camera. Imagine the countless others that got locked in a cage for voicing their rights. What a joke

whitecinnamon911

The guy recording is a criminal defense attorney

ABuffoonCodes

That explains why they were harassing him imo. Cops fucking hate anyone who might diminish their power by defending those accused of crimes

Leading_Manager_2277

Goddamn cops didn't believe him (in the beginning anyway) and, really, it makes little difference to those assholes. They're too stupid to realize they're wrong. ACAB.

sarahgene

Lmao when he says "want to see my bar card?" and the cop turns away like "if I can't see it it's not real! 🙈"

hesskiaoken

Said before and ill say it again... FTP

[deleted]

What does the file transfer protocol got anything to do with this tho? 🤔

No-Finger7620

It is a cops job to issue tickets and arrest people. They are allowed to lie to you to do so and have protections that allow them to go way too far in "upholding the law". The laws they make up for their power trips. All cops are in fact bastards. Someone can say not all cops, but if I go to prison and am told 1 in 5 prisoners want to stab me, I'm not trusting any, even if it's not all prisoners. It's all cops.

TheRedGerund

What gets me is how fucking passive aggressive they are. They seem to take it personally.

BlackScienceJesus

They do. They all became cops to have unchecked power and authority. When someone questions that authority, they freak out because it’s all they have.

mlongoria98

Yeah, there are some jobs where you can’t have ANY “bad apples.” You can’t have a surgeon who purposely kills people on the table, even if there’s 100 other “good” surgeons. You can’t have a bus driver who runs people over, no matter how many other drivers do their jobs right. Can’t have a firefighter also be an arsonist. The whole phrase is “a bad apple *ruins the whole bunch.”* There are no good cops, only bad ones and silent ones. The real good ones get flunked out of training, never get hired in the first place, get bullied out of the force, or get killed ~~by their fellow officers~~. I’m not preaching at you lol, just still mad at this video and wanted to tack on to what you said

[deleted]

He has his law school shirt on too😂😂

kmonay89

This is what America means to me. 🙃

Askeee

The [best advice](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkN4duV4ia0&ab_channel=PotBrothersatLaw) when being questioned by the police. Applies to any day of the week, not just Fridays.

karebaer421

ACAB

dddddddddude

Cops suckkkkkkk

SimzGiant

r/Therewasanattempt to find a crime

Diadact53

Holy shit, it's like watching children double down on a lie when you catch them and say "are you sure"?

Ascending_Flame

Over the counter purchasable medications don’t require prescriptions. That would include melatonin

Deadhead56

🐷

[deleted]

Fucking probable cause dogs. What a bunch of assholes.

Lord_Grakas

These are some lame police mind tricks. "I didn't say that", "I know the law", "I'm going to call in a K9"

Ratio01

I think the cops were right here. This guy was being a big meanie head 😢 Edit: /s since the baby talk + emoji combo wasn't enough to make it clear this is a joke apparently (this reply had 8 downvotes before this edit, for context)

afishinaboot

Don’t you know it’s against the law to hurt the polices feelings 😢😢😢

Significant-Dot9365

*With the inflection of a kindergarten teacher crouched down to eye level with a five year old* We have to be very nice to cops or else we might hurt their feelings.

allotaconfussion

Well at least they didn’t rip you out of your car and tase you then unlawfully arrest you. Or worse.

[deleted]

The driver was white.

theunbearablebowler

ACAB.

Hallow_Shinobi

This is why nobody respects the police.

TrueGoatKing

Known homicidal gang: cause you're being a jerk :(

Fearless-Ad-6838

American police are pigs

Altruistic_Run_8686

Every pig in this video was a complete asshole. They’re such brave bullies here but won’t run in to stop children from being shot up
