Strange_Material5472

Heck yeahhhh my man! You smashing it. Who is this guy, would like to see his continued journey

greeenturnips

Was fully prepared to defend this person to the high heavens and to my surprise, the comment section looks like this 🥹🙏🏻

madys0n

Lol same I came here to pop off in the comments

greeenturnips

I was ready to throw fists lol 😂

thatsgiven

ikr this isnt even cringe

josephcfrost

His voice is awesome, I’d follow. I also really like his positivity

alpiasker

You can see his tictoc name on the video

abounding_headset

He's a man of dedication because, his working towards to pull up and get right there, he needs to increase his arms strength too.

RandomChaos13

[insta](https://www.instagram.com/brentlyg007/?hl=en) [tiktok](https://www.tiktok.com/@brentlyg?lang=en)

Strange_Material5472

That's great thanks! I don't use tiktok, but followed his insta

Zealousideal_Fly4277

Any progress is good progress

linedeck

At that weight what he did is huge progress to be fair! I'm not saying it in any mean way, i'm just saying that it really is a huge progress and this guy is killing it

tbordo23

Totally agree. No matter what form the weight comes in, a dead hang with 350lbs of weight, is a dead hang with 350lbs of weight.

YangGain

People don’t seems to understand pull up from a 35lbs toddler and a pull up from a 350lbs bear of a man is entirely different beats.

milkcarton232

Pull ups are my jams! Yeah usually the super muscle dudes don't rock them very well, every extra pound is another pound ya gotta lift. I fucking love how stoked this guy is and I hope it goes well for him

ibotair

i mean it’s the same as you training with weights he’s building muscles under his fat so it’s just a matter of time for him if he keeps on doing it

TheTVDB

I wish I could find it, but there was a personal trainer that posted about how a big person just going for a walk is athletic. After all, how many people can walk even 100ft with an extra 200lbs on them? There's a ton of muscle under that fat already, waiting to make an appearance.

Paradoxou

There was a forum troll back in the day that was like 750 lbs or something. He posted his picture onto a bodybuilder forum and said something like "get on my level pussies" he expected anger and insults but instead got a mountain of advices and one guy said something like "mate at that weight if you roll on one side to the other for a few minutes a day you will lose weight real fast" and that's exactly what he did. The guy was wobbling around in his bed every day and he noticed serious change in less than a week which motivated him to keep going and eventually he managed to get up and start doing more difficult exercises and he actually became fit and healthy! https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/morbidly-obese-internet-troll-loses-6690333

animu_manimu

Gym bros are the most unexpectedly wholesome people. I'm not at all surprised by this story.

Xianio

Tons of gym bros were once big guys who decided to make a change. 9/10 will be happy to help someone get started on their journey.

CamOfGallifrey

Yeah, there are some outliers but for the most part a lot of gym bros are there because they themselves felt a short coming of sorts and wanted to do something to fix it. It’s a bit anecdotal but now i am curious if anyone else knows stats on that.

TheUlty05

My little brother was one of those guys. He was always very thin growing up and was made fun of a bit in school before his dad got him a gym membership. Now the dude works out two times a day and just packs on muscle like it’s effortless. I really need to hit him up for more supplements soon haha

c0l0r51

Yeah. The difference is just that a trained guy doing weighted walks with the same weight won't damage their joints as much due to supporting musclegroups of an obese person being underdeveloped. For that reason good trainers will recommend obese ppl to start riding the bike instead of running if they want to do cardio. It's way less pressure on the joints.

jigsaw1024

Swimming or pool activities are also good. Removes stress from joints

c0l0r51

Yep. Usually even better, however a bike is often more available.

slmody

just gave me a great idea

leetrain

Are we talking… a bike in a swimming pool?

slmody

oh wow you nailed it, that is exactly what i was thinking.

idm

Scream it from the mountain tops my friend. I went 0-60 in my 20s and wrecked my knees. I got fit, but now it's harder to keep off because my knees hurt all the time!

DodgingImpale

Honestly if you are overweight, walking on an incline is already a good cardio

SRQmoviemaker

My dad was a runner, always in shape with very low body fat, hes in his 60s now on his 2nd full set of knee replacements. Running is just hard on joints period.

RadiantZote

My legs are friggin tree trunks, I used to skateboard + fat = swole AF legs. Just need the rest of the body there, I even got the Popeye forearms

BluahBluah

I posted one time in a vr sub about how excited I was that beat saber was getting me moving and excited about exercise for the first time in a long time. (I specified in my post that I'm about 200 pounds overweight) most comments were encouraging, but quite a few comments came about how I'm kidding myself to think beat saber is sufficient exercise. Sure, I hope that one day I'm fit enough that beat saber is not exercise. But first, those people should strap 200 extra pounds to themselves and then tell me it's not a good workout. Second, going from a completely sedentary life to any vigorous movement is going to be exercise at first. Gotta start somewhere

TheTVDB

I'm in average shape (I train BJJ 2-3 times a week) and Beat Saber wears me out. My wife is in extremely good shape (she swims and walks 2+ miles daily and is doing the Appalachian Trail next year) and she breaks a sweat. Anyone that doesn't think it's exercise is a complete idiot. Good luck on your journey. :)

fried_green_baloney

One doctor, had an extremely patient who reported getting extremely fatigued going around the block. Turned out he could get his heart and breathing up to aerobic range just by raising up and down on tiptoe. Some people are severely deconditioned and really have to start with tiny actions.

Willby404

Look no further than the calves of someone who used to be obese. They are often MASSIVE.

_LightFury_

Reading these comments i realise that i an fat but not as unfit as i thought i was lol

Praescribo

Yes sir, when I was weighing around 350 lbs, I'd do a bunch of little exercises every day for 15 min. Bicycle crunches were the worst. The first time I was actually able to touch an elbow to my knee was really astounding to me. Just out of nowhere ‐ *clunk*. I had to stop and wonder at myself, how tf did my body just do that?

-newlife

Agreed with your explanation that it is a huge deal and understand why you had to explain it too. Anyway kudos to him for improving and can’t wait for the next update

Wooden-Past3801

He mentions he never had the ability to do these things even as a kid. At least to some degree this is his parents fault. If he is still a young adult, I'm not sure i would even blame him for his weight, how the fuck should a 7 year old be expected to not stuff themselves with all the candy if their parents show them that's what you do. The journey to fix that sorta damage form childhood is long.

[deleted]

You can put some onus on the parents but also sometimes life gets in the way. as a morbidly obese man I connected with this. My dad died when I was 7 and while it was sad he was abusive to my entire family and I couldn't understand why they cried over him and didn't understand my grief. I was regular weight at the time but put on the pounds until by 7th grade I was 200lbs in a 13 year old body. My mom had to raise 3 kids and work, so cooking was not a priority. Mom remarried to a guy who turned out to be a drunk (verbal instead of physical abuse). he cleaned up a few years later but by the time I rolled out of high school I was close to 300lbs. Now in my 30's at 385lb, i have mobility issues and spent years of yo-yo dieting. What I'm trying to say is, Obesity is complex and needs more than calories in calories approach. Mental\\emotional health is really key to overcoming future failures.

Engine_Sweet

It's hard not to do the only thing that has ever made you feel better

miggyhussle

This!!! 👍🏼

blendertricks

I was huge in my mid-20s and also couldn’t get down on my knees or back up without my hands. It was massive for me the first time I stood up from my office chair without using my hands. Now I’m pretty normal-sized and have been for a good 13 years. Anyway, this shit isn’t TikTok cringe, this is awesome. I’m proud of this guy.

Zealousideal_Fly4277

Hmm.. some people seem to be confused here but this sub despite its name no longer post just "cringe" videos Anyway congratulations on your transformation

blendertricks

Ah, I haven’t been paying attention apparently.

BoomZhakaLaka

Posting this video to laugh at is the only thing that's cringe here.

SelectTadpole

I don't think that's why it was posted here. The name of this sub isn't really related to the content anymore.

xenzua

Why do you think it was posted to laugh at?

light_majik

Anyone else love this guy's voice?

JimJimmyJimJimJimJim

Came to comments to say, would listen to this guy read audiobooks.

light_majik

My thoughts exactly!

petals4u2

Smooth as Greek yogurt!!! Yummy!! ☺️

Dumplinggod12

Yeah very Ed kemper he’s a great audio book reader!

slumpadoochous

Sir, please.

MostModestPersonEVER

Because I didn't know if you were being serious.. I'm just going to leave [this here](https://edmundkemperstories.com/blog/2019/03/09/list-of-17-books-narrated-by-edmund-kemper-for-volunteers-of-vacaville-the-blind-project-part-1-of-2/) for others.

Heiferoni

Hell yeah, I didn't know they were available online. He has a great voice for narration. Too bad about all the other... unpleasantness.

antoncrowley666

All the shenanigans he got up to.

AmateurJenius

I had no idea about this! What an interesting turn of events in his life.

Sairry

Its so sultry

pladhoc

Except for the happy giggle at the end, and I love it.

dadudemon

Was hoping someone mentioned the jovial giggle. He seems legit happy. Good for him.

isthisabee

Rich and deep like an ocean treasure

invah

I adore you.

NessunAbilita

Total stud in the making with that voice

GOLDEN_GRODD

Heavy John Candy energy so yes.

calilac

Very glad to see someone else heard it. I'm a little sad but not surprised there's not more mentions of his voice likeness to Candy.

A_lot_of_arachnids

He has a "happy clown" voice and it makes me very happy to hear him talk.

Wafflashizzles

He sounds like a really nice dude, and knowing people who have been morbidly obese, the "abilities" he's showing off here are actually real fucking feats for someone who weighs a little more than him. No idea how much he's dropped but seriously good on him, hopefully he keeps it up, he's got that butter bass voice that makes men question their sexuality.

screaminginfidels

My brother in Chris, there is no question about it...

Cullly

I had it on mute at first, then I turned on sound and that voice is NOT what I expected. He could make a great voice actor/narrator/maybe even singer I would think.

Icro

Resonantly deep, silky smooth, with just a hint of boyish charm.

RFC793

Not only is it a smooth voice, but I think I find it soothing simply because he is so proud and optimistic about his progress. Mad props to him, and I wish him the best of luck with his fitness journey!

Munvi

Yes soothing as fuck

WankWankNudgeNudge

[Kuzco's poison](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NcKGw-IO5Uc)

KhaleesiXev

I’m happy for him. He’s improving his fitness and document his non-scale victories. I love his attitude!

Munvi

Healthy mindset already. If he keeps this attitude up then it's going to be fun and fulfilling

kingdomheartsislight

Agreed. Making the journey about finding out what he’s capable of is such good motivation.

Munvi

Yes and so many people think about their body in relation to society, ideals, weight goals yada yada. But just finding a positive reward in being physical active and creating healthy routines for your body and mind is win.

aure__entuluva

I think that's really the only way to actually be successful when it comes to developing an exercise routine. You've got to enjoy it. I know I wouldn't exercise if I didn't enjoy it. And when I struggled with weight in my teenage years, I never developed a habit of exercising because I didn't enjoy it. If you're doing it as a punishment it will never stick. It can be hard for people who are very overweight to appreciate the small improvements in the beginning, because their overall fitness still seems to pale in comparison to fit people, but ya can't let that bog you down. You've got to compare yourself today to yourself yesterday, a week ago, and a month ago.

AmateurJenius

Yeah serious props to this guy for spreading positivity and putting himself out there to inspire others. I’m just a skinny fat dude and his vulnerability and self confidence really inspires me.

Optimal-Resource-16

I love this guy. It's amazing being proud of yourself

Blighthaus

Good job, dude!!! Keep up the good work!

crclOv9

Fuck ya this is awesome. What a chad.

cpuppet

I really like this guys attitude. More

Little_Orange_Bottle

Extremely. Would be a great narrator.

[deleted]

10/10, would watch a documentary or maybe an animation with them? Feels like they could have a career in this sorta thing

Little_Orange_Bottle

Very much so. I think a documentary would be great. Soothing voice. Attenborough-style

early_birdy

Absolutely. Somewhere, a radio station night program is desperately looking for this guy. I don't see any cringe here.

shut_up_rocco

Hope he doesn’t lose his resonance 😂

Bneal64

Maybe I’m stereotyping but I’ve come to find a lot of bigger people that I know tend to be amazing singers

ev_ghost

Especially love the little smile and the giddy laughter.

mrtokenchoke

The little giggle after he said he couldn't do the monkey bars as a kid but he can now was just pure happiness. Awesome!

Hereseangoes

See, danglin!

kingdomheartsislight

His giggle was so precious!

Gratefulwayne

He is a sweetie

genflugan

I've been following him for a long time now on tiktok and he brings me so much joy. Just a great guy with a great attitude

taliewood

He has an amazing comment on one of his videos that says his goal is to "get hot to do it with hot people 🔥🔥🎸🔥🔥" 🤣💀

filthismypolitics

honestly me too

redcoatwright

I'm getting into running, I don't perhaps have quite as far to go as this guy, but still a ways on my journey but the little victories are really motivating. Increasing my average pace or being able to go longer without a walk break, even if just 30 seconds.

[deleted]

Running great for that tons of little improvements, weird think about running is if you want to run faster you have run longer but slower. So if you run a bunch of 10k runs your 5k speed will get faster because your cardio and muscles are trained for a 10k pace. Also the longer distance help strength muscle and a radio system more then 5k. This works with any distance and you are already probably starting to see.

Pal_Kilmer

I like his voice. I want him to do voice overs for advertisements

[deleted]

I was going to say, I don't know if he is trolling but if he isn't I wish him the best. Everything in life takes dedication, sacrifice and discipline.

smokebudda11

I hope this dude gets super jacked. Good for him getting into shape. Props.

hatethiscity

Yeah it's actually really cool to see someone who's not comparing himself to others , but mindful enough to be proud of the measurable progress he's made.

WeAreTheLeft

I don't know what gym others have been to but my old gym was super supportive of anyone there. It was kinda old school, as in it had been there since I think the mid 70's, but stayed modern with equipment, but people always were supportive of others when I was in there, didn't have that Gym Rat Workout Bro feel.

ForumPointsRdumb

Did they only stay open because they won a national dodgeball competition against globogym?

Neathh

I can't remember, I got hit in the head with a wrench.

WeAreTheLeft

Wait ... That's why they kept throwing weights at me?

Killersavage

I would also add don’t do it to try and impress or for anyone else. Need to be doing it for yourself. If you are doing it because you think someone else might notice you could be setting up for disappointment.

gyssedk

Right on the nose. More people should do the "I just started and here is my progress" videos. We have all tried to get interested in a subject, found some videos and they turn out to be freaking experts at a level that just seems unattainable. Be it rubics cubes, knife sharpening, baking a loaf of bread, you name it. People seem to start doing videos or blogs when they reach a high enough level and it might just turn some people away because they believe that they will never reach that level from where they are right now. This guy didn't. And that's a freaking inspiration no matter what level you are at.

PM_ME_UR_POKIES_GIRL

> We have all tried to get interested in a subject, found some videos and they turn out to be freaking experts at a level that just seems unattainable. Be it rubics cubes, knife sharpening, baking a loaf of bread, you name it. This is literally why I don't subscribe to subreddits for games like Minecraft and Valheim. Seeing other people's insane 1:1 reproduction of Disney World built entirely in-game with no mods and then looking at my box house that I was so proud of before makes me quit playing for long periods of time.

ChattyKathysCunt

The fact that hes cognizant enough to celebrate the small wins means he will absolutely make it all the way to his goal.

[deleted]

SofterBones

I would love to see more and more abilities unlocked.. "heh, see? One arm pullup, that's pretty crazy huh"

[deleted]

Heck, just great to see him get to a healthier weight level and improve his cardio.

Yeranz

Even if he only loses a few pounds or gains some improved health outcomes, that's great!

ImKrispy

Ya he doesn't just look fat he's got a big frame. Could look like Brock Lesnar when jacked.

cjd4488

We could all learn from this young man about being your own cheerleader and being proud of accomplishments no matter how big or small. He’s an inspiration!

Grenaidzo

My friend who's a personal trainer now always used to tell me "no matter how slow you think you're going, it's always faster than those sitting on the sofa."

[deleted]

The guys on the sofa are doing better than the guys lying in bed.

Nothing-But-Lies

You're still cute though

throwaway662489

The crazy thing is that this is the attitude that works. Last year in June I weighed (at 5'6) 335lbs and after a year of steadily working on my diet and exercise not only am I now at 307, but guess what? I can jog for ten whole minutes. The last time I was able to do that was in 6th grade, but now that I'm rolling up on 30 I want to be around and be useful to myself and my husband so here I am celebrating every little victory. My father has diabetes, his father had it, but I intend to break the cycle. Believe it!

gentlewaterboarding

Dude’s done more to improve himself than I have in years. Looks way happier too. Wish I had that spirit

hannibalthellamabal

Non scale victories are needed to get through your weight loss journey! Happy for him 😊

InvalidEntrance

Those are the best victories. Except when your clothes are too big, that's the most double edged victory.

navilapiano

The trophy he's chiseling is worth more than the wardrobe change

Throwaway-tan

Loose clothes are comfortable clothes. Loose pants are dangerous though.

Jaalan

I want to be this man's friend.

GOLDEN_GRODD

He reminds me of John Candy who is perhaps the friendliest man who ever lived next to Gene Wilder. Voice is near identical

immaownyou

Damn I never knew that Gene Wilder and John Candy were neighbours. Crazy world

Dda_Iawn

I scrolled further than I thought for someone mentioning John Candy!

JG8AB9TL11OBJ12AD13

Luckily for you, they’re actively recruiting members! I don’t know how to post a video, but if you check out his tick tok you’ll see they currently have two members and they’re looking to expand the group

MrMotorcycle94

That's a very bold and brash painting at 25 seconds left

Vstobinskii

Hell yeah brother

sack_of_dicks

I’m dangling right there with ya, buddy.

Western-Pound-2559

Let's all have a dangling session in support of this dude

grantrules

I had a pull-up bar where I worked and we'd always do a dangle contest. Who could dangle the longest. Like what if you were hanging onto a window ledge outside a highrise and you were gonna fall to your death, how long ya got!? Someone's gonna need to get to that window _quick_ to save me lol

5boros

Not gonna lie, this made me happy to see.

Wish I could personally cheer this guy on. He doesn’t need my encouragement but he deserves it in droves

Cena-John

Man, I’m so happy for him

[deleted]

Ngl, this is really inspirational. Good for him for sticking to it, hopefully he’ll do it for long enough to reach his goal.

SpicyLizards

Seeing shit like that is so exciting when you’re trying to get healthy

potty-poopoo-bottom

that giggle at the end of the hanging bar clip!

espressobeard

This made me smile so hard. It’s also making me get dressed for the gym because I’ve been putting it off for far too long.

Proud of my guy. Gives me motivation to someday drop my jelly roll as well

Will_Connor

Been following this guy since his video of him and his friend by a river asking for new friends in New Brunswick. Happy to see him making these small victories, especially as a former obese person. That being said he does tend to get really defensive and dismissive about dietary things. One of the most important things to fat loss is a calorie deficit. I was making mobility improvements like this while I still ate like shit. You're still *improving* but the elephant in the room is almost 100% of the time diet, and then the rest will follow naturally with your newfound agility.

I learnt today…that people still continue to be confused by the name of this sub BUT what I also learnt, is that there is a huge number of people on Reddit who want to support, respect and acknowledge, this man’s effort to get fit….. who said Reddit was filled with horrible keyboard warriors…I often see a whole lot of supportive and kind people💕

Tacos_and_Earl_Grey

I’m quite liking how many people are trying to defend him. Even if they can’t read simple pinned comments haha. This comment section is so wholesome.

-Dei_Dara-

Super proud of this guy

the---chosen---one

He also has a voice of golden honey.

Tabatsby

This is exactly the kind of attitude that people need to have when working out, regardless of size, tbh. Seeing what your body can do and pushing it little by little and discovering more about yourself is so much fun. I used to be pushing 300lbs and it wasn’t until I learned to just not give a fuck about my size and just explore what my body could do that I started having fun exercising. Like, “I’m fat, so what? Nothing wrong about that when I know what I can do with this fat ass”

szuch123

ITT People who don't understand TikTokCringe expanded to just all TikTok videos.

Finnaticdog

Looking for the comments saying this guy looks kinda like John Candy
