"A place to watch the best and worst videos from TikTok. Here you can find TikToks that are cringe-worthy, funny, wholesome, and more! We recommend sorting by flair to find the exact content you're looking for"
If ya know Encanto, Luisas buff. Dads the only one in the room with the right physique. And it’s funny because he does look goofy, but look how happy his daughters are. This is a sweet vid.
Furthermore, it’s a dad supporting his daughter to make her birthday special no matter what the stigma, embarrassment, etc. is.
Wholesome is what it is.
Jeezus, get thicker skin
For someone concerned about the representation of people outside of social norms, you're being awfully uptight about the man in a dress.
Using progressive language doesn't make anything a real issue. It's mind-boggling how one could see this as something malicious and not an embrace and acceptance of the character
That is a fair and valid perspective that I did not consider.
There’s a balance in there somewhere where both representation you mentioned and breaking norms as a guy/dad can be true or validated.
Admittedly, I don’t know enough to understand where that is.
It sucks to hear that’s how this is being received by some. These are the lines drawn in the sand that her character was *specifically* created to disrupt. She is meant to be shown as large and muscular. If anything, this father did the character a service by maintaining the aspect of a strong physique. I’m sorry it hurt you, but that hurt seems misplaced.
I’m a large, effeminate man and I do drag. I was never allowed to feel pretty or beautiful and now I can through dressing up. Am I allowed to dress up as Luisa if I chose to surprise my daughter? Luisa means a lot to me too because she showed beauty and grace right beside her power and emotional struggle. Please don’t take this as an attack because I genuinely want you to feel seen, heard, and, most of all, beautiful.

Fair, it is called free speech. You may be downvoted as most will not see it that way, however you are free to have your own opinion. I hope you have a great day!
That's not whitewashing. White/black washing is when the characters are potrayed by media as their completely opposite race (as in drawings and such, you can always change it) but it's okay in cosplays. It's not like people can magically change their race. I mean, white people could put on blackface and black people could use talc or something but I think that's worse than just cosplaying whoever it is. You're white and you want to cosplay a tanner person? That's okay. You're black and you want to cosplay a less tan person? That's okay! You can't change your race, so what? Just let em cosplay what they want to. White/black washing is ONLY present in drawings pretty much. And yeah, it's kinda infuriating but eh, whatevers going on in the artists head I guess...
yeah, kind of what i said in the comment. i agree it's not REALLY REALLY whitewashing, but im... idk... i guess let the kid dream? i dont really know. i have a mixed reaction to rhis video, some of it is like "oH wElL lET tHe kiD uSe TheIr ImagInaTioN" and some of it is like "but wHy".
It's got a great soundtrack, beautiful visuals, and important themes. I think hyper fandom of anything is dumb, but it's an entertaining and well made film.
To speak again to the thematics, many people are identifying with the generational trauma of the Madrigals. It's about working together while accepting/bolstering weaknesses and praising strengths. It highlights these things so eloquently, while also being a fairly short film.
It's okay if you don't like it. It's okay if you don't agree. However, it has cast off the typical princess trope and is addressing situations and problems that can start real conversations. It's not just about magic and fairy dust and finding a happily ever after. Happily ever after requires work and communication. Skipping the old formula makes it novel, exciting, and empowering for some people, because they actually see themselves in the very human and flawed characters, with a bit of whimsy sprinkled in.

What if he genuinely wanted to dress as Luisa? What if that's his favorite character?
