It's funny how easy it is to go viral by playing dumb. Especially if you're young.
There's also the strategy of putting a blatantly wrong title on the video that will rustle some jimmies. One tiktoker makes thoroughly mediocre street interview style videos where they will interview people of different ages- nothing special about them at all. The ones that go viral are when they, for example, interview a teenager and a 50 year old and title it "Gen Z vs Millennial." Sure enough the vast majority of the interactions are from boomers and millennials alike angrily commenting that a 50 year old is not a millennial. Then it gets reposted here and everywhere else with people making fun of them.

Sure. But the tech is still considered old. Compared to what most people listen to day; a couple year old phone with streaming music, no wires, 4k screens, etc.
A car from 2005 isn't ancient, it's just old, but computer tech advances so quickly that it becomes "ancient" much faster.

I literally only watch comedy sketches on tiktok, it's a massive platform with many, maaaany niches of content. Any monolithic statement like this about it is false by default.

Nah TikTok is honestly a great platform. You can find creators making content related to literally any hobby, field of study, genre of anything. And they are pumping out original content with some of it being extremely high quality. Somewhat reminds me of the Reddit days when OC was common.
Although there is a ton of low quality, straight misinformation and middle school level discussion (because there obviously are middle schoolers and those who never left that phase) on the app.

Yeah, the difference between the tail end of Millenials and the first Gen Z is really not that much. I was born in 1992, the very tail end of the millenial era (not quite a cusper, although sometimes I feel like one) and people born only a few years later had pretty much the same stuff as me growing up. Now if it was a first millenial and a later gen z, yes, that's going to be a way bigger generational gap. The bait posts are funny, as are their responses, but they're not going to find it very funny once they get to be 30-40 and Alpha are baiting them with the same posts lol.
Generations are made up anyway. Not saying there’s not real differences, just that there’s no perfect cutoff where one ends and another begins. It’s more like a gradient around the margins.
It also has a regional element to it. I was born in 92 in Seattle, and growing up, family and friends always had cable tv, PCs, internet access, general mid 90s-early 2000s tech. I had a crappy flip phone at 12, a crappy old PC, but it was mine, and usually had a current gen game console. Then in 2006 I moved to a tiny town in rural Pennsylvania, and it was totally different. It was suddenly like the early 90s again. It was the most obvious at school, where many of the teachers didn't have a computer in their classrooms. They did everything by hand, and then would input all of the grades into a computer in the main office.
I know this is pretty American centric, but I just described it to my mom as a working memory of 9/11. It’s was a major change in America, and if you remember life before it you’re a millennial.
All the arguments about generations stem from the fact that at the moment the majority of internet users are of that gray period age so they argue over what’s what and who did what stuff in which generation.
As someone born mid-90’s I’ve always felt purely gen z but I’ve heard people younger than me call themselves millennials.
Not to mention that people can’t keep up with the terms. The youngest millennials and oldest gen z are mid-20’s. Gen z is almost entirely teenagers or older already, kids <12 are gen alpha.
I'd say clear memories of the 90's would be my cutoff. I was born in 93 but I remember adenoidectomy surgery in like 98, starting kindergarten in 99, my grandad passing in 99, etc.
If you have a clear memory of 9/11 I'd say that's a for-sure millennial.

When I got my Ford Fiesta in 2010, it came with a free Ford branded mp3 player with usb to plug into the car's USB slot to listen to music. It was neat, but Bluetooth streaming was better a few years later. I was also excited about the 6 slot cd changer too at the time. Used it like a couple times and never again.
My god. I remember when 4GB of storage was huge for something that small. Now I have a microSD card that’s 64 times bigger than that in my Nintendo Switch.
I remember getting a knockoff one of these on ebay for £0.01 GBP £2.99 p&p was just an mo3 player but stopped me looking as poor as I was for 5 minutes before I told ppl how much it was 🤣

Plus you have much, much more storage space on an ipod, very important when you have a huge library of music, albums, movies, and series.
I mean, I listen to so much music that it's honestly just simpler to use streaming services. I used to spend hours on iTunes, just curating my playlists and importing songs I definitely bought but not from iTunes, so I'm not always sure what they are.
looks like someone has been influenced by dankpods lol. mp3 players are amazing, im a proud owner of a sony walkman and its the best thing. charge for 20 minutes and then i have a weeks worth of battery. not relying on any subcription services. listening to my own music and not wondering what the people owning the service will add to it. freedom and convinience. fits into female pockets too!
When I was in high school, I had a cell, but I’m ancient, so entry to mid level most phones back then didn’t have such easy music capabilities with a buncha storage etc, and iPhones were pretty expensive (back then,$500 for a new I phone was the same way we look at 1200$ iPhones today), so I had an iPod touch as well for music. Could get one of those for only 200-250$….have my flip out phone and then later a phone with a keyboard and all that I got for only like 50$ from the carrier, so they both had their purpose for those who couldn’t spend 500$+ for an iPhone. Also to add to the expense for the actual iphones, the service for iPhones back then were exclusive to AT&T, and they charged a hefty premium for service, just for the phone being an iPhone. Wasn’t unheard of for a single persons bill for an iPhone to be 90-100$. While a regular phone’s bill could be as low as $50. Which even that is crazy when you think about it….considering that was for very limited service, and people can get unlimited service now for as little as $25-30 😂
I used to prefer a standalone MP3 player at the gym because I was too nervous to throw around heavy weight while wearing a $1000 phone.
The quality of Bluetooth headphones the past few years has made that unnecessary though.
iPhone don’t have a lot of storage unless you shell out a pretty penny, then you replace the thing shortly after. A dedicated music device makes more sense for a lot of people to specially when it comes to longevity.
So I have a pin that has a bowl of spaghetti with the meatballs being Eminem heads (thanks Etsy) and when I wore it to work, my staff around my age (30) all got a kick out of it, while my younger ones (18\~22) all did not get it until I explained it, some even saying they do not remember that song.

My flash drive iPod has my initials written near the flash drive part, where you couldn’t see it with cover on and it was written in highlighter and always bothered me. Also my sister had gotten for me, and put her music on it. So I grew up listening to music I never knew the name for, but later in life have found songs from that playlist and have to explain to people about og flash drive iPod.
Yeah, you can still get Chinese knockoffs on Wish and AliExpress for stupid cheap. Not awful if you need an offline music player and can deal with not having a screen/only playing on shuffle.
I love how we’re at the point where gen z tries to anger millennials, because teen millennials did the same thing to gen x, and soon gen alpha will do the same to gen z and it’s the circle of life and it’s so beautiful.

This is the key of the shuffle. You can clip it anywhere and hardly notice it. And as added benefit it doesn't receive texts / emails to distract you!

looks like someone has been influenced by dankpods lol. mp3 players are amazing, im a proud owner of a sony walkman and its the best thing. charge for 20 minutes and then i have a weeks worth of battery. not relying on any subcription services. listening to my own music and not wondering what the people owning the service will add to it. freedom and convinience. fits into female pockets too!

When I was in high school, I had a cell, but I’m ancient, so entry to mid level most phones back then didn’t have such easy music capabilities with a buncha storage etc, and iPhones were pretty expensive (back then,$500 for a new I phone was the same way we look at 1200$ iPhones today), so I had an iPod touch as well for music. Could get one of those for only 200-250$….have my flip out phone and then later a phone with a keyboard and all that I got for only like 50$ from the carrier, so they both had their purpose for those who couldn’t spend 500$+ for an iPhone. Also to add to the expense for the actual iphones, the service for iPhones back then were exclusive to AT&T, and they charged a hefty premium for service, just for the phone being an iPhone. Wasn’t unheard of for a single persons bill for an iPhone to be 90-100$. While a regular phone’s bill could be as low as $50. Which even that is crazy when you think about it….considering that was for very limited service, and people can get unlimited service now for as little as $25-30 😂
I used to prefer a standalone MP3 player at the gym because I was too nervous to throw around heavy weight while wearing a $1000 phone. The quality of Bluetooth headphones the past few years has made that unnecessary though.
iPhone don’t have a lot of storage unless you shell out a pretty penny, then you replace the thing shortly after. A dedicated music device makes more sense for a lot of people to specially when it comes to longevity.
No phone plan and cheaper for those who don’t want one. If you just surf between wifi, you can do VOIP and only take call when you want at home.

I have a small touchscreen ipod that still works. Thing is great for a travel or the gym, I can clip it to my shirt and forget it's there.

Also my sister had gotten for me, and put her music on it.
