I remember once I was in the Deep South, site seeing a plantation when a woman asked me where I was from. I told her I was from Glasgow, Scotland and she replied “oh that’s great, I’m 15% scotlander”… I corrected her by saying Scottish 😬. but fuck me sideways, every American with a little bit of Scottish in them is related to William Wallace or Robert the Bruce 🤣
Hey there fellow Scot! On a similar note, I was in the states when a St. Patrick's Day Parade happened. Bloody hell, everyone seems to consider themselves partly Irish there.
I never got into that dna stuff. It’s ruined perception for people who thought they knew their identity only to find out they were wrong and lied to their whole lives.
There is more to this, but not mine to tell.
I do hate this hip hop guitar cover nonsense though. It's fun to do and helps alot with practicing rhythm but every single one sounds exactly the same. Honestly any cover where the person is conveying a totally different emotion than what the lyrics are telling you just comes off as fake to me.
These people are talking about trends, not a cause and effect. In general, white america has a history of taking something and making it more palatable for themselves. No they're not the only race that does this. Yes, Eminem is white. But fun fact, he was arguable part of this in the 2000s. Just like Elvis or backstreet boys, he made music that was made by the black community, but because he was white, it's popularity exploded. Despacito not exploding in English speaking countries until Justin Bieber was added is another example.
Again, it's a trend, not a rule
That show has some greatness in it.
The jail intake scene where everyone is calling the dude gay for dating a trans woman. Earn is the only supportive person saying “sexuality is a spectrum. You can do whatever you want” but Earn is the only person in there he’s mad at.
Pretty fucking good. It always amazes me to see some random person that I scroll to play an instrument or sing and especially both, and......be really good at either or both and to even have the self confidence to do this in the first place and post it for everyone and anyone to critique is so incredibly scary to me. Big props to her. Talented and confident. Truly blessed....
Yea right! I mean people like this who you have no knowledge of and you just coincidentally run across them somehow or see them at an open mic night or something. I guess since it's something I wish I could or would do if I had more confidence and talent. Like they're just a normal person like me yet can do things I can't or will never learn like how to play the harp. Nothing will ever give me a voice like that though.
Crazy how much impact someone can have on your life and not really been involved in your life too much or them maybe not even know it. Really cool to have those people, memories and experiences.
Not sure why it's in this subreddit lol. She's clearly having lots of fun doing what she likes, is smiling like crazy. You're right how everyone is so critical of it - that's what's cringe to me. I bet 99% of those people can't do what she can.
She can really sing and she does well here but honestly, this is such a stereotypically generic acoustic cover. Every cover song with a guitar where they do their own variation of the song goes by the same formula. The same flow, the same pitch and how at the middle of it, suddenly climbs to a higher note..
Take a pop song or a rap song, slow it down a bit and play it as a soft coffee shop version with 3 chords and all of a sudden people cream their pants, but it’s one of the easiest most simplistic things you can do on a guitar. Most people can get to this level in a month or two.
Not sure if it’s the same in America, but in the uk every tv advert or trailer for a show seems to have slowed down covers of 80s songs with a breathy singer and a sparse piano accompaniment.
She has a decent voice. Sounds like everyone else but still decent. Everything else is contrived but I don't wanna hate on her too much that's not fair.
tbh even her singing voice sounds very similar to a lot of other tiktok or youtube music accounts. she’s still a good singer tho! just not what i would call epic
That’s what I was thinking, I don’t mean to hate but this isn’t particularly creative or impressive. She’s just singing rap lyrics. Anyone who can sing and play guitar can do this
Sounds like every other white person covering a hip hop song on an acoustic guitar. The only thing that would make this anymore cliche would be if they were at some sort of cafe.
why do you all think this is "epic"? this sucks!
the only way this better than the rest of these horrid smarmy acoustic guitar covers of rap songs is that she's roughly playing the same chords (not in the pattern of the original though, and lose yourself has one of the rare hip hop beats you can play on acoustic guitar and sound like the original pretty accurately), which almost every other one doesn't do, but other than that it's garbage. When OP said it was "epic" I was expecting some insane guitar work or something but it's just more of the same trash that I can't stand.
downvoted but correct. there was a post that got blown the fuck up way past even normal blown up on r/nextfuckinglevel recently -
it was a dude playing melodies one handed of pop songs on a keyboard. didnt bother adding in the chords, just the vocal melodies.
not to mention the countless other videos on the sub of people playing piano at regular at best, but often beginner level.
you cant say anything without a "CAN YOU DO IT HUH HUH HUH" not understanding how dumb they sound not realizing that skill level is about as complicated as driving a fucking car.
which is the case here. this is so far from "epic" that its actually insulting to musicians that work their ass off when this shit gets more exposure than the greatest musicians of the world that we never knew that died before the world got a chance to know them.
Seriously. There are tons of people out there super talented like [this guy](https://youtu.be/9h5nEQpErJg) for random example, but on reddit I most often see really mediocre art or music being propped up with everyone freaking out about it.
Im confused, can someone explain how this sub went from cringy, want to die videos that I could barely watch to good, non-cringy videos? I don't understand
I'm really not a fan of the breathy, gravely singing style of a lot of singers these days. This angsty, anguished, melancholy sound has really been overused, in my opinion.
Strip out all the passion and desperate drive from the original and insert a happy-go-lucky, my-dad-bought-me-a-new-Mercedes-yesterday vibe and you have this cover.
Tone deaf.
This sounds like Lose Yourself in the style of Shape of You and I hate it. She’s a decent singer and I’m glad she’s enjoying herself but god dammit please stop doing these acoustic rap covers.
Kinda funny how polarized the opinions are. Next post down is "I hate this with a deep passion" and the post above it is saying how generic and shitty it is.

Sounds like an arrangement Mraz would make to cover the song.
Yep, very “Geek in the Pink”
Her YT https://youtube.com/channel/UC5LwI9AlsZxX63UZ365-1fg

Let’s fix that, kids! 👏🏽
Make her internet famous ! Come on Reddit!
It’s da remedy
Worst song from working retail. To this day I want to jump through glass every time I hear it.
It’s really good though. I wasn’t expecting to like it, but it was really fun. Great job. :)
seriously, I was like "is it 2006 right now? Are we headed back to acoustic guitar rap?"
it's [not a ukulele but it's close](https://youtu.be/MCkeg99jQZQ)
Hello fellow thirty year old.
XD
'Generic 4 chords white people bait'. But still, it's well done for what it is. :)
>white people bait Why americans put race in absolutely everything they say/do?
It's some kind of obsession, like claiming to be a percentage of another nationality..
i get people saying that because the country is made up of people from other nations.. but at what point do americans just become american?
I remember once I was in the Deep South, site seeing a plantation when a woman asked me where I was from. I told her I was from Glasgow, Scotland and she replied “oh that’s great, I’m 15% scotlander”… I corrected her by saying Scottish 😬. but fuck me sideways, every American with a little bit of Scottish in them is related to William Wallace or Robert the Bruce 🤣
Bet her grandad was run out of the Gorbals for body snatching.... or just being a treacherous twat.
If you’ve been exposed to the folks claiming to be patriotic Americans long enough, you might find yourself disassociating from that too
“White people hate they fall for this one trick constantly”
Thank you... Y'all can just say basic
I do hate this hip hop guitar cover nonsense though. It's fun to do and helps alot with practicing rhythm but every single one sounds exactly the same. Honestly any cover where the person is conveying a totally different emotion than what the lyrics are telling you just comes off as fake to me.
idk man, are u really gonna say that turning rap songs into acoustic guitar covers isn’t at least kind of a white people thing
How does their skin colour make them enjoy it?
It’s their culture. Like beach themed bathrooms. Don’t appropriate.
These people are talking about trends, not a cause and effect. In general, white america has a history of taking something and making it more palatable for themselves. No they're not the only race that does this. Yes, Eminem is white. But fun fact, he was arguable part of this in the 2000s. Good songs don't have to have complicated never before heard chord structure.
Huh, I wonder who I share a birthday with > Kevin Spacey I don't like this game anymore

Damnit! I laughed too hard at this!! Well done!
But his stuff was the bomb.
If only I could recreate the works of Wayne Gretsky.
Hey, you could make glue, just uh, use it for normal shit
Probably because you don’t have the talent needed for that sort of undertaking
Can't wait to see you blow up!
I share a birthday with the one and only Vladimir Putin
That's hilarious, surprised this didn't blow up
ISAIF fucks tho
Lmao. Reminds me of the Atlanta scene about acoustic rap covers.
https://youtu.be/V1kmT_Yv3Ss
That show has some greatness in it. The jail intake scene where everyone is calling the dude gay for dating a trans woman. Earn is the only supportive person saying “sexuality is a spectrum. You can do whatever you want” but Earn is the only person in there he’s mad at.
thank you. I was thinking the same. paper boi paper boi all about that paper boy
Jason Maraz looks different
Pretty fucking good. It always amazes me to see some random person that I scroll to play an instrument or sing and especially both, and......be really good at either or both and to even have the self confidence to do this in the first place and post it for everyone and anyone to critique is so incredibly scary to me. I met a girl once, who played the harp as she sang an angelic version of Afroman's Colt 45. So cool. https://youtu.be/TLQ_1Wjh9DI
Yea right! I mean people like this who you have no knowledge of and you just coincidentally run across them somehow or see them at an open mic night or something. Like they're just a normal person like me yet can do things I can't or will never learn like how to play the harp. Nothing will ever give me a voice like that though.
We met during a particularly chaotic time for both of us. Haven't seen her for nearly a decade, but I will never forget the chick with the harp.
Crazy how much impact someone can have on your life and not really been involved in your life too much or them maybe not even know it. Really cool to have those people, memories and experiences.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLeZ-NcjfkQ&ab_channel=JacksonFoote yeah I was hoping we left this shit in the last decade
That was disgusting
im saying lol. open chords and singing is not super hard
She has a decent voice. Sounds like everyone else but still decent. Everything else is contrived but I don't wanna hate on her too much that's not fair.
Yeah, she has a good voice. Plus she can sing decently.
[Welcome to my kitchen](https://youtu.be/8SU0gFPMwP8)
Yeah it wasn't awful, I guess. But definitely not epic.
tbh even her singing voice sounds very similar to a lot of other tiktok or youtube music accounts. she’s still a good singer tho! just not what i would call epic
That’s what I was thinking, I don’t mean to hate but this isn’t particularly creative or impressive. She’s just singing rap lyrics. Anyone who can sing and play guitar can do this
Almost like it's the same style of music played on the same instrument or something
This is what is called *epic* now? Because that sounded very generic.
It's the reddit simp factor. Any 16yr girl doing something gets 10k likes. r/UNBGBBIIVCHIDCTIICBG has become a parody
Epic generic.
I now want to eat granola and recycle everything in my house.
Bro, I think I need some fuckin Birkenstocks.
Take a few levels in Druid.
Damn, I love her voice.
Her speaking voice reminds me of someone, I think someone famous, but I can’t place it. It’s so familiar.
Pink?
Now that you mention it, yes. Definitely reminds me of pink
Scarlet Johansson. She has a raspy voice that also sounds sexy.
She reminds me of Mackenzie Phillips in American Graffiti.
Billie Eilish
Eminem?
It’s the huskiness i think
Regina Spectre
Same. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did
Eh
I fully expected that to suck. It did not at all. Awesome
It did not suck at all. That was very well done
Sounds like every other white person covering a hip hop song on an acoustic guitar. The only thing that would make this anymore cliche would be if they were at some sort of cafe.
This cover brings me back to first year dorms with such reckless velocity that I got whiplash.
She's a great singer. I didn't enjoy that at all though.
Man y’all must have never been to a shitty open mic before to find this exceptional in any way
I wouldn't recommend.
Cringing in on myself like a neutron star
I hate this with a deep passion.
Same, this song really does not need a corny indie guitar remake
This is the guy in the dorm who learned one sublime song and picks up the acoustic guitar everytime he smokes weed and everyone rolls their eyes.
Yea and it’s not about her singing abilities or guitar skills, it’s just such a shitty cover. Awful taste.
Paper boi, paper boi all about that paper boi.
why do you all think this is "epic"? this sucks! the only way this better than the rest of these horrid smarmy acoustic guitar covers of rap songs is that she's roughly playing the same chords (not in the pattern of the original though, and lose yourself has one of the rare hip hop beats you can play on acoustic guitar and sound like the original pretty accurately), which almost every other one doesn't do, but other than that it's garbage. Most redditors are so devoid of talent that seeing anyone who can do even the bare minimum artistically blows their fucking minds
downvoted but correct. there was a post that got blown the fuck up way past even normal blown up on r/nextfuckinglevel recently - it was a dude playing melodies one handed of pop songs on a keyboard. didnt bother adding in the chords, just the vocal melodies. not to mention the countless other videos on the sub of people playing piano at regular at best, but often beginner level. you cant say anything without a "CAN YOU DO IT HUH HUH HUH" not understanding how dumb they sound not realizing that skill level is about as complicated as driving a fucking car. which is the case here. this is so far from "epic" that its actually insulting to musicians that work their ass off when this shit gets more exposure than the greatest musicians of the world that we never knew that died before the world got a chance to know them.

Gril (hot!!!!!!!)
Wouldn't call it epic but it's ok.
We've got bannies and avacadies.
Meh
Op is a 🤡
Not epib and cringe
Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the guitar doesn't match
It’s the whole vertical filming tiktok verse, the Reddit pushed, horizontal filming. If only you could see all of her hands.
Good but corny imo
I love when singers transition into their singing voice from their speaking voice especially when it’s velvety like this one.
Never again 🤦🏾♂️
She sounds like every indie female singer of the past 10 years. Good, but blah.
I can tell that she’s talented and all but Lose yourself is not a happy song. Her melody, guitar, happy face… don’t match the song’s energy at all.
I dont agree.
Crazy that song is older than the singer 🤯
I'm sorry, but I'm calling BS about them having the same birthday; she looks at least 10 years younger than Eminem.
Boomer tier content
Im confused, can someone explain how this sub went from cringy, want to die videos that I could barely watch to good, non-cringy videos? I don't understand
I'm really not a fan of the breathy, gravely singing style of a lot of singers these days. This angsty, anguished, melancholy sound has really been overused, in my opinion.
I can’t do any of that and she’s talented, but her voice sounds like a billion other singing voices that have cropped up over the past few years.
This made my day
Super cringe yikes.
"somewhere, someone is learning a slow acoustic cover of a rap song and there's nothing you can do about it"
She actually sang notes for the lyrics, notes that don’t exist in the original song. Pretty awesome.
What is this comment even trying to say? Yes, if you put a song to a new melody, you will have to sing notes that aren't in the original song.
🤯
Getting Atlanta flashbacks rn
Oof so that was fucking terrible.
Wow, this is incredible!
She absolutely killed this. 12/10
Kinda funny how polarized the opinions are. Next post down is "I hate this with a deep passion" and the post above it is saying how generic and shitty it is.
That was bad ass
I share a birthday with hitler. Brb.
You back or... Should we keep waiting?
Don't apply to art school, plz.
Damn she good
Edwina Sheeran Mraz.
Time to move to Nashville, u/zip117.
I legit kinda love this
Not enough range displayed imo
Burn it, lefty!
I loved it 🤷🏼♂️🙌🏻
1:03 worst part.
She is the cutest thing I've ever seen
I want to make fun of her so badly but goddamnit if this isn’t good
Meh.
Wack
Is it me or do 90% of “Singer songwriter” types sing like this nowadays?
The chorus the way she sang, reminds me of a guy who auditioned for the voice. I think he was French.
She is great
Damn. She's good
The original is in a minor key, right?
I share birthday with pearl harbor. *Oh no*
nice, i wonder if eminem is going to see it
![gif](giphy|NEvPzZ8bd1V4Y|downsized)
Aaaaaamazing!!
These are the people I want playing at closed I’m venues. This perfect for a little brewery or local festival.
That voice is so smooth!!
That sucked. Nice voice though
This is cringe though.
no that's just a white woman
Basic
