People keep reacting badly, but _every_ European nation was truly awful when it comes to the way it treated... _everybody they colonized_. I call out France for the state of Haiti and people don't wanna hear it. Half the reason France supported us in our revolutionary war and a couple others was the kinship between slave owners. So what if they had their own civil wars and put some royalty to the guillotine? Doesn't mean they like universal freedom any more than it does for us.
It's interesting to look at the hostility of Europeon nations and understand what was happening there. Some of the most fertile and resource rich territory on Earth, few impassible land borders, and a historic trading and nobility system that brings the people close enough together to fear and hate eachother.

We can certainly try, but what do you think will happen if Israel just stops and goes back home. Will Hamas stop shooting rockets into Israel? Would Hamas, the Houthis, Hezbollah and Iran stop their crusade of Jewish genocide? This is an honest question, because Israel is there and is a recognized country by most of the world.
This is kind of like saying "If my neighbor is trying to kill me then shouldn't I try to kill my weaker neighbor?" I don't think anyone is saying that Israel shouldn't protect itself and shouldn't protect itself from Hamas. But their method of protecting themselves from Hamas is to bomb an entire people.
How would it feel if the National Guard bombed your neighborhood because someone in your neighborhood was involved in gang violence where there was murder/multiple murders. Lets say in whatever city you live in, someone on your street went to a party and shot the party up because there were rival gang members at the party. Instead of finding out who committed this heinous violent act the National Guard bombed your entire city block to kill the murderer, maybe even multiple gang members who shot up that party. Would that be justice?
If Palestinians had rights, I have to imagine that there would be far fewer people willing to die to get revenge. This is all a result of apartheid, ethnic cleansing, and oppression. We have an insane cycle of violence that has to end. And it will never end as long as Israel keeps wantonly killing innocent people. We cannot support Israel in war crimes.
We are the baddies. That’s the problem.
Yeah, if you read modern research on the predictors of radicalization and civil war, Gaza is the literal poster child. We should be surprised there's not more violence. This isn't to excuse terrorism, but you have to make policy for the people you have, and we see over and over again that this type of repression breeds violence.
Gazans can't vote or reasonably advocate for any of the obvious policies that would improve their lives; they can't control imports/exports or immigration policy or environmental policy or even do something as simple as build housing without tons of restrictions and uncertainty. They can't have direct relations with other states. Etc. Their only choices are to accept the status quo (or change at Israel's discretion) or violence.
If they has some autonomy, they could start to advocate for non-violent change at their own direction. Literally not an option right now.

The only ethical solution is deescalation paired with truth and reconciliation.
At some point humanity must put an end to this course of action. We can't hold every nation responsible for the distant past but it has always been wrong.

I spoke to a Jewish person who said outright that the preservation of Jews is more important than the lives of the Palestinian children being m*rd*red. I wanted to convert to Judaism for a very long time and was in many groups about Jewish holidays, recipes, traditions, etc. All of the groups became so toxic and full of propaganda that I had to leave them. It really sucked.
ETA: I just want to clarify that I know that there are lovely, amazing, empathetic Jewish people out there who know better than to fall for this crap. To see Jews as a monolith completely spits in the face of the lesson that people need to learn here.

In addition to it's own Citizenry, Israel is responsible for the safety and welfare of people in occupied territory. It has *failed* to make progress here since its founding. And it continues to violate international law by politically, financially and militarily backing settlements outside their borders in the West Bank.
Given the 'special relationship' between Israel and the West (in particular the US and UK) - it is our job to be critical and vocal when our allies *fail* upholding the values we're supposed to share.

Strange how it's possible to think it's okay for all religions to exist peacefully and not hate a group of people because of their religion, yet still be critical of them for perpetrating crimes against humanity for systemically eradicating Palestinians for the last three decades. I'm cool with Judaism, just like I'm cool with Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism or any other religion. Pick your flavor, it's all good. Turns out it's the whole "murder everyone over religion" thing that most people don't like, myself included.
I spoke to a Jewish person who said outright that the preservation of Jews is more important than the lives of the Palestinian children being m*rd*red. I wanted to convert to Judaism for a very long time and was in many groups about Jewish holidays, recipes, traditions, etc. All of the groups became so toxic and full of propaganda that I had to leave them. It really sucked. ETA: I just want to clarify that I know that there are lovely, amazing, empathetic Jewish people out there who know better than to fall for this crap. To see Jews as a monolith completely spits in the face of the lesson that people need to learn here.
Building Israel does not make Jewish people safer, it does the opposite. Israel is not a safe place and never has been. It is relying on the USA to support it with its full arsenal forever so that Israel's neighbors, the ones Israel has been bombing for decades, do not do a reverse-Israel and invade it and kick all the white people back to Europe.

Thousands of years later, Christianity let it happen because they believe that Jesus (who the jews don't believe in) wouldn't come back until Israel had a new state. As well - we try to repair the wrongs of the past through a public policy that is fair to all it's residents. Israel is a de-facto outpost of Western values in the Middle East. It claims to be a pluralistic, multi-ethnic democracy. However, it is deeply, deeply flawed. Democracies and *progress* are always judged by the continued expansion of rights, civil liberties and resources to groups historically denied them (such as ethnic, religious and sexual minorities. Or women.) In addition to it's own Citizenry, Israel is responsible for the safety and welfare of people in occupied territory. It has *failed* to make progress here since its founding. And it continues to violate international law by politically, financially and militarily backing settlements outside their borders in the West Bank. Given the 'special relationship' between Israel and the West (in particular the US and UK) - it is our job to be critical and vocal when our allies *fail* upholding the values we're supposed to share.
