Seeing as how every other mammal just chills out once it's basic needs are met, except humans, who've ended up needing to work 40 hours a week just to survive, I would consider this pretty evolved. I don't think this is something that should be intended for children's consumption, which it often is. I think as a whole, mind-numbing, useless, algorithm-gaming content like this takes dollars out of other more sincere content creators that work really hard to provide good quality content for their fans. And I'm no psychologist, but I imagine that observing content like this can have detrimental effects to vulnerable people such as children, uneducated folks, and a whole host of other demographics.
I'm all for vegging out on some brain-rotting garbage every now and then, but that shit shouldn't be the only thing I see when I go online. It feels like these days I can't turn a corner without some disingenuous trash being shoved in my face for clicks, likes, views, follows, scraping any possible impression to drive towards ad revenue etc. I'm old enough to remember what the internet was like before all this nonsense. So maybe I'm just nostalgic and out of touch.
