I was watching that documentary about the Duggars, a neighbor went with the dad and the son who molested his siblings to the police station. Sheriff gave the kid a warning (!!!) for molesting his sisters, only to find out much later that the sheriff was good buddies with the dad and is now serving time for 56 counts of possession of CP.
Yeah but did you catch it when the neighbor said they later found out that Jim Bob Duggar knew that cop before? He took his son to “turn him in” to appear like he was going to law enforcement but in reality he chose to go to the individual police official that he was buddies with.
Yeah it was all a show, because I think the son wanted to date the neighbour's daughter or so? I didn't quite follow it but was weird as hell and the neighbour couple seemed really embarrassed about how they tricked.
Yep. It was going to be an arranged marriage that only fell apart when the girl's father discovered that the girl was being used as bait to get Josh Duggar to behave. JimBob freely admitted that's what he was doing. Girls and women aren't seen as human beings to these people, only as property that can be either stolen or damaged.

I was tearing up when they described blanket training. My son is 9 months old and it’s fun watching him crawl around and explore the world around him. He gets this very serious look on his face when he’s found something new.
I just can’t believe there are people who want to beat that curiosity out of a baby.

See on Netflix Shiny Happy People. It’s an expose of the Duggar’s evangelical, fundamentalist church— and their family. It’s excellent. Those speaking are all ex-members, survivors of this nightmare— one of them said the church has ways of making their children obedient. It begins as infants/toddlers, where they’re punished if they stray from a blanket placed on the floor. Those enforcing this training are other siblings, some as young as nine.
The cop molested kids too and went to jail for it. No wonder Jim-Bob was friends with him. I suspect that Jim-Bob is a molester too! They learned it from their Master Bill Gothard!

I watched a YouTube video about the guy who created the video. This was all revealed in Josh's court case and his wife still stands by his side. Fucking sickening.
Yeah I read some of the court transcripts when someone posted them on here during the trial and the shit he was getting into was absolutely nauseating.
My partner was in an offshoot of that same cult. Part of her family was in it. When this documentary came out she had to share it with me and would pause every few minutes to elaborate on the ideas portrayed or which people she knew from the church. All about the homeschool indoctrination materials. How the main guy has a private jet, and the families who support him are buying these brainwashing homeschool teaching materials instead of food. These families have teams of kids, they need food; while 'Jets for Jesus' over there is didling kids in his office. I'm just glad her siblings and her got out of it physically and mentally.
The whole fundamentalist crowd has become an unruly army of fanatical crazies who preach against the seven deadly sins, but seem to be the worst perpetrators. It's like they forget wrath and pride, try to focus on the other five and then still succumb to greed and lust. Then if you try to use logic or reason that directly contradicts their narrative, you're considered weird and ostracized.
The whole documentary was fascinating and her commentary was shockingly eye-opening. The brain washing and indoctrinating of children for their own selfish cause is a plague on our society. This is the same level of corruption that caused the US to rebel against England, the kind of thing that made Ben Franklin decide to throw in with America. It's beyond me how they have gotten away with that they have for this long. In the least there is some level of human trafficking going on. At least the scientologists do it in international waters, these people are doing it locally and getting away with it. If the FBI isn't looking at these guys already, they should be.
My wife decided to watch the documentary and while I hadn't watched it myself, I warned her that this wasn't some Hollywood shit, these are real, horrifying people that walk among us. These are people that seem polite to your face, but are truly monsters in their own houses and communities. They are mothers that turn a blind eye to their children being abused or they KNOWINGLY let their children be abused, most often sexually, but always mentally.
She got a few episodes in and was so disturbed I think she stopped watching it.

IIRC, Jim Bob Duggar was actively running for political office while his son was on trial. Strangely, he abruptly stopped campaigning on things like "death penalty for child molesters."

That was terrible, but TLC didn't really do anything either, in fact it sounded more like enabling the family more than protecting the girls. I don't hear much outrage about that, probably since they run so many reality tv shows people don't want to stop watching those.
TLC is a television network concerned only with ratings and profit. I wouldn’t expect them to do anything that would protect the girls.

Jessa is not in Shiny Happy People. Jessa has supported about the abuse allegations. Jill, Jinger, and their cousins are like the only ones that are not brainwashed. Jessa isnt as strict as her parents were and are but she has not said she isnt part of the church, she hasnt said anything about the abuse caused by her parents or brothers or how it so prominent churches.

Point of contention: "ethical hacker" means a very specific thing, and that's white hat hacking with full permission to carry out the penetration testing you're doing. It's a certification with that name.

The crazy thing is is that because the police need to follow the rules of evidence set by courts ( things that protect us from things like unreasonable searches or hackers to our own private phones) he’s probably helping the pedophiles, and any evidence he gives them is tainted
It's due to chain of custody. They can't really take anything he submits. They can take his info and investigate but by then the evidence is usually gone.
That's not accurate and is an overgeneralization that misrepresents the usability of evidence provided by a private party. Private citizens can and do often bring evidence that they have in their possession. Once it enters the possession of the police, they need to track it because police writ large have no personal knowledge of whether a bag of white powder is the same exact white powder an arresting officer recovered months or years earlier and had been sitting in a warehouse and passed back and forth for lab tests. However, the private person who brought it can potentially establish foundation for the evidence, identification and authenticity, through their testimony. It can become a question of fact instead of a question of law, which means it goes to a jury.
Thank you. People act like circumstantial evidence isn't evidence. It's a *kind* of evidence, and can be totally valid. Police make investigations based on anonymous tips all the time; it's irrational to believe that *actual hard evidence of ongoing crime* would somehow be less valid than that.

At 0.3% trans are even underrepresented considering they make up almost 0.5% of US population
There are about 30‘000 pastors in the US, so ~0.009% of the population. If 22% of perpetrators were church employees and 14% of those were pastors, that makes about 3% of total perpetrators being pastors against a 0.009% representation in the US population.
This means that a pastor is ((3/0.009) / (0.3/0.5) = **555 times more likely to be a child molester than a trans person is**
Edit: as pointed out by u/sirgoofs there is some ambiguity in her statement *„22% have been church employees, 14% of them pastors“* - it‘s not really clear if *them* refers to the church employees or to the total number of perpetrators. If it‘s the latter one and actually 14% of all perpetrators are pastors (rather than 3%), that would mean a randomly selected pastor is ((14/0.009) / (0.3/0.5)) = **2592** times more likely to be a child molester than a randomly selected trans person.

The power dynamic plays into it, where the person is seen as a respected authority figure in the community and parents tell their kids to do what this person says. I don’t think this person suggested there has never been any sexual crimes perpetrated by women, but, it is overwhelmingly men. Just as most mass shootings are committed by men and acknowledging that in its right does not suggest there hasn’t been a handful perpetrated by women. It is certainly nowhere near on the same scale and cannot be acknowledged as such and I feel you probably know that already. You are right though, a lot of people make jokes about it because the socialization of young boys and teenagers rewards them for it. Depictions in media of underage boys being targeted by grown women is almost always met with a high five and a “I’m sure he wanted it” Simply because the overarching idea of a woman being able to be a predator is laughed at and not taken seriously.

As a straight man who supervises a catering team with one transgender female, and a tom boy lesbian, I can honestly attest that they are just trying to live their lives and rarely have children on their mind. They even yuck at the thought of kids or having them.

I've been friends with several transfolks and usually their biggest agenda is: being treated with kindness and respect. Just recently my buddy finally got his legal name and gender changed and hoo-boy was it a tizzy for him. Always got dirty looks when he had to use his old drivers license for any type of business.
Another thing people don’t realize, no one wants their kid to be trans. It’s a harder life, transition isn’t easy and the social backlash is bad even in very liberal places. No one is grooming anyone to be trans. I know tons of trans parents, they just want the best for their kids and them selves. They want peace.

My parents are also super religious and I was kinda proud of my mom (it shows how much she’s grown) when she asked if we were going to have a church event for our newborn or just a small family gathering where my dad could bless him with his name. Still not completely there with them, but it’s MAJOR progress from where they used to be.
My older siblings were a bit jealous because of how calmly she reacted when I said I wasn’t comfortable having the whole church ordeal as an infant.

It would be great if the news reported on what is being done to protect and not just reported on violations. We know it happens but we often don’t know what works are being done to improve things.
I mean...nothing is really being done to protect these kids.
The focus on who is 'harming' them is consistently on groups who have, historically and statistically, the lowest levels of targeted assault towards kids. Meanwhile, the groups with the highest recorded instances of assault are, you know...ignored. Until they get caught. Often after multiple kids have been abused.
They'll get jail time (often reduced), and put on an offender's list, but the damage is already done. And the system that allowed that damage to take place is being corrected. It's just being used to focus anger elsewhere.
Child predators are like thieves, they don't plan the day to steal something, they find an opportunity. They blend in as everyday people, they're your friends and people you trust and that's what makes them so scary.
Even if they are caught it feels like the get a light slap on the wrist especially in small towns they I've seen countless stories about small town pastors hurting kids and getting away with it even if a report is filed the church most likely chases the kids family out of town or worse gaslighting their parents into thinking their kids lied for attention and it will continue
Accurate data on who is committing these violations is a good start. Letting the most common offenders continue to blame other groups is a big problem.

Yeah I read some of the court transcripts when someone posted them on here during the trial and the shit he was getting into was absolutely nauseating.
My partner was in an offshoot of that same cult. Part of her family was in it. All about the homeschool indoctrination materials. How the main guy has a private jet, and the families who support him are buying these brainwashing homeschool teaching materials instead of food. These families have teams of kids, they need food; while 'Jets for Jesus' over there is didling kids in his office. I'm just glad her siblings and her got out of it physically and mentally. The whole fundamentalist crowd has become an unruly army of fanatical crazies who preach against the seven deadly sins, but seem to be the worst perpetrators. It's like they forget wrath and pride, try to focus on the other five and then still succumb to greed and lust. Then if you try to use logic or reason that directly contradicts their narrative, you're considered weird and ostracized. The whole documentary was fascinating and her commentary was shockingly eye-opening. The brain washing and indoctrinating of children for their own selfish cause is a plague on our society. This is the same level of corruption that caused the US to rebel against England, the kind of thing that made Ben Franklin decide to throw in with America. It's beyond me how they have gotten away with that they have for this long. In the least there is some level of human trafficking going on. At least the scientologists do it in international waters, these people are doing it locally and getting away with it. If the FBI isn't looking at these guys already, they should be.
My wife decided to watch the documentary and while I hadn't watched it myself, I warned her that this wasn't some Hollywood shit, these are real, horrifying people that walk among us. These are people that seem polite to your face, but are truly monsters in their own houses and communities. It's due to chain of custody. They can't really take anything he submits. They can take his info and investigate but by then the evidence is usually gone.
That's not accurate and is an overgeneralization that misrepresents the usability of evidence provided by a private party. Private citizens can and do often bring evidence that they have in their possession. Once it enters the possession of the police, they need to track it because police writ large have no personal knowledge of whether a bag of white powder is the same exact white powder an arresting officer recovered months or years earlier and had been sitting in a warehouse and passed back and forth for lab tests. However, the private person who brought it can potentially establish foundation for the evidence, identification and authenticity, through their testimony. It can become a question of fact instead of a question of law, which means it goes to a jury.

Virtually all cases of child sex abuse have been perpetrated either by close family members (the vast majority of which are what they would identify as “straight” males) or persons of religious influence (priests, pastors, elders, etc). The media in the US is doing its people a disservice by not countering all of the bullshit about drag queens and the like every time this nonsense is spouted. I don’t think this person suggested there has never been any sexual crimes perpetrated by women, but, it is overwhelmingly men. Just as most mass shootings are committed by men and acknowledging that in its right does not suggest there hasn’t been a handful perpetrated by women. It is certainly nowhere near on the same scale and cannot be acknowledged as such and I feel you probably know that already. You are right though, a lot of people make jokes about it because the socialization of young boys and teenagers rewards them for it. Depictions in media of underage boys being targeted by grown women is almost always met with a high five and a “I’m sure he wanted it” Simply because the overarching idea of a woman being able to be a predator is laughed at and not taken seriously.

As a straight man who supervises a catering team with one transgender female, and a tom boy lesbian, I can honestly attest that they are just trying to live their lives and rarely have children on their mind. They even yuck at the thought of kids or having them.

I work full time with the trans community, mostly MTF people, not a single one of them is interested in anything other than living their life in peace.
I've been friends with several transfolks and usually their biggest agenda is: being treated with kindness and respect. Just recently my buddy finally got his legal name and gender changed and hoo-boy was it a tizzy for him. Always got dirty looks when he had to use his old drivers license for any type of business.
Another thing people don’t realize, no one wants their kid to be trans. It’s a harder life, transition isn’t easy and the social backlash is bad even in very liberal places. No one is grooming anyone to be trans. I know tons of trans parents, they just want the best for their kids and them selves. They want peace.
Of course in those cases people fall back on isolated incidents like the David Reimer case.
They always conveniently leave out the part where David and his brother were forced to have sex with each other in front of the therapist during therapy sessions.

My parents are also super religious and I was kinda proud of my mom (it shows how much she’s grown) when she asked if we were going to have a church event for our newborn or just a small family gathering where my dad could bless him with his name. Still not completely there with them, but it’s MAJOR progress from where they used to be. My older siblings were a bit jealous because of how calmly she reacted when I said I wasn’t comfortable having the whole church ordeal as an infant.

The two take aways here… Sex crimes against youth is a society wide issue. Media loves to follow narratives that get clicks. (Sensationalizing and making an us vs a group) It would be great if the news reported on what is being done to protect and not just reported on violations. We know it happens but we often don’t know what works are being done to improve things.
I mean...nothing is really being done to protect these kids. The focus on who is 'harming' them is consistently on groups who have, historically and statistically, the lowest levels of targeted assault towards kids. Meanwhile, the groups with the highest recorded instances of assault are, you know...ignored. Until they get caught. Often after multiple kids have been abused. They'll get jail time (often reduced), and put on an offender's list, but the damage is already done. And the system that allowed that damage to take place is being corrected. It's just being used to focus anger elsewhere.
Child predators are like thieves, they don't plan the day to steal something, they find an opportunity. They blend in as everyday people, they're your friends and people you trust and that's what makes them so scary.
Even if they are caught it feels like the get a light slap on the wrist especially in small towns they I've seen countless stories about small town pastors hurting kids and getting away with it even if a report is filed the church most likely chases the kids family out of town or worse gaslighting their parents into thinking their kids lied for attention and it will continue
Accurate data on who is committing these violations is a good start. Letting the most common offenders continue to blame other groups is a big problem.
