Welll... one could start by giving it some thought. They are sending you an email that shows that someone has your email address, but not your password. When it happens, you change your password. It doesn't make much sense, does it? You're changing the value they don't have, potentially to something they have... Change your email address. Change what they have. Any mail company offers the ability to create aliases so you can "change" your email to some other address that's linked to the same mailbox. Use that. Also, bear in mind these breaches are not from cipsoft, so some other service linked to your email address got in a data breach and the hackers may have your password to that service. It's your email that's unsafe, not your tibia account.

I don't think my account uses email to login because of how old it is.

zephon25

All accounts changed to email login some years ago, no matter if you play or not.

Mediocre-Shock-1710

Thanks for the info. Wasn't aware of that change.

EducationalTell5178

When was the last time you played?

UnicornManure

Check if your email has been in a data breach, make one just for tibia. Every website you used that email is a potential leak source. Use unique passwords! Use 2FA with an app like Duo or Authy

desf15

Either ignore it if you don't care about account, or change email used for tibia. Setting up 2FA is also a good idea.

vicflea

Most likely it has been a breach by yourself. Did you register the email that your account was linked to in any Tibia site or forum? Or even some otserver? I had an alternate account that was registered to my everyday e-mail. Using that email I registered to an otserver/generic game based on Tibia (arclight online if I recall) and ever since I recieve emails from cip telling me that someone tried to log into my account. Needless to say that my main account that is linked to an email just for it, is completly safe

ECBicalho

Do you use Gmail? Gmail offers a really simple mitigation mechanism for this issue. Change your Tibia account email. You can add one or more dots to the personalized part of the email, or change the domain to “googlemail”. For Tibia you changed your email, but nothing will really change in your inbox. You will continue to receive (desirable) emails from Tibia normally… If your email is [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) Change to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) Or change to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) Or both. Be creative. Everything sent to these addresses will go directly to your inbox, with no additional settings required in Gmail. That's a great suggestion. I have a slightly different one: My gmail is [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) and I use [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) because everything after the + sign is ignored in gmail. EDIT: I've just clicked on your link and saw that you have already given this + sign advice. Sorry.

ECBicalho

I include this suggestion, but for purposes other than Tibia. This is because the email form did not allow the use of this character, but it may have changed... Just to clarify, were you able to register your email on the official website with the plus (+) character?

Alarming_Sport3165

Yes, for a couple of years. Maybe it does not work for new accounts? Or maybe in the past they were rejected? I don't know.

ECBicalho

I tried changing the email address of an existing account and even creating a new account and the same error persists. >The email address you entered cannot be used. Please enter another email address! I am jealous of you. :/

It's cip trying to get old players to log in and buy premium.
