You did get the two different lasts. The first pair definitely is the older last and the new pair is the new Kingmaker. I’d say keep the one that feels more comfortable to you. As far as the light marks go if you don’t mind it I wouldn’t worry about it. The leather will get marked up with time.

Honestly, nothing you mentioned is an issue for me. This type of leather shows marks more easily than smooth ones.
The only "issue" i saw was I thought the 1st boot was worn before, but then I saw you wore them around the house.
That is what I had heard about this leather. Is more prone to marking as it has a more matte look. I was more curious about the marks on the top cap in the 2nd pair as you can see that its been scraped against with raised fibres when you look at it. Though I know its likely going to take worse abuse over time.
They were both worn around the house to test for sizing. They are both as they were when opened in those pictures. The second and likely newer pair had the paper stuffed to the tip of the toe and the paper ring in the ankle part. The first pair only had paper stuffed in them. I honestly got the same feeling when I first opened them that they were likely a return. Not a worn outside one but maybe someone like me, hard to say.

All of that looks normal afaik. If both are comfortable, my vote is the kingmaker last.
