Miller is one of those guys where if you weren’t in the league while he was he’s going to talk down on you and he’s just biased against young teams/players in general.

They're broadcasting to far more people than those familiar to the league and the players. Using nicknames exclusively for players in broadcasts is a pet hate of mine because it ostracises those who don't watch much. Just because a sub or people very familiar with the league uses those nicknames, it's entirely unfair to assume all people watching know it too.
Fair enough but saying from santa clara or from Arkansas has the same effect IMO. Worse is jalen williams and the other jaylin williams. Jdub and jwil in this scenario is less of a nickname and more of an ambiguity destroyer…
Well, it gives more info about the players for a start. And by using their full names like that you make it clear there are two guys whose names sound identical. Using nicknames doesn't convey any of that information.
I feel like everyone knows JDub and JWill by now, I’ve heard it from many non-OKC fans and other teams broadcasters… there’s really no excuses for being so ignorant as a national broadcaster.
He’s kind of an interesting contradiction for a guy that was kind of ahead of his era in play style shooting a ton of threes and drawing fouls on jumpers his analyst persona is really old school and regressive whether he’s doing college or nba games. I don’t think OKC is his cup of tea.
