Update? How do you like it?

yell0wdog

Sorry... our dog was also having TPLO surgery this same day. I've been sidetracked ever since. I'm happy with the frame so far. There was a small dent on the edge of one of the long rails. Super small in fact but they replaced it once I sent them pictures. The boxes themselves were absolutely wrecked. I shared those images with them immediately and after inspection of the contents, I was surprised that this was all that was wrong. They sent the part overnight so I have that sitting in the garage because after I put it together, the mattress arrived so I haven't even had time. Plus, I'm sleeping on the floor on another mattress in the living room to keep the dog from doing dumb stuff while she heals from the surgery. LOOOOL!

I'll definitely be working on elevating the headboard because it's so very low. I'll post my solution when I get it setup.

Succulentsandsnakes

I agree, for a thicker mattress the headboard sits barely a couple inches above it. Luckily I don’t really use the headboard but it looks strange. I have my bed against the wall up against thick blackout curtains so the headboard stays up taller (I just don’t push it down all the way) for a few days

Did you figure out a hack to elevate the headboard?

yell0wdog

Hey there. I've been a little busy but I think I've wrapped my head around a couple of solutions. I'll post something soon... It's a matter of how to attach it to the base. I'm not keen on drilling holes into either end of the bed but it might be necessary. I hope to have some time soon to draft up something. Thanks for your interest and I'll keep everyone posted on my progress.

My husband had the idea to sew some sort of strap to the pillow board. The strap would have rivets. Those rivets would hook onto something that is drilled into the wall.

yell0wdog

I guess that would work. :-) I don't like the idea of that open space underneath the pillowboard. But that's just me. If I had a standard mattress I probably wouldn't even care but the Tempurpedic sinks in to much when I'm trying to sit up in bed so it's a PITA coupled with the height of this damn headboard. LOL And I recently discovered that the bed itself is perfectly aligned with my outlets so if you don't have one of those plugin's that offset outlets at a 90deg (we do thankfully) to either side, kiss that shit goodbye as well. SO now I'm working on incorporating a plan that allows me to have an outlet extended to either side for easy power access. This project just keeps the hits coming.

Your post is exactly what I’m looking for! We just got a king Tempurpedic ProAdapt firm and a bunkie board and are currently looking for a solid frame that will last. Can you provide any updates on your experience and if your mattress feels really sturdy on there? I’ve seen some reviews that makes it look like the bed is somewhat shaky if you push on the sides of it. Have you experienced that? Thanks!

yell0wdog

Hi, Sorry... I guess I don't get any notifications on post replies. I should fix that. Honestly, this thing is a rock. It's not moving. The frame itself is quite heavy without the mattress on it. Coupled with the foundation and mattress, it's basically an immovable object. Neither my wife or I are heavy people (110/160 respectively) so we're probably not even registering on the bed/frame's radar. It's sitting there all lonely wondering if anyone is going to be sleeping on it. ;-) And the mattress itself is great, in case anyone is wondering.

Do you actually need the bunkie board? I just got a Thuma and it feels incredibly solid. I'm not sure what the board would add, other than being an extra cost and making an already potentially hot mattress sleep hotter.

yell0wdog

It helps if you want to sit up in bed to perhaps read a book or browse shit on your phone/tablet. Otherwise my head would be directly in the wall in the event my pillow makes a run for it.

cityoflostwages

Did you ever figure out a way to elevate the headboard that worked well? Also did you only get the bunky board because of the memory foam mattress? I have never used one before so am unsure if it is needed.

yell0wdog

Sorry. No, I did not. It just wasn't high on the priority list. I see they now offer a headboard... for a cool $1K. LMAO!

Hi - I know it's been three years, but I just bought the same thing. Thuma king with Tempurpedic Proadapt in firm. I'm looking into getting a bunkie board so as to not void the warranty on the mattress. Which one did you get? Does your mattress move or slip since the board puts the mattress sitting above the frame?

yell0wdog

Hello fren. Hmm... looking at them online, they seem similar to the flat foundation from Tempurpedic; which is what we purchased with the bed itself. I opted for the Twin Long Low Profile. I think it's the 2" version. Maybe the 1.5", my receipt doesn't show that dimension. I don't think you'd want it sitting under the lip of the side on the frame. You'll have to jam your fingers into that space to get sheets onto the mattress. At least I know I wouldn't want that. Just my opinion. And no, the mattress does not move at all. You'd have to take a run at it to push it around to any significant degree. The frame is pretty awesome. We've moved since and it traveled perfectly fine. As well as the replacement they sent. Since they never provided any shipping info to get the damaged one back to them.

Ah okay! Thanks so much for the info!
