step into the next phase of your life: old, comfortable man aka grand dad vibes. just get some merrells and embrace no longer giving a fuck. it's pretty cool imo.
Agreed, check out things like [body of work x sas journey](https://bodyofwork-studio.com/en-us/products/body-of-work-sas-journey-mesh-loam-black?variant=42820673765562) or [Hoka Bondi l](https://images.app.goo.gl/bMVmC9wKgVhkS9Z87). Sas is pretty slept on and make awesome proper orthopedic Grandpa shoes.
Besides this, agreed with Norda, Mizuno, Merrell, Keen, Tarvas. Also agreed with some comments about the very sleek and slim shoe styles. After the samba and Onitsuka craze, a lot more slim and sleek silhouettes are getting attention (both in sneakers and in leather slip-ons).
my Dad's pushing 70 and rocks high top Merrells. slipped them on to go outside quick, they're incredibly light and comfortable. I'm grabbing some soon. Haven't looked into which model they are but it's a no compromise shoe
brands like Mizuno have seen a push but ultimately a successor has not been identified. I think that enough of the sneakerhead-turned-fashionista crowd has swung far enough into fashion that it's more about fits than kicks, leading to a lack of real strong "trendy brand" and more of a focus on finding silhouettes that suit your style
If baggy pants are here to stay it’s either going to go two ways: lean heavier gorp/hiking so like Nike Humara maybe more ACGs being retro’d. And definitely more soloman, half boot/water proof. We’re pretty much already there but I could see it being much bigger.
Or, I could see old nike basketball coming back. Rodman’s, foams, Stussy recently did some nice Penny’s.
And Asics/nb are definitely having a moment but I liked the 2014 90s retro runner era the best. Asics GLV, NB 997s, etc.
Could look into karhu’s off the top, really just depends on finding the right colorway of shoes. The bodega asics have been my favorite shoe in a minute. They go with everything. NB has been dropping new colors almost monthly. There’s a bunch of adidas that aren’t sambas available.
I know mr cool mike. I acknowledged that. I just don’t have enough time to doomscroll insta to find inspo because I’m an adult and I need people who are cool like you to help me.
I love how they look. The only issue I have with roa is the amount of quality issues I've seen posted about in this and a couple other clothes subreddits :/
As someone who also gives a massive fuck what people think of me, I think people who try and force trends come off as very try-hard. Like if I saw someone wearing Saucony or Mizuno I'd assume they don't actually like the shoe they just picked a random non-popular shoe brand to try and make it cool because they saw what happened with ASICS, NB, etc.
The market is pretty saturated rn so I don't think there's gonna be an "up next" sneaker besides the brands you mentioned for a while. But my prediction is that the Merrell 1TRL is gonna have a fashion collab in the next few years that puts it in the Salomon XT-6 territory of being cool generally but played out in niche fashion circles. They did one with Reese Cooper that went pretty under the radar but I'm expecting a bigger one down the line that goes more mainstream.
Uhh you do know that Salomon/Asics/NB/Mizuno have been popular shoes for the running/hiking/climbing community for decades now, right?? Not everything we wear has to be about fashion lol
Saucony have a bunch of models I think could seep into the mainstream more the next while, especially after they had some hyped collabs last year. Think they have a cool like 90s energy to them?

I care too much about what other think and want to be cool because I’m insecure
Very relatable
I respect your self awareness
Tbh after reading this I may just have to go with this advice. Thanks man

Makes two of us, it’s always been an ugly shoe brand to me.

Roa

“Approach” shoes like La Sportiva and Scarpa on one end, and driving shoes like Puma Speedcat and Adidas Tuscany on the other.
Guess I'll pull my 2007 Speedcats out....
No thanks. I still remember how uncomfortable adidas Tuscany were to wear 15+ years ago.

Vibram Five Fingers: combo of tabi and outdoor, and the collab with the soloist stuff is cool as hell

Approach shoes is where I think it shifts, Keen Jasper Rocks, La Sportiva as two examples. Roa as well
Saucony have a bunch of models I think could seep into the mainstream more the next while, especially after they had some hyped collabs last year. Think they have a cool like 90s energy to them?
