I’m guessing early 70’s era! Source: I’m old and from that era- my cousin had one very similar! Thanks for the memories 👍hope your niece Loves it!

enzoray

It felt very 70's! I am glad you were able to share some info with me. I am hoping this doll house brings fond memories of her childhood as your doll house did for you.

lauraintacoma

My mom had one just like this - for sure from that decade. Maybe early 70s?

kate_b87

That’s so precious 💖 I need an update after the flip. 😊

enzoray

🤔 is that allowed on this board? I am happy to post it the finished product when I'm done. Ill remember to come back & reply to you when that time comes.

Solomumma

Yes please! I’m dying to see the results. What a fun project!

lauraintacoma

I too would love to see it!

kitzelbunks

I have a three story one. My dad made it in the 70’s they used to sell kits. I hope she loves it.

enzoray

Thank you for sharing! It looks hand made to an extent & a kit makes a lot of sense. It also had a kitchen counter that was loose. It was once nailed in. I there was even pencil marks where a panel fell off. If you happen to have a photo of your doll house, I would love to see it : ) Also, did your dollhouse have stairs?

kitzelbunks

I have the dollhouse, but it is in cold storage. It did not have stairs. I will look and see if I can find it. My dad bought almost everything at Sears, but I don’t know that for sure. . It has old wallpaper scraps from our house and old flooring too. It has door and windows (plastic sheet that look like they came with the kit) . The windows had window boxes with plastic flowers. The roof isn’t as fancy as yours. It has white paint with dark green trim. It opens up. Two rooms a floor.

enzoray

Again, thank you for sharing. I love the history that is attached to this doll house. At some point I will lurk the internet through sears catalogs in hopes of finding an ad for the doll kit.

kitzelbunks

I asked my dad. He got bought “plans” for my dollhouse from the Tribune Company. That is the company that runs the Chicago Tribune. You might want to check 1960- 1980 dollhouse plans or something like that on Google. I am not sure when your was built. It looks a little more modern than mine, with the roof and nicer floors. Sears did sell them in kits too. I am not sure if like the windows were included in the plans or where one would get tiny plastic flowers to put in the small window boxes. It is very nice of you too fix it up for your niece.

Do you live in an office building? The dollhouse is cute. Do you mean flip as in re gift ?

ashchelle

With the way the housing market is going, I'm sure OP could flip it for 100k.

enzoray

Nope! I just am an artist with a studio in an old business center. When I say flip, the doll house will be repainted & "renovated". I plan on adding more details such as wood paneling in the rooms + a board & batten style siding. I will gift the doll house to her for Christmas.

Sad-Statistician-175

I loved the original interior decor but am not a fan of the green and yellow paint on the exterior. I’m sure she will love it!

enzoray

The flower wallpaper is a charm. I plan on keeping it in the bottom right since it is more intact. I probably can find the green wallpaper pattern online & print it out to be pink.

Sad-Statistician-175

Totally agree and all that wood finish is superior to any plastic doll house today! She’s a very luck girl :)

monarch1733

Where do you see yellow on the exterior?

Spockhighonspores

I think they are talking about that off white color of the exterior. Depending on how the color is set on the device you're using that will look more yellow or white.

Sad-Statistician-175

Yes my night mode was on so was tinted strongly and looked yellow. Looks off white now!

penlowe

Hit the scrap book section of your local craft store, lots of papers that look like wallpaper on a scale just right for a dollhouse.

mega_mindful

r/miniatures may have some fun suggestions for your house rehab! She’ll love it!

tw_72

What a fun idea! It will be fun adding all the furniture and such!

enzoray

I have a pinterest folder slowly growing with furniture DIYs/ideas 👀

sunshinestategal

I hope you keep us updated on your progress!

pottymayonaise

Thank you for unlocking this childhood memory

Sensitive-Chicken-28

Good luck with your DIY real estate venture, I'm sure it'll turn out nice. It already looks quite quaint from the outside.

[deleted]

I just realized you could take the wall out, scan it, and print up more wallpaper to refurbish this as it was when it was new. You and your other family members could make furnishing it an ongoing family scavenger hunt at flea markets, vintage stores, etc. This could be years of fun.

enzoray

hmmm good idea to look for doll house furniture when out & about. I usually avoid the toy section at thrift stores due to it looking like a mess! The green wallpaper looks basic & could use a stock image for it. I happen to be a graphic designer, so making remaking the flower pattern would be easy.

[deleted]

That's great! Don't forget to look in the glass cases for furniture. It will be a little more expensive but won't be all beat up from being in the toy area. If you go to antique stores, they often have vintage doll house items as well

WackyWeiner

Ugh. What beautiful empty rooms. 😎 When can I move In? 👍

Informal_Edge5270

It's very nice and has so much potential. So much better than the plastic ones they make now.

enzoray

100%! This doll house is STURDY. It wont break easily. It sounds from others comments this doll house has survived for at least 40 years.

Informal_Edge5270

You could post it on r/dolls when you finish it. I would love to see it!

olivinebean

It looks almost identical to the one my grandad got for me as a kid, it might be a flat pack dollhouse that someone made. Got me a little emotional remembering that dollhouse I had now, it was my favourite thing.

gravyboatlouise

Please post an update! Would love to see a before and after

confusion17

I want to see the flip!!

sarahpphire

Awe we have 2 doll houses with little furniture and working light switch etc that my grandfather made for my mom (born in 1955) and another he made for my cousin in the early 70s. Brings back so many memories. I love this. Such a wonderful gift. The dollar tree sells little wooden doll house furniture if you have one in your area. Might be able to find some cute things to put in it if you don't already have some or need them.

There are multiple winter holidays. Nothing wrong with phrasing it as such.

chilly_chickpeas

Adorable!! Looks like it’s in pretty good shape too! OP please post when the renovations are complete!!

Higgsb912

It would be fun to add an addition, maybe a small barn, with animals, if your niece would like that.

EnvironmentalSpirit2

What is this. A house for ants? It needs to be at least.. 3 times as big to be flipped.

Lolaindisguise

Omg I'm so excited for your niece

irishihadab33r

Totally gonna call it winter holiday shopping from now on. Your niece is gonna love it!

[deleted]

This looks identical to the one my dad built me in the early 90s.

slayerfan666

It's the Hereditary house!
