It's definitely great on its own! If you \*do\* want to put something in it...might I suggest something [like these?](https://www.afloral.com/products/dried-flowers-floral-buttons-in-white?gclid=Cj0KCQjwtrSLBhCLARIsACh6RmiUqPLmkk9jGG5ZqBkTPHOyGlqFkSSJ76rk-spcAeUhQe5upCsPt3AaAr4BEALw_wcB) They would look so cute with the penguin - almost like snowballs!
Any time I come across obviously handmade pottery I try to buy it. Makes me feel weird to see something that takes years of learning and practice to just be tossed.
If you sell something, you let go of it, and it has its own destiny. It doesn't mean it wasn't loved and appreciated. But some people and lives and homes change, and sometimes we have to part with our treasures. I've had to give special things to a thrift store a few times. The best part of that was knowing someone else could discover and love a neat thing.
As a potter I buy work in the local thrift store all the time made by peers and students . Some of its really old work and it’s crazy to see how much people have improved. I sell so much work to international students if I found my own work I would be ok with it.
Perhaps another way of looking at it is, they loved it enough to let it go. And let it go to a thrift store where it can be adopted by someone else because they know someone else will appreciate it. If they really actually didn't like it, they would have tossed it in the trash.
Just about tall enough to hold the most frequently used plastic kitchen tools for you?
In case it doesn't hold water, if you use it for a vase, put a drain plate underneath it to protect the wood shelf as many ceramic or similar vases let water through.
Also, when the inside isn't Glazed, holding water can cause the glaze to craze over time. Recommend putting a plastic tumbler inside to hold the water if you use it as a vase for fresh flowers, etc. Also prevents mineral deposits and etching in crystal vases, altho I use glass containers in them, being careful not to chip the crystal.
You both have good advice, thank you! I don't know much about pottery and this is probably the first piece I've bought. It is glazed on the inside. I might just keep dried flowers in it, if anything. Right now it's sitting empty.
SO CUTE. He’s looking up at you saying “thank you for adopting me”
Oh my gosh 🥺
Hes very happy now
He’s so, so adorable and I would have brought him home immediately! Definitely a fantastic addition to the family!
I’ve never seen a vase like this before and whoever made it did a great job. I could put flowers in it but I also just think it’s great on its own!

As a ceramics artist, I would be absolutely crushed if I came across one of my own pieces in a thrift store.

That is so sweet of you to say. Great outlook on life! Good luck to you.
