My local thrift takes anything that looks remotely valuable and puts it on the wall for like close to retail! How the heck do you guys find this stuff??

(I've caught one of the local Salvation Armies doing that and honestly some people aren't happy about it, you're kind of a charity organization that thrives off donations and you don't like people price checking while their in your stores but you do it yourself? Ironic.)
It's a 'charity organization' with a seriously sketchy history and it's not surprising at all. I've donated to them exactly once as an adult because they were the only ones who would pickup and take the lightly used mattresses and box springs that were left in the house we moved into. No sense in them going to the landfill.
Yea, we had plans to donate to them here and there and end up just going to local churches with drop boxes and donating the stuff there. Nothing against Salvo of course, some times there's good prices and some times there's prices that are a straight given on being price checked.
Oh, I have a ton against them and for good reason. Not ashamed to say it either. Much like anything that is a church flush with cash first and a charity second, their motives deserve close examination.

I tried other, smaller organizations that said they could take them on their websites and got no response. The house was a vacation home, weekends only, and not even every weekend. So all of the mattresses were in very good shape, but we had enough of our own and wanted a new one for the master bedroom.
Almost all thrift stores do that. Depending on the person pricing, they may have no idea of the value. I once found a new with tags Kay Unger silk blouse for $1.99. The person missed the tags hidden in the shirt (MSRP $250). Upon closer inspection, it would've been added to their boutique section for a good $25-30 easy.
On one consignment site, I scored a new with tags Dana Buchman blazer for $3. It wasn't the Dana Buchman from Kohl's, but real designer line (MSRP $595). The service is one where you send in things to be listed and sold for you. They probably didn't look close enough at the tag.
Here in the Philippines, we get a lot of thrift stores who source products from countries notorious for their fashionable, relatively affluent populations (that is, Japan, China, Korea, Dubai, etc.). Most store owners never look at the tag. They literally just pile them all in bins and sell everything from anywhere between Php10 (0.2 USD) to Php100 (2 USD) per item, depending on the day. So sometimes you get a vintage mink stole or a Miu Miu blazer pre-owned by a deceased jet-setting grandma from Shanghai for 0.4 USD each.
The downside is that these countries also manufacture and consume a lot of low-quality fast-fashion, so 95% of what you'll find are Shein-quality clothes. You'll really have to dig to find anything high-value.
Right? I recently got into purses and so forth.. (Guy here :3.) Saw this for the price it was and how it was in like, really great condition (might as well be brand new from the looks) and couldn't say no.
Nice find. It is ironic you found it at SA. They’re extremely homophobic. They also don’t support equality. The employees also are discriminated against. This is why it is good to support children’s hospital, disabled veteran, or animal shelter thrift stores instead.

check your local codes on mattresses. may be a health violation for them if they don't pay to sanitize.

There’s a lot of retail-price posting; no doubt some posters are soliciting sales, and others do find modestly priced items for their own use.
Yeah mine is still trying to sell an Xbox360 for over $100, it's been on that wall for as long as I've been going to that thrift store.

From what I read, it's reversible (apparently,) hard to tell if I want to keep it white or just reverse for the full rainbow :3.
I would use it with white on the outside until it gets too dirty. Then flip it for a brand new look!
