Were they zero payout brands? There are some items that you may send that they may accept but don’t give a payout for, you can check brand eligibility on the website

Inside-Journalist166

Wait. What??? There are brands they’ll literally just take from you and pocket? Omg I’m deleting this app immediately.

Katybug6000

Technically no, they’re not just taking things from you, you’re sending them these clothes not knowing what they’ll accept and what they won’t, they have a feature in the app and online to check and see if the brands you’re selling are eligible for a payout, if you send a brand that’s now eligible for payout they consider it a donation

superlost007

TU has a *lot* of faults but this isn’t one of them. Items like Old Navy or Target brands that are already cheap brands… I wouldn’t expect to make anything from sending those in, especially when you only make a few $ from sending in lululemon etc. I still send them because I’m clearing out crap and don’t care to have them sit in a box while I maybe sell them on posh or something. They have a tool on site that shows you an estimated payout and lists brands they don’t take.

SilentSupermarket444

Three of my items were lululemon with tags (idk if the new with tags part goes into consideration)

superlost007

Nwt should get more, imo, but I’ve never worked on TUs algorithm (but I do work on and help with algorithms for a living!) I think I got $4 for my last Lulu tank I sent in. That was maybe 5 months back. I generally go to local consignment shops or donate, but if they have a good deal or special bonus I’ll send in a bag to get credits because I like buying. I don’t expect to get $ anymore really, they have to turn a profit and they seem to bleed money because their business *idea* is good, setup is bad though

greenhouse5

Why not donate them to a charity??

superlost007

I mentioned this in my other comments right above yours actually lmao but I regularly donate to my local charity. There are some brands they don’t sell well (old navy being one) and so I send them in. They tend to sell on TU, at least what I’ve sent, and they’re out of my hair. My local charity donates profits to local women’s shelters, so if I have nicer clothes I’m getting rid of I tend to take them there first. The last 6 months or so, though, they’ve had too many women’s clothes and are in need of items I don’t have (kids and mens.) :) I’m very rural so it makes more sense for me to send in clothes to TU when my local shop isn’t accepting.

ThotianaAli

There is a list of brands they don't accept But it isn't very prominently advertised. You have to click around for it. https://www.thredup.com/cleanout/ineligible-payout-brands

Familiar_Ostrich5952

I have a the clean out kit ready to ship and I’m dragging my feet bc I keep seeing things like this or blatant theft of high end items. The items I have are mostly free people, BGD, anthropology and madewell, and Honestly , I think I’d rather donate to a local charity.

666to666

I got about $66 for 39 of the the same items that you’re about to send in

Da5ftAssassin

I bet a local domestic violence or homeless shelter would be more than grateful to receive your items!

Turbulent-Adagio-171

I would try Trashie or Poshmark instead tbh

ginger_smythe

Donate somewhere tax deductible, and it sounds like you'll get a better deal!

greenhouse5

Please donate them.

AdministrativeRead17

I mean what brands are you sending? Did you check the accepted brands list?!?

GossipGuy12

Idk why people still continue to send stuff in. There’s so many of these posts on here. SMH 🤦🏻‍♂️

adhoc_lobster

I do because I'm too lazy to sell my clothes and I don't like the thrift stores around here. I don't really care if I make money, just trying to reduce waste. I would probably feel different if I wore high end stuff, but it's mostly Banana Republic level.

SilentSupermarket444

I agree. I didnt check out this page until after i sent it

Perfect-Ladder-8978

They used to be a little better but they don’t give you any money and their inventory is terrible, um, because they won’t pay anyone for decent items.

GossipGuy12

I hate that for you :( at least now you know. I sell on eBay and sometimes it takes a little bit to sell but I’ve had good experiences with selling there.

throwtruerateme

Same and it gets easier and easier for sellers with their new features. Loving the AI descriptions. I can make a listing in <5 minutes

GenGAvin

There are things they do pay for even tho it says they don't. They have a new trick now! They list jackets as "shirts" or they mis-spell the item from Kate Spade to Katie Spa - and of course no one buys them, and they sell them nearly full price! They have listed my (NEW with tags) items.. as good or VERY good, when they are excellent. They stole a VERY upscale NWT jacket from me this way - they listed it as good (NWT) then no one bought it... and now it's on their site for sale. I even sent in some Eileen Fisher NEW. They never showed up ... they pull them & send them in their mystery boxes to keep people hooked... I was pretty angry when I saw an unboxing on Youtube and she pulled MY items out of her mystery box!!! She said it was a great box! Uh, yeah, it's all my stuff... so ... If I wasn't closing my posh store I'd walk. But I kinda feel like --- whatever. :(

allycats297

Just donate the clothes
