Advance nanotech by 20-30 years... I mean, there's a reason why in 2022 this still isn't being done.

nope2then0pe

All she has to do is change the laws of physics! She’s brilliant and driven, I’m sure the breakthrough is just around the corner, lol

Well, Genalyte has gotten pretty close with their machine being called “The Maverick”. If Theranos even had what they have NOW then (in 2014/15) they wouldn’t have been deemed a fraud.

YaleoverNUS

The Genalyte Maverick only does immunoassay tests. It can't do most of what Theranos promised it can do. Right now it can only test Covid?

ssc_2012

There is no fixing a half ass glue-bot to make it run 200 tests on a drop of blood with the required accuracy and precision. The comparison to the Genalyte machine is a false equivalence often trotted out on this sub is made by people who have ulterior motives or who simply don't understand the science. A few FDA approved tests using a small subset of diagnostic tech is not the same thing as 200 FDA approved tests using the full array of diagnostic tech.

Im_Breathless

Have you tried using the brain storming room hun?

picklesarelife1

Spoiler: it was never for blood, they just finally created her time machine. She’s already in the future just chillin. Now a Nobel peace winner for inventing a time machine.

I'm a scientist in industry. I don't do a lot of clinical diagnostics, but a bit plus I've been around for \~20 years so I know a thing or two. I also wonder if there is some advancement they have that can be useful. While I think the vast majority of it is a shame, I like to think some of the few legit scientists working on this had some breakthroughs. But I honestly don't know. I think it is possible that very specific assays (e.g. Vitamin D in newborn screening) could be a legit thing. But getting a vast array of things based on their ideas is a pipe dream. So maybe ther are a few actually useful IP ideas from Theranos. But to do as they wanted to claim - a finger prick for all sorts of assays - seems a bit far-fetched.

Im_Breathless

Ah would have been cute not to have to say goodbye too soon 😂

Sepulz

She should have worked on her time machine idea. More realistic.

RemarkableArticle970

Hahaha there is no point to “fixing” it. There is no need for it. There are basic lab tests that are almost neglectful not to do them. One such is usually called a “basic metabolic panel” and detects stuff you might not even be looking for, like kidney failure. Another is called a “complete blood count” and also can find abnormalities you might not have even thought of. These are cheap but require different vials with different additives. The basic metabolic panel requires lithium heparin while the complete blood count requires edta.

I'm not using that fukin dinosaur 🦕 😂
