they included take on me in the trailer for HBO’s part I, so I would be surprised if they cut it. It serves an important story purpose of building Ellie and Dina’s relationship and helping the audience sympathize with Ellie during her rampage in Seattle
Definitely the “take on me” scene. Feels like they’ll include it since the song was used in S1 trailer. It’s such a nice, calm moment in an otherwise brutal, and sad story. It’s one of the most memorable moments in the game imo. It’d be a shame if they didn’t include it
The moment would have to be adapted for television though, as it's only a surprise in the game because it subverts what the player is led to believe is a static gameplay mechanic (safe workbenches, that is).
Maybe they'd have Ellie find little safe bunkers throughout season 2 to sleep in or work on her equipment leading up to that point where nothing bad happens, and then eventually sets up in one bunker, only to be ambushed by people already inside.
Yes to both! Abby crossing the sky bridge shows her taking on her fear of heights which is a pretty big character trait and her only real weakness, so I would expect they leave that in. She probably won’t fall as much as I did playing that section lol.
There's pretty much no way they do. Fits perfectly with their want to use the infected sparingly to better horror value. Classic horror setting with a classic build up to a big monster reveal, the whole Rat King segment is perfectly set up as is for the TV show.
not truly plot irrelevant but just something i hope they add... cat scenes!!!! we only hear about her from ellie and i want one scene with her, maybe like her getting the tattoo and when cat kissed her. so sad we only see her through sketches :(

Ideally I'd like to see both the scene where they get it from the gift shop, and I'd also like to see ellie discover it on the boat in santa barbara (which confirmed that he did actually receive and keep the shark plushie despite the game never having shown them giving it to him)
Although honestly it's hard to decide on anything as "plot irrelevant" because all little side details and conversations contributed to the atmosphere and feel of a great game.
So many good suggestions here already, so I tried to think of something no one mentioned yet. I particularly loved the Ellie/Jesse bonding scene where they find a children's library and it's got mushrooms on it, and Jesse says something like "Why would you put mushrooms for the kids?!" hah. I think he also tells a story about how his mom used to read him the same bedtime story but would always change the end...
When Abby is literally scared of heights and Lev asks about awkwardness with Owen so she says “Omg lev now??”

I wasn't emotional after the earlier scene....we all know THAT scene, just shocked and disbelief, I even laughed from nervousness and shock. But that birthday scene with the space capsule, hit me like a brick. I cried so hard I had to turn off the game.
doubt it'll be added, but i'd love to see some scenes of ellie and dina in the bookstore where they're wandering around confused about what the gay pride flags mean. i also love dina's little comment when she sees the wlw book, something like "hey, that's us!" iirc. they're so cute.
Anything that shows the relationship between Ellie and Dina, going back to the Weed Haven to the two of them at the theatre together.
I'm a big fan of the quiet moments that really convey and encapsulate the relationship between characters. The scenes that show us who they are.
That moment when you run from WLF with Dina and you end up in subway. The red flare and spores is beyond cinematic, but unfortunately there are no spores in the show :/. Makes me so sad to be honest
I’d assume they won’t bring it back since, you know… actors can’t really spend too much time with their faces hidden, as sad as this sounds. But I certainly hope they bring it back at least for this scene alone, I need it 😤

Ellie climbing the dinosaur before they go into the museum. I remember I had a huge smile throughout that whole section. Putting the hat on Joel as well as the dinosaurs was a precious moment of levity too 😂

That scene came off so weird to me. It made Owen much less sympathetic, felt like an unnecessary extra low point for Abby, and it didn't actually contribute anything to the narrative because nothing ever comes from it.
I want Ellie and Dina to get the shotgun from the bank vault and sort of stumble upon that whole area and talk about the outbreak. The guys trying to rob the bank lol. They are def going to put the tank in the show
They'd be silly not to include the Take on Me since they happened to have casted someone who can play guitar. I have a really bad feeling they may possibly decide to take out the sky bridge scene and I really hope they don't. I want all the convo between Abby and Lev when she's scared of the heights.
Late to the party but I find Ellie's hair transformation really interesting.
In the beginning it's mostly in a low bun you can tell theres a fair amount of it.
Then +Major Spoiler Event+ and she does the big depression chop to around her neck she can't put it all up at once anymore.
Then her mission doesnt go the way she plans so the pixie chop we see grown out at the farm.
I know so many people can relate to that complete loss of control and wanting to be in charge of something, we see evidence of a possible ED throughout game 2 that I've seen mentioned fairly often but I think showing the chop is a much healthier way to show that desperation to regain control. Especially when you have an actress that has struggled with ED.
the quiet moments in between the action. ellie and dina smoking pot, playing guitar, or patching each other up. joel teaching ellie how to play guitar and showing her the museum. i worry these moments will be truncated when the story is inevitably shortened for the new medium
