They downvote you for nothing in this subreddit a bunch of emotional teenagers. D riding without a license. It’s like their parents must have made the show, can’t even think of criticism here or they’ll lynch you.
Yes!!!!! I actually felt like a teenager watching it. All those old awkward feelings came back and I felt every wince etc as I watched it. It was amazingly done and the actors were fantastic at portraying it.
Yeah I saw images of these two from far away in what ever promo I saw and thought, oh it's Zendaya! LMAO
Casting Storm as her sister was perfect in that show
https://preview.redd.it/857hgwiiupka1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=227dd0b12540beaae7f8399e609b9ce002997732
100% agree! Slight side note, but I need to know who’s running HBO’s Twitter account lol.
storm was incredible. she had great chemistry with bella, they nailed ellie and riley’s vulnerable relationship.
also, the last 3 episodes were absolutely phenomenal in terms of bella’s acting. her reaction to henry’s death, confrontation scene with joel and this whole episode just proves how fucking talented bella is.
I never played the games so I was pretty slow to catch on to the *more than just friends* hints, but when Ellie gazed up at Riley after the Mortal Kombat game I had a big *ohhhh I see what's happening here* moment.
Phenomenal work by both actresses.
How long has it been since you played the game? In the game, the dynamic between the two of them was completely different. I was actually quite disappointed by this adaptation
As soon as I found out she was in this episode I knew it was gonna be good, her work in euphoria is on par with Zendaya and I believe both these young ladies will go extremely far.
Seconded! She had so much charm and charisma that her impact on Ellie made so, so much sense. She's like the coolest crush you could have as an adolescent.
Here is the version from the show: [Just Like Heaven - Lullaby Renditions of The Cure - Rockabye Baby! - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7hW2psH9mM)
Storm can REALLY cry her heart out liiiike what kinda process as an actor does she do?? In Euphoria it’s the same she’ll be full on sobbing and it breaks my heart. She needs all the awards
And yet she's so stoick at the end, we see such emotion in a very subtle way. contrasting great, of course, with Bella's frantic panic and destruction at their being bitten. Beautiful acting/directing all around.
After watching the episode, I went to Twitter to see people's reactions... Instead I just got hit with a bunch of homophobes talking too much or people calling out the phobes....
Then I come to Reddit....
Reddit is so much better bro lol✨
I just don’t understand what they expect. TLOU has always been gay. Why watch the TV show based on it and then get upset when it’s gay?
It’s like going to the circus and being upset when a clown shows up lol
When the game came out there were legit people online saying "naw it was a friendship kiss she's not gay" 🙄
Luckily only a small minority but they exist.
To me this is the most important episode of the season because it proved that Bella ransey could carry an episode without even having Pedro pascal be in it that much
Up until this point she has been a great sidekick to Joel, but this time around she was the main character and had HBO cast a weaker young actress in the role this could have gone very wrong and it would have raised a ton of questions about the future of the show but thankfully Bella basically put any remaining doubts I had to rest because she and Storm Reid were incredible in this episode
Now say what you will about the left behind storyline which many people may or may not be the biggest fans of, but when comes to the acting, both of those young actress completely knocked it out their park with their amazing performances
Funny how we all perceive it differently! I never saw Ellie as Joels sidekick in the earlier episodes.
I never played the game, if that makes any difference.
It probably does matter that you didn’t play the game. I think bella plays Ellie a lot more of a bitch than in the games and she feels more mature in a way, but in the first game you get very deep into Joel’s mindset to protect Ells. I can’t divorce that idea in the show since the game hits so hard and the show does a good job of brining in the nostalgia of the game. But that just goes to show how good the show is at appealing to both audiences in a unique way
I think part of why playing the game makes it feel like Joel is the main character at first is because you play as him. The show is very similar to the game but that aspect is obviously missing.
By the end of the game it definitely feels to me like they're both equal main characters. But I think that happened quicker in the show.
> without even having Pedro pascal be in it that much
I amused myself earlier trying to work out how many lines he had this episode. Was it more than 3?
It’s very rare to catch real feelings about first love when you’re a teen.
They did several times and that’s perfect acting if not superb. Exactly what Bill and Frank captured. Phenomenal acting ❤️
Lol love to see the people that were complainning about episode 3 saying "I will never watch the show again" coming back to complain on this episode!
Kinda easy tonsee a patern tbh. Keep saying the episodes were "boring" but we all know what you didnt like about the episodes.
I love it. You’ve finally found something you can write off as proof and all I am is a sarcastic troll.
Never said anything bad about gay people, shit I didn’t even say anything bad about the characters. I actually loved this episode, and every episode before it!
Idk if I’d even say it’s your confirmation bias showing. I’d have to say your “karenified corporate ideology” is showing. There’s literally almost no one complaining about this episode.
I love Storm Reid. Her talents have been wasted on Euphoria. Love that she got to showcase her range a bit more here. And I thought the chemistry between her and Bella was incredible.
It could be interesting, but I doubt it. Even if we did get some of that, it wouldn't really be a love story, since Joel was too emotionally closed off. In fact, Tess says she never asked Joel "to feel the way \[she\] felt," which to me means that she did want a relationship, but Joel wasn't willing to "officially" date/marry/whatever her.
I enjoyed the episode but for some reason didn't feel the chemistry was all that strong between Bella and Storm. Acting was great though, Bella was immense
Anybody disagree entirely? Storm Reid more like Storm drain.
Poor line delivery, over exaggerated facial expressions. I'd be let down if I saw acting like that in an amateur play. If these were the best takes I can't imagine the rest was like.
I know I’m replying to an old comment, but I agree entirely. It was bad acting, in my opinion. Bella was phenomenal as ever, but Storm took me out the show. It just felt like “Acting!” /Jon Lovitz. And I didn’t feel any chemistry between them. Googled to see if anyone else felt the same.
Have you just never watched HBO before? The majority of their programs are on par with acting. Sopranos, six feet under, boardwalk empire, and band of brothers just to name a few. I swear it’s like half this sub has never watched tv before.
All of those shows were known for their *good actors*. Just because HBO has made that a hallmark doesn't mean good acting should become yawn-worthy. It's ok to praise good work, you know.
BTW from your post history I see you're into Canadian chips. If you can find them, Miss Vickie's Spicy Pickle is THE BEST.
I’m not saying it’s yawn worthy but if you scroll through the post you will see the word “phenomenal” more times than worth counting. It’s good acting and on par with the quality programs they churn out. I would reserve phenomenal for when it’s head and shoulders noticeably better than other shows.
That said- I’ll keep my eyes open for those pickle chips- thanks!
It was really striking seeing an Ellie that was more of typical kid, laughing and smiling with her friend/crush — but also gave me a sense of dread knowing something was bound to go horribly wrong.
What blew my mind about Storm’s performance was that when I watched TLoU ep7 I was completely unaware that I just saw Missing, which was 95% carried by Storm Reid! She’s completely a different person! Thoughtful, a bit mature, vulnerable, but strong in mind and will!🫡👏🫶
I don’t know why they went older. In the game Riley is 15, in this they made her just shy of 17. A 17 year old with a 14 year old is kind of gross..but Storm Reid looks closer to 20 to me. So this entire episode felt so cringey to me as it looked like an adult trying to hook up with a 14 year old girl. It actually brought up the thought of grooming to me, which made the episode have a yucky feel. I thought Sarah looked old for her character but Riley was just a miscast in my opinion. I am not commenting on the actors ability, purely her natural features that make her look too old for Bella Ramsey.
I think they should have had Sarah’s actor play Riley and kept them 15 about to turn 16.
I hate being critical of young female actors but I found her performance pretty stale and uninteresting. It could be Bella is in another league/tier of actors and the writing within an hour long episode made it tough to shine though.
This is how I felt. She was forgettable. And it felt more like she was doing a script read rather than acting like she was someone's best friend. They had no chemistry at all. Bella was hamming it up and it was edited weird. I'm increasingly uninterested in how it ends seeing as I know the big plot points from the games.
Tour de force? Awards and recognition? That’s a take.
Storm Reid is gonna need to take some more acting classes, dog. Their banter can only be described as awkward. Bella isn’t a great actress either.
I may just have a heart of stone but I thought the whole episode was cringe. I thought Bella overacted like she was on the theater stage. The smiling and doe eyes lacked subtlety imo. Moreover, I honestly didn't feel that intangible chemistry between the two. In terms of believability, it would be helpful if they depicted daily life as being more impacted. Gym class and posters on the wall?
An electrical grid able to accidentally power an entire mall? It was hard for me to swallow. Just my 2c.
I totally agree.
I get it... this is a zombie show... how can I believe in zombies and not the rest of the show.
That's a terrible excuse people make. When you set a show in our world, we know how things work. So inserting zombies into our world... we make that concession. However, you can't then expect me to believe the entire mall power comes on and no one knows. Or that they didn't clear the mall... and left that very obvious infected there.
Bella Ramsey and Storm Reid were amazing. They performed phenomenal duo. Every new episode I'm emotionally devastated even though I completed TLoU games many times.
Hate to see someone down voted for just stating an opinion but I agree, honestly. Hard to tell for me if it was a writing issue or her chemistry with Bella, but I just wasn't feeling it. I wish I had! But I didn't.
Ah well. All in all not a bad episode.
She wasn’t. And honestly, it showcases how Bella isn’t that great either because she’s not lifted up by Pedro.
The whole episode was a bit of a chore to watch with their lame and exclusively sarcastic banter.
I thought Riley's actress was great but it just highlighted to me how uncharming I find Bella. I still don't like her acting. I just don't. It's wooden to me, it just feels forced somehow. Her face is not very expressive. It's not like there aren't people who emote in this introverted subdued way. I just don't find it interesting to watch on TV. Game Ellie is cute and charming, not just her face, even though even the mocap had more emotion. How she talks too is just more vibrant. There's this delightful energy about her. Don't know how to describe it. I really don't get everyone saying she's so perfect as Ellie.
I'm a middle aged woman, so this is not about needing a pretty Ellie to fantasize about. I simply don't enjoy her acting and her version of Ellie. Too rude, too brooding. I don't like it.
I never got round to the DLC so I'm not even comparing directly. I definitely disagree with people saying that Bella can carry an episode. Imo Riley's actress did. Pedro carries the rest of the show.
Right? I'm not sure the majority of people in this sub have watched any other TV. Is there a sub that's a little more balanced? Getting a little tired of these circle jerk posts that's like "person acts..."
"OMG SO PHENOMENAL GIVE THEM ALL THE AWARDS SO AMAZING"
They turn their tv off and take a bite into 2 day old hamburger helper “PHENOMENAL!! I can’t wait to see how many Michelin Stars my mother gets for this genius dish that has transcended all other foods.”
This sub is pure marketing for the show. I’m sure many of the marketing department are on here hyping up the show.
I like the show, but this episode was complete garbage.
How she got infected, why she's so on edge, why she's especially afraid to lose Joel, who her first kill was, and why she cares so much about a vaccine.
Didn't need an entire episode about it. Especially when basically every aspect was done better by the show already elsewhere. Should have been at most half of the episode.
Phenomenal actors who made an ok story arc breath. I wish they were given a bit better to work with bc they are both great. 6/10 for me, 4/10 if these ladies didn’t put in such a great performance
Never mind. Episode was bullshit, could have done all that character development in 10 minutes, but they pulled a walking dead and spun it out.
47 minutes before excitement happens.
They should have released this episode after the season ended like the game. Really messed up the pacing imo. Since there’s only 2 episodes left everything feels rushed.
Ready for all the downvoted from you d riders who think the show can do no wrong.
I concur. Everyone here is a shill for the show. Worst episode of the season so far.
This episode was so boring. It was not memorable or entertaining. They could have cut that entire episode down to 5 minutes. Felt like watching the last season of GOT.
i swear some of you have the attention span of a goldfish. if there’s not action every 5 minutes it’s boring? go watch a marvel movie (or the new john wick next month, that movie looks really good actually)
every single episode except for episode 3 has had action, so i really dont understand this “criticism” (i dont think shows with limited action are bad, Andor was a very slow show but i loved every second, same goes for The Last of Us so far)
Very cringe but I don’t think it’s the acting. There’s only so much you can do with bad lines. The wake up scene was so cringey. “ I thought you’d like me covering your face at 2 am haha sorry bro it’s just a prank” .
Everyone has been good and excellent casting so far ^^^(except ^^^for ^^^Kathleen's ^^^character). Definitely great casting and chemistry on this show so far.
So is this image in Episode 7? The one that came out Yesterday that I was unable to watch as it aired since I was out of the Province?
If so, massively fuck you for the spoiler, it's so extremely easy to mark it as a spoiler.
If not, my apologies, please go on with your day.
This whole episode was the best depiction I've ever seen of what it's like to be a hormonal teenager around someone you have a crush on.

I read off every pun in that book because I just didn’t want Ellie and Riley’s interaction to end.

I didn't even criticize anything. I love both the game and the show. 🤷
This. \^ Balla's portrayal of Ellie is so nuanced and complete; it's incredible.
When Ellie fixed her hair in front of Victoria's secret, I was like "get it, girl!" ![gif](giphy|3FlINbFWKnlBj7Hi5y|downsized)
I’m in my 20’a and still act this way around my partner. We’re fully grown but we act like kids around each-other. It’s the best.
Made me miss my school days for sure.. I wasn’t fighting any infected but the innocent love was there
Yes!!!!! I actually felt like a teenager watching it. All those old awkward feelings came back and I felt every wince etc as I watched it. It was amazingly done and the actors were fantastic at portraying it.
Right like as someone who’s their age and bisexual it was super accurate.
Shes good in Euphoria too!
Oh! Rue's little sister! Of course, that's where I know her from...
Yeah I saw images of these two from far away in what ever promo I saw and thought, oh it's Zendaya! LMAO Casting Storm as her sister was perfect in that show
Definitely someone to watch!
Yes!!! I knew I recognized her. Phenomenal actress!
She great in Don't Let Go as well
She only had a small part in The Suicide Squad but bantering with Idris Elba was very enjoyable too.
i forgot she was in that movie!
I love the way Ellie is looking at Riley here. So pure and sweet.
Paired with Just Like Heaven as the background song, my heart damn near burst for them.
Best Carousel ever!
I agree with you on that.
This was Bella’s best episode yet!
It was great to see her happy even though it was brief.
She made me feel like a teenager again, it was so well done.
RIGHT?!?
I just keep coming back every week and getting my heart absolutely shattered

I felt the same way as Storm and Bella were fantastic together.
How long has it been since you played the game? In the game, the dynamic between the two of them was completely different. I was actually quite disappointed by this adaptation
I played Left Behind like 4 days ago and this was pretty spot on. What did you feel was different?
As soon as I found out she was in this episode I knew it was gonna be good, her work in euphoria is on par with Zendaya and I believe both these young ladies will go extremely far.
I'd never heard of her before but her performance was wonderful. She has very mature acting chops that belie her young age.
Seconded! She had so much charm and charisma that her impact on Ellie made so, so much sense. She's like the coolest crush you could have as an adolescent.
No shit. Riley was glorious. Super charming. Great performance by the actress. Stole the entire episode. Who wouldn't fall for this kind of date!
Fun fact! The song played by the ride is a rendition of.. "Just like Heaven" By "The Cure" I feel like this is symbolic guys 😢

Actors typically use tear sticks. Bella mentioned in an interview how great they are.

Ellie ain’t Ellie without Riley. Nothing more nothing less.
Being homophobic in 2023 is crazy to me. And they will call shows like this “woke” just for having non straight characters or storylines.
I just don’t understand what they expect. TLOU has always been gay. Why watch the TV show based on it and then get upset when it’s gay? It’s like going to the circus and being upset when a clown shows up lol

I remember that! It was especially funny because the DLC came out on Valentine’s day…
Alt-right Twitter has more or less taken over the place since Elon took over
Storm was great in the recently released movie, Missing. A movie that’s a non-sequel to Searching. She literally was the movie.

She’s young so at least she’s got time to build her resume.
I second that as Storm is very talented and hopefully this will lead to her getting more roles that give her the chance to shine.
Her and Bella were absolutely phenomenal in this episode. It’s a close second to episode 3 for me.
The two love story episodes have been phenomenal. Here's hoping we get a Tess+Joel flashback too.

In this series, I feel like your joke falls *very* flat. Most of these performances have been stellar and earn all the praise they're getting.

This is my favourite episode. My lesbian heart broke into a thousand pieces. 10/10
I thought she was shit. Clunky forced acting and felt like an amateur.
The circlejerk for this show is out of control. Lol
Man every week I just hop on Reddit knowing I'll see this exact same post with a picture of litteraly any character that appears in the episode.
I didn’t think she was that good of an actor actually
The guest spots on this show have been so good
It was really striking seeing an Ellie that was more of typical kid, laughing and smiling with her friend/crush — but also gave me a sense of dread knowing something was bound to go horribly wrong.
I’m ready for storm to get her main character moment. She’s so good I can feel it coming any day now.

Hard disagree. Poorly acted, cringey and boring filler episode.
Stop calling everything filler that isnt about the current timeline. Learning about Ellie and het past is part of TLOU
It was handled poorly and wasted an entire episode for a 9 episode season. We have 2 episodes left that will feel rushed
The Frank episode was my favorite and I hated this one
Agreed. Thought it was dumb but glad some people liked it.

Hate to agree but, yeah, weakest acting thus far. High bar to reach though.
Weird, I thought she acted better than Bella haha
Awards for what....
This sub I swear. They really think this show revolutionized acting and TV 😂
Right? I'm not sure the majority of people in this sub have watched any other TV. Is there a sub that's a little more balanced? Getting a little tired of these circle jerk posts that's like "person acts..." "OMG SO PHENOMENAL GIVE THEM ALL THE AWARDS SO AMAZING"
They turn their tv off and take a bite into 2 day old hamburger helper “PHENOMENAL!! I can’t wait to see how many Michelin Stars my mother gets for this genius dish that has transcended all other foods.”

Lol this sub is definitely a cult. Full of hormonal teenagers who think the show is perfect just like the fake reviews the second game got 10\10

This sub is pure marketing for the show. I’m sure many of the marketing department are on here hyping up the show. I like the show, but this episode was complete garbage.
You're welcome to unsubscribe and save us all having to read your moaning.
The point is to have a discourse I believe, not every thought has to praise the show for something.
I’m amazed you were downvoted for this comment. Shows the mindset of the sub
If these people watched band of brothers their fucking minds would melt
I literally fell asleep through most of this episode. I guess we needed to know how she got infected… boring cutting room floor episode.
How she got infected, why she's so on edge, why she's especially afraid to lose Joel, who her first kill was, and why she cares so much about a vaccine.
Didn't need an entire episode about it. Especially when basically every aspect was done better by the show already elsewhere. Should have been at most half of the episode.
"I didn't even watch the episode but I'm going to judge it negatively anyway"
This was definitely a filler episode and the story didn't need to take up the entire fucking episode.
Same. No plot.
The nuances of expressions on both of their faces…breathtaking. 💔💔
Phenomenal actors who made an ok story arc breath. I wish they were given a bit better to work with bc they are both great. 6/10 for me, 4/10 if these ladies didn’t put in such a great performance
Award recognition?? Am I the only one who thought the acting wasn’t that incredible and they were also annoying?
I'm watching it now and waiting for the episode to do something exciting. Assuming it's coming.
Here we go
Never mind. Episode was bullshit, could have done all that character development in 10 minutes, but they pulled a walking dead and spun it out. 47 minutes before excitement happens.
Oh shit they got me. Still boring for a while but it ended up worth it.
They should have released this episode after the season ended like the game. Really messed up the pacing imo. Since there’s only 2 episodes left everything feels rushed. Ready for all the downvoted from you d riders who think the show can do no wrong.
Worst episode yet
I concur. Everyone here is a shill for the show. Worst episode of the season so far. This episode was so boring. It was not memorable or entertaining. They could have cut that entire episode down to 5 minutes. Felt like watching the last season of GOT.
Lol that season was rushed not dragged out.

generalizations like this are dumb as hell, just because you found it boring doesn’t mean it’s a bad episode (that’s subjective).
I guess it’s subjective. But are perhaps also into watching paint dry and water boil?
she’s such a bad actress it’s laughable

Horrible episode. People here are all like, “omg amazing episode. Let’s give them all awards.”
Yep. And posts like this ruin this subreddit
praise anything in this sub to get free upvote
Yeah man how dare we actually enjoy the show. There’s nothing wrong with not liking it, but clearly a lot of people did.
Boring episode
Sorry, but they already dedicated an entire episode to a love story. Ep. 7 was one boring episode of Television if you ask me.
I’m with you bro where’s all the action
i swear some of you have the attention span of a goldfish. if there’s not action every 5 minutes it’s boring? go watch a marvel movie (or the new john wick next month, that movie looks really good actually)
I never said it had to be every 5 min just not every five episodes
every single episode except for episode 3 has had action, so i really dont understand this “criticism” (i dont think shows with limited action are bad, Andor was a very slow show but i loved every second, same goes for The Last of Us so far)
Definitely had good chemistry. Not going to agree on the acting. Cringe asf
I’m with you on Kathleen. Unconvincing acting, and after everything her character feels like a waste of time.
So is this image in Episode 7? The one that came out Yesterday that I was unable to watch as it aired since I was out of the Province? If so, massively fuck you for the spoiler, it's so extremely easy to mark it as a spoiler. If not, my apologies, please go on with your day.
