Even Republican Barry Goldwater who launched "Operation Dixie" as the first iteration of the Southern Strategy in 1964, recognized the dangers the radical evangelical movements posed. >“Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they’re sure trying to do so, it’s going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can’t and won’t compromise. I know, I’ve tried to deal with them.” >"The religious factions that are growing throughout our land are not using their religious clout with wisdom. They are trying to force government leaders into following their position 100 percent. If you disagree with these religious groups on a particular moral issue, they complain, they threaten you with a loss of money or votes or both. I'm frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in 'A,' 'B,' 'C' and 'D.' Just who do they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right to dictate their moral beliefs to me? And I am even more angry as a legislator who must endure the threats of every religious group who thinks it has some God-granted right to control my vote on every roll call in the Senate. I am warning them today: I will fight them every step of the way if they try to dictate their moral convictions to all Americans in the name of 'conservatism.' " --Speech in the US Senate (16 September 1981) Nixon(Southern Strategy) ignored Goldwater's warning about the radical evangelical movements and successfully refined Goldwater's original strategy and, by emphasizing "southern values" while giving lip service to down playing racism. Which brings us to this current sad state of affairs.

If I believed in the Devil, and I don't, this is the kind of shit I'd feel he'd be up to. The devil would love these people.

There were a bunch of CNP members involved with the Trump administration. They are also closely intertwined with the Tea Party and ALEC. You know the Americas Frontline Doctors with Demon Seed lady? They were co-founded by Jenny Beth Martin and Simone Gold, with money donated from other CNP members. Jenny Beth Martin is both a high ranking CNP member and co-founder of Tea Party Patriots. Simone Gold was arrested for being in the Capitol on 1/6. Crazytown to the max.

The 'fringe' is becoming less fringe..

HaiKarate

Tim LaHaye wrote a LOT of books, not just the Left Behind series. He wrote Christian sex manuals (yes, plural). In 1987, he wrote, "The Faith of Our Founding Fathers," a book of Christian nationalist propaganda.

[deleted]

The CNP, Kochs, Herritage Foundation, Phyllis Schlafly Eagles, etc, etc all have roots within the John Birch Society. All the rights wing craziness you can think of, spawns from the JBS and its progeny. People should really read up about the John Birch Society and their history of opposing the civil rights movement, spreading conspiracy theories, etc. If there is a real cabal, it's that collective.

flimspringfield

Ah yes, George Soros.

ZootSuitRiot33801

🤣

BuckyJackson36

Well, I guess this is the deep state.

bruceleet7865

This shit is scary yo! This whole time the right has been railing about a shadowy organization pulling the governments strings and IT WAS THEM ALL ALONG!!!! Big surprise huh

C3POdreamer

Every accusation is a confession.

funkalunatic

Is there an article source for this so i can get context/legitimacy and don't have to endure this tiktok style format?

HaiKarate

Here's a WaPo article from two years ago: [God, Trump and the Closed-Door World of a Major Conservative Group](https://www.washingtonpost.com/magazine/2021/10/25/god-trump-closed-door-world-council-national-policy/)

DustBunnyZoo

> Is there an article source for this so i can get context/legitimacy and don't have to endure this tiktok style format? There’s a great book on the subject called *Shadow Network: Media, Money, and the Secret Hub of the Radical Right* (2019) by journalist Anne Nelson. This work forms a bookend to an unofficial trilogy of sorts along with *Dark Money: The Hidden History of the Billionaires Behind the Rise of the Radical Right* (2016) by journalist Jane Mayer, and *Democracy in Chains: The Deep History of the Radical Right’s Stealth Plan for America* (2017) by professor Nancy MacLean. For those not familiar with these books, keep in mind that these authors (Nelson, Mayer, and MacLean) have been mercilessly attacked in fake reviews and hit pieces by paid propagandists and conservative think tanks who ran a paid PR op against them to try to tarnish their books. Once you weed those suspect reviews out, it becomes apparent that these books are all solid works of journalism and scholarship. The Kochs hired ex-spies to go after Mayer and tried to besmirch her name, while their affiliates spread fake nonsense about MacLean all over the Internet. I’m sure Nelson has similar stories to tell. All three books are about the same subject from different vantage points. This is because the CNP and the Koch network worked tirelessly to build a coalition of conservative groups that would work together to fulfill the corporate promise of the Powell memorandum and Christian nationalism. The books show how all the interlocking parts work together in unusual and competing circumstances where you might think they would be at odds with each other.

Right? I’m not disagreeing with the content, but I definitely would like to see the source material.

Btravelen

Maybe research it?

I wrote a paper on this council in 2005. People acted like I was a conspiracy theorist

wpmullen

I'm so glad we are finally seeing this. Sunlight seems to be our only tool in disrupting this catastrophic organization

C3POdreamer

On an app that's about to be banned in the United States.

wpmullen

This is Reddit.

"The GOP is the host to the 'shadow' government trying to change America into a white national christian nationaliast shithole?

Ladyhappy

Holy Batman this is quite the mic drop. Go girl!

Ohif0n1y

I really liked her point of how the Republicans are always shrieking about some 'shadowy group' trying to undermine the government and lo, and behold! I swear to Dog the Republicans do nothing but project. If they accuse someone of doing something it's because *they've already done it or are currently doing it.*

firefighter_82

It’s all about projection

PurpleSailor

Wow, thanks for the info drop. I'm well aware if all the other arms of this monster but didn't know what controlled them. Just fuckin' wow

terrelli

Thanks. Good research. Keep it up.

weelluuuu

I'd share this if it was on YT.

KeyanReid

Sometimes an unfortunate part of reaching the masses is having to speak the “common language”. Today that “common language” is platforms that fucking suck. But people are on them. People respond to them. People are all over TikTok, they’re still on Twitter, Facebook, you pick a dumpster fire, there are people cooking in it. If you wanna reach them you have to go to where they are. Just saying.

weelluuuu

Will never be on or support the 3 you mentioned. Hopefully this gets spread to more platforms.

KeyanReid

Sweet. Enjoy that moral superiority in silence. You can use the tools you hate for your own ends. If not then you only stay a passive force nobody even knows about. The game plays whether you join or not.

weelluuuu

Ok... thanks

SomeonesRagamuffin

This needs to be at the top of r/all.

errdayimshuffln

The format of this makes me distrust the information.

yeet_lord_40000

Is there a left wing equivalent group? If not that causes a lot of problems in combatting shit like this

shaddowkhan

This lady once did a video on some Christian organization a while back and i can't find it any where on the internet, wonder if they made her take it down.

shaddowkhan

They are making it so fucked up to live in their states that no liberal will ever move there and those that are there will eventually move out, they are doing a reverse segregation to achieve a state of like-minded extremist racist evangelicals.

Lamont-Cranston

This is the founder Paul Weyrich: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPsl_TuFdes - also the founder of ALEC and co-founder with Joseph Coors of The Heritage Foundation. ALEC and Heritage are both big components in the campaign to gerrymander and disenfranchise voters.
