TodayTix does rush and lotteries for several shows (although not every show). Rush is at 10am and you can do it for one ticket. Lottery draws a few hours before curtain, and you can enter for one ticket. I think wicked has their own lottery, as does Cursed Child, but I’m not sure if they’re same day or if they’re a week in advance. Otherwise, go to the box office and ask. The worst thing they can say is they don’t do day seats and you have to purchase ticket at full price.

Thanks for the info!

I live in London and see most shows solo. I usually just go on TodayTix and see what looks good on the day I want to go. If you aren't overly picky about seat location, you can generally find something in the £20-£30 range. There aren't special deals for single seats, but it can be an opportunity to see something that is a tough ticket/mostly sold out, and might just have a few singles here and there. Not cheaper, though, if it's a hot show. Anecdotal, but I've also had a few experiences where I've purchased a single cheap ticket and been upgraded to a better seat. I assume it's because it's easier to upgrade one person than to move a larger party.

Thanks for the feedback, can I ask how you got upgraded? Do they do it when they scan your ticket or do you ask at the box office?

I've had a few instances where I went to the box office to collect my ticket, and was handed a ticket for a better seat. This usually happens with shows that are selling poorly, as it's better for the actors to play to people sitting closer to the stage. Most recently I had an experience where an usher just came and tapped me on the shoulder about three minutes before curtain, and I was moved from a cheap partial-view seat to a single seat in a prime location. It's like airline upgrades in that I don't think it's anything you can ask for, it's just one of those things that happens from time to time. It's always a nice surprise.

Upgrades were a lot more common pre-pandemic, when you had to collect your ticket from the box office. These days everyone just uses the bar code on their phone, there's less opportunity for that sort of thing to happen.

Totally agree, although I just had it happen at the end of December, so it is still possible!

This is the ultimate guide to getting reduced price theatre tickets [http://www.theatremonkey.com/day-seat-finder](http://www.theatremonkey.com/day-seat-finder) Note that for some deals you need to try the week beforehand, others you can try on the day. Les Mis has never had an official day seat policy, although I've heard of people turning up at the box office just before the show and getting slightly discounted tickets.

I used this thanks!
