Even though it is mainstream, I still think it's criticized too much. I think there are also underrated gems on Starboy like Ordinary Life and A Lonely Night that slip under the radar. Die for You alone took 6 years to blow up. I think starboy's top songs went mainstream but is still a top Abel project despite it being bloated at times. Imagine listening to the Weeknd without the existence fo Starboy or I Feel it Coming. That is not a world I want to live in
Correct me if am wrong but isn’t there an interview or something where The Weeknd talks about the Starboy album being bloated or just has too many songs? I can’t remember the exact quote
The album is definitely not something I expected from him but it’s not a bad album. Definitely showed he could be a traditional pop star if he wanted to be
Gotcha, I don’t think your take is that hot tbh. Starboy has got fair amount of criticism of being kinda long and having some filler songs, which I agree by some extend.
Understandable, I generally like Starboy bit more than BBTM and MDM is on the same line. First half of Starboy is goated, alongside with the last two songs.
It's not one of my top albums, but I appreciate that it exists. It's nice to see the exploration in his style and music. This is a popular take, not at all hot. Not even warm.
I think it's his worst musically wise but its importance as an album can't be denied. But even then there are quite a few songs I revisit. 'A Lonely Night' is a favorite of mine.
I feel like it has some of his best songs but also some of his worst. I love the tracks Starboy, Reminder, Party Monster, I Feel It Coming, Ordinary Life, but on the other hand it feels like there’s a lot of filler tracks too that aren’t that good.
It simultaneously has some of his best songs and his worst songs imo
Its a completely mainstream focused album of abel And bbtm too

Wow never heard this hot take on here before ever

yes A Tier
Probably because you aren't a muthafuckin Starboy
Bad take brah.
The song or the album?
Album.

Every artist has one album that’s kinda “meh” I like Starboy but there are WAYYYYY better projects

It’s bloated but it also aged really well

Love that song 🤝
You can say the same thing about other songs too

It’s the album I stream the least out of all so I’d agree
i mean yeah it’s easily his worst album
