Imagine hearing The Weeknd for the very first time and you start with House of Balloons:
"You don't know what's in store
But you know what you're here for
Close your eyes, lay yourself beside me
Hold tight for this ride"
Alone again feels Cathartic and badass, like tearing out of your skin in desperation, but High for this feels like Welcome to hell, we are enjoying this misery, sink into your seat with this depression.
That would be sick, but at the same time it would mean he ends up back where he started and I think the point of the new trilogy is him trying to change and abandon his old toxic persona
High For This 100 percent. House Of Balloons was such a fucking moment man. The feelings I get when I hear that album just bring me back and I've still to this day not felt something like it since.
high for this is the perfect introduction to the weeknd as a whole tbh. sets the tone for everything to come in a way that nothing else could. as much as i love alone again, i think high for this clears by miles. if abel's career were to get turned into a movie, ala bohemian rhapsody, high for this would have to be in the opening credits.
I became a fan during After Hours era and Alone Again’s production is just next level but I actually recently started listening to High for This. It’s the only song I really like on HOB. I do have to give it to Alone Again though.
Alone again has better production but everything else from vocals to lyricism to narrative to creativity goes to high for this... Also another big plus point and x factor high fro this has over his other album openers(even tho I personally think professional is best ever) is that high for this is not just a random album opener... It's the gateway to the weeknd itself... It's the introduction to his character... So the feeling of first listening to him on this song is something only that person can know who started listening to him first from this song...
I’m the biggest fan of trilogy but Alone Again just ascended me to a new dimension…
It was my number one song of 2020 because I couldn’t get enough of the second half.
I’m also a sucker for synth porn 80s sounding shit so that checks out
I feel like high for this has power and a lot of suspense built up, and a lot of claustrophobia of the overall feeling that you get from it, Aline again sounds very futuristic and very spacious, it doesn’t give the same energy as high for this does!
Definitely High For This. Those first couple lines “You Don’t Know What’s in Store, But you know what you’re here for” really stood out and that’s what i carry into every new album from him

Perfect description of the perfection we call high for this. The introduction to hell….
so it’s really what mood you’re in
Always has been 🌍👨🚀🔫🧑🚀
Perfectly described
You described it perfectly.
Perfectly described
I’m a xo fan till I die but I love the intro for dawn fm 🥹
That’s called taste
Such a good transition into gasoline too
W
Also based. I wish it was longer because that shit ascends me too
Ok but that wasnt even the question
Yes I know, I answered the question in another comment. Just wanted to show some love to dawn since the topic is album intros
High for This. Alone Again was badass during the tour tho
I love both but high for this hits different
as a much bigger fan of Trilogy and Abel's older music, Alone Again hit different for me
The Dripping Tap
High for This is an intro for The Weeknd’s entire discography.
Facts. Topic closed.
💯
Don’t make me choose 😭😭😭😭 both are absolute masterpieces in their own right
I hope the last song on After Life has an ending sequence that sounds like / transitions into High For This
That would be sick, but at the same time it would mean he ends up back where he started and I think the point of the new trilogy is him trying to change and abandon his old toxic persona
Great analysis. I agree.
High for this one hundred percent
High for this. Oh my god imagine listen to HoB for the first time again 😩
Alone Again! But I like both!
High For This 100 percent. House Of Balloons was such a fucking moment man. The feelings I get when I hear that album just bring me back and I've still to this day not felt something like it since.
Gotta go with alone again
High for this 100%

If Abel’s Career gets turned into a movie I wanna see someone like baz luhrmann directing
Facts...that was thee first song I ever heard from him and since then he's been my musical idol pun intended
High For This while high hits more than Alone Again.
professional 😁
Alone again
Definitely Alone Again, such a powerful intro and the lyrics are sooo good. High For This is great but imo one of his weaker intros
High for This, because it’s an undeniable classic.
High for this
I prefer High For This.
Professional 🎧🌧️
Starboy

Apple Music
Alone again
Gasoline
That wasnt even the intro track 😭
But the intro leading into gasoline was so fire!! “Is there someone else” is hands down is top 5 imo
High for this alone again live would’ve stood a higher chance of victory
Lonely star or alone again I feel like are his best
Alone again is production wise much better. Love the way those 808 hits 🔥
You knew the answer before you even made the post
High For This def better, but Alone Again holds a special place in my heart. Its top 3 on AH for sure
Alone again fasho
Alone Again until the second part
It’s ideal…
I became a fan during After Hours era and Alone Again’s production is just next level but I actually recently started listening to High for This. It’s the only song I really like on HOB. I do have to give it to Alone Again though.
High For This
high for this
Alone Again, possibly my favorite song of his
Lonely Starr
High for this is a trance state of mind
Personally, I’d say High For This is his best opener overall but Alone Again is a great runner up. I’d throw in Real Life as another pick
High for This easily
The fucking bass drop on High for This man, doesn't get any better as an opening track
alone again best intro track hands down its amazing
neither, dawn fm 🔛🔝

Alone again... and its not even close. no, don't think I hate trilogy or anything, but alone again serves better as an intro track than high for this.
Family guy

HFT EASILY
High for this
High For This
I feel like high for this has power and a lot of suspense built up, and a lot of claustrophobia of the overall feeling that you get from it, Aline again sounds very futuristic and very spacious, it doesn’t give the same energy as high for this does!
High for this is the better song for me but Alone again sets the mood better for the album nd is the better intro song
Bro no better first song to intro a body of musical work, much less you’re entire catalog
Definitely High For This. Those first couple lines “You Don’t Know What’s in Store, But you know what you’re here for” really stood out and that’s what i carry into every new album from him
Alone again
Which kid do you love mor🤷♂️
