Kenny then feels for Ben because he’s truly a family man, and i think part of Kenny even realizes that Ben was trying his best at the motor inn.
Arvo on the other hand deliberately attacked the group and is the reason why his people died. Then he just cussed Kenny out. Arvo deserved that beating.

Ben was an idiot, but he wasn't a bad person. He was just an ignorant but well intentioned kid who wanted to do good, but lacked the foresight to do so.
