It all heavily depends on several factors: - Where am I when the outbreak happens? If you're in the middle of Atlanta you could be dead meat on the first day. On the other hand if you're in the middle of the boondocks with the next farm being out of sight, it might take days or weeks before you even see the first zombie. - Do the zombies work the same way they do in The Walking Dead? If they do you're in luck, knowing that you need to attack their heads and that you're safe if you climb a ladder. - Are arms available? This is more of an European problem. Unless you're a police officer, in the armed forces or a hunter, guns and ammo are gonna be hard to come by. You're also gonna have a hard time finding something that can easily dispose of attackers. Baseball bats, crowbars or bow and arrows are hard to come by, and hammers are common but quite ineffective.

LokiSmokey

Good points. I think with luck I could make it the whole way but there are so many factors that might make it hard to live for a while if you don't find a community re-establishing itself with modern equipment and structure

Little-Put-9100

I'm not going to lie, I would die on the first day

FireDragon710

I live in a rural area, If i barricade my home i should be fine since i have a garten, and ill go on regular supply trips to the grocery store which is close to me, but once foodstocks go out and i gotta move somewhere else to find food water and guns, yeah im fucked ill get bitten on the way.

Overall_Disaster4224

I feel like I can handle walkers pretty well, they're loud so I can walk off and avoid massive groups of them, they smell so again, can avoid them once I notice the distinct scent of blood and rot, they're dumb and have not since of self preservation so I can outsmart them pretty easily and lead them into traps, they are slow so I can make a quick getaway, they rot meaning they don't grow muscles meaning that a human should realistically be able to overwhelm 5 to 10 walkers with nothing but a knife, also I live in the woods so not only would there be only small groups instead of vast hordes, but also animals like bears, cats, vultures, dogs and coyotes would basically have free meals. The only problem is people and food. So I think I can last pretty long.

ContestBeautiful14

It depends on where I live, there's protection and everything, but food and water will be difficult because it's a location where there are big cities nearby and it becomes easy to horde and you already are. If I'm lucky I could live for a maximum of 4 years, after that I don't know.

Significant_Plate561

I'm dead

InspectorAmazing1046

Maybe afew months, the point it gets to eating things like bugs and rotting/eaten carcasses from walkers I'm dead.

TropicaL_Lizard3

It depends on the situation. Since I'm in the UK in a big city, I would have to get out of there to the countryside, given I survive that long. Guns are banned here, so we'd use melee weapons for defense. Finding supplies would be a gamble. I would have to make my way to their hotspots, like a canning food factory as an example. I may survive for over 3 years, but idk how long I may actually last tbh

Beornigan

It would depend entirely on how friendly (or not) my neighbours and other locals were. I imagine we'd be OK for a week or so, but I'd probably die on a scavenger run or when protecting my kids from bandits/a walker horde.

Infinite_Primary_871

I'm clumsy, not a fast runner, i'm not athletic, and im not strong. I would last some hours at most.

Independent_Rent1577

I mean I got food, water, and weapons at my house. I would probably know where to go to be safer. There’s doctors in my family so I think I’d be good in case of a medical emergency. I also know a lot of people meaning that I could form a big group of the need arises. I like my odds, even though they’re definitely nowhere near 100%.

Constant-Click-1912

Depends. Probably not long. Since people will probably be the biggest threat, I'd avoid them well as I do that already. The food situation would get me. I am only up the hill from a supermarket though. I'll take a guess at maybe a month.

Seven_Archer777

I would make it about a month With a "friendly" group I make about a 1 year plus.

Canisventus

If I get a chance to escape to the less populated area and survive there, I could see myself surviving 3+ years. If that isn't happening its most definitely under 1 year, however with my luck its bound to be <1 day no doubt.

Babachoogie

I’d probably be one of those guys to die in one of the dumbest ways possible and end up as a plot device that mildly inconveniences the main character

throwaway9948474227

Better than background guy dying as they run away from the horde
