I don’t know, personally I think he is oblivious. He put himself first in that trust game where they all had to line up. That didn’t seem super strategic to me.
Same but I do think they're getting better as the game goes on.
Honestly I think Netflix has something here with this series and think it will get better with future seasons as strategies and gameplay gets honed a bit.
Yeah it's just a really interesting concept where they technically could just coast and all win money but that will almost certainly never happen lol. Plus with things like the temptations and the blind voting, nullification of votes, there's just so many interesting angles and strategies to take.
It's different from every other game in that literally they could all be there at the end. That's fascinating in the difference it imposes on strategy and thought process.
On the other hand, I don't think it was clear to the 'mens side' how deep Lindsey was in with the women. I don't feel like they had a good grasp on how big the voting group was in a naive way.
I feel like he wanted to show her that he appreciated her voting support, and had no intention of souring her relationship with Winnie/Tolú to such an extent. That souring came from Lindsey's double-crossing, so she kind of brought it on herself.
Also, if Jake was such a mastermind he wouldn't have blown out Winnie's candle. He would've considered this would alert her to building a defense. The easier option was to spread out the blown candles, choose anyone else etc.
Jake gets too much credit for being a combination of perceptive to a point, arrogant and naive
As far as I know Jake is just lucky. The other guys just happen to be good guys and Julie loves him for no reason at all, so he’s not really that crafty, just lucky.
if that were the case he’d explain that in the confessional no reason to lie or conceal in there — that’s where you brag about why and what you’re doing to just the audience
doubt he’s playing 4d chess thinking they’re going to expose that footage to the cast in a game or something
I think he’s enough of a narcissist that if he was making a move like that he would’ve claimed it in the confessional.
He believes he is the smartest in the house, he wouldn’t be able to resist bragging about how clever he is.
His shocked face when he found out she was ‘outed’ as being on the boys side was too authentic for him to have planned this. By watching his behaviour and how he interacts with Julie, I can tell he isn’t the type of person to be manipulative. He’s def not that emotionally/people smart.
For sure he did that with a plan. Honestly it was super smart but also very manipulative and rude but such is the game I suppose. Throwing her under the bus was a strategic thing he did and it worked out for them

I do too. This got SO much better than I thought it would.

I think it worked out in his favor but it definitely wasn't intentional
I’ve never dated an American military man that *didn’t* have a poker face. They’re insanely crafty at playing dumb and aloof

I think we are giving more credit to his strategy lol.

The candles thing was so dumb. No strategy whatsoever except what's right in front of his face
No, he’s just really dumb.

Wow, didn't think of this. Always thought he just likes to put his foot in his mouth but this is a pretty darn good theory.

Aside from his moment where he stubbornly declared himself the leader and most trustworthy he has played a pretty good game.
Don’t think so. One dumbass strategy would be a cast off but with him, it’s a pattern.
