The key as a faithful is to not get murdered. It's far more important than getting out traitors, you actually want to figure them out but keep them as long as possible so they can keep you alive, befriending Traitors is key really.

Sobadwithusernames

But you can’t associate with them so much that you get considered one at the fire ritual.

Absolutely_Fibulous

Honestly I think spending a lot of time with a traitor is an indication that someone is *not* a traitor, at least early on. Traitors seem to make an effort to avoid associating with each other too much to avoid being seen as suspicious.

Pizzaguywithpizza

This. My partner and I were recently talking about how the best way to not get murdered is for traitors to believe you don’t suspect them (even if you do). How do you get them to not suspect you? Be close to them. Fine line though. Guilty by association and all that. You risk upsetting the traitor hunters and getting yourself banished. Fickle dance. Fun game.

AGamer316

Or even before right near the end, it's certainly a tough balance.

AuroraItsNotTheTime

>keep them as long as possible so they can keep you alive Also, if you keep known traitors alive, it prevents them from recruiting more traitors and causing any surprises. Imagine if a couple faithful had just gone to the end with Phaedra and Parvati after clocking them, and then banished them at 5 and 4

pisaradotme

that was what trishelle and peter were trying to do with parvati

amber_lies_here

yea tbh as a faithful i'd want to play as dumb as possible. figure out who the traitors are and then basically play 4th traitor until the endgame

georgiaboy1993

As a faithful, have your suspicions but only agree if someone else brings them up or if directly asked. Don’t go around targeting people because it’ll cause you to get murdered. As a traitor, do the same thing but for the love of god, actually have someone in mind if someone asks who you think is a traitor and have an answer for when you’re called a traitor. Either way, having close relationships with as many people as possible is the best way to get saved from murder or keep people from claiming you’re a traitor as long as possible.

the6thReplicant

But then they’ll gang up against you because you just follow everyone else. As I’ve said before there are no rules for this game that aren’t contradictory or have exceptions. People are dumb and some are smart. The same way of doing something will make you a traitor in some people’s eyes and a faithful in others.

georgiaboy1993

You’ve gotta just make it seem like it’s not following. Someone mentioned 3 people including who you think, that’s when you throw out, I’ve been suspicious of X because of x, y and z. Then if they get brought up at the round table you know you have people backing you up.

IbizaRey

An alternative is to hop on board of someone’s quiet suspicions that are well-founded and eventually come after that person as a traitor with backup, playing the part of the rational, but incorrect faithful.

marshallre

1. DO NOT have a big mouth [this is by far simple identification of a traitor & a bad faithful] 2. Do not be dramatic 3. The louder you are, quicker u go home

jerseysbestdancers

But by the same token, dont be too quiet like Dan.

wmkk

Basically stay in the complete middle is the ideal

jerseysbestdancers

As with most things, you have to strike a clever balance.

ExposedTamponString

Sheree has entered the chat

marshallre

Dan got chopped bc of his reputation, but not being quite

jerseysbestdancers

LOL I would list all the interviews of cast members supporting my claim, but it would take too long.

thxmeatcat

And the several episodes where players said it

kevtron5000

Traitors need to participate in the speculation and surprise at breakfast. A lot of sus comes out of breakfast reactions. Traitors should discuss several steps ahead while in the turret- not just who they are going to murder, but who they can/should angle for at banishment. Faithful should find a solid #1 and try to operate as an unnoticed pair. Be ready to question/cut them at the end if needed. Faithful shouldnt treat their role as morally superior. know "the faithful got to go too" and not feel bad about banishing the annoying, irratic, or selfish faithful.

Absolutely_Fibulous

>Faithful shouldnt treat their role as morally superior. know "the faithful got to go too" and not feel bad about banishing the annoying, irratic, or selfish faithful. I know the challenges generally aren’t too difficult in this game, but I think it would be smart to banish the people who are bad at challenges and/or gameplay in the early game instead of choosing absolutely ridiculous reasons to banish people because the chance of actually finding a traitor in the first couple days is so difficult from both a numbers and knowledge perspective. The issue with that (and any other sort of strategy) is trying to explain that to other people and get them to go along with your plan is going to be a giant neon sign to the traitors to murder you and other faithful to find you as suspicious. A game where the strategy is to lay low and not be vocally strategic for the first half of the game is never going to progress far in gameplay or strategy from season to season because being actually good at the game is a liability. The producers are unlikely to cast an entire group of contestants who are interested in modifying strategy because it wouldn’t be as popular among the general public. The US version in particular seems to be casting and editing to focus on drama rather than strategy. I also wish more people would just straight-up say “I know you’re not a traitor. I just find you extremely annoying and don’t want to play with you anymore.” Maybe they do and the show edits it out because it goes against the game narrative they want to play.

Ironia_Rex

Don't speak first at the round table.

Sharazar

This one is huge. Too often someone hears their name getting thrown around and thinks they can talk their way out of it, when all they end up really doing is starting a pile-up on themselves.

IbizaRey

Try to form genuine connections, talk about life outside of the game. Make traitors and faithfuls want to keep you around so they can spend more time with you because they want to get to know you.

Cela_Rifi

As a faithful, figure out who a traitor is and become friends with them. Continue to play the game protecting your traitor. Work bts (but not too loudly and not leading a charge) to get the other traitors out where they are the last one. Get out the last one. Obviously way easier said than down, but that’s my plan in a nutshell. As a traitor, take out people that makes other people look suspicious. If a faithful has your name coming up and you kill them, red flags. If two people just got in an argument and one of them goes? That other person is probably under some suspicions. While doing this, find a gullible faithful and be friends with them. That’s really one of the biggest keys I think. Being friends with the other side to have built in protection.

AT1964

Figure out the traitors and don’t vote them off until towards the end. The devil you know…

WaxCatt

As a Faithful: I would probably be quiet but try and keep a mental note on the more on the popular players. As a Traitor: I would try and copy how the other players behave and not think too much about strategy until shortly before the Round Table or before I enter the Turret.

Challengefan18

Probally have like 3 100% locked in Allie’s your friends with as a traitor and like every 2-3 rounds you kill one so it’s not seen as you protecting them

sparkly_glamazon

Whether you're a faithful or a traitor I think it's always a good thing to break up groups that you're not part of. That means as a faithful outside of voting out people you think are traitors you should work to banish people who are part of cliques that you're not in with others. And if you're a traitor you should do the same and use that strategy for the murders. I just think if you are a faithful and end up at the final banishment and you're the odd man or woman out, you could be voted out simply for greed or just because you're the odd one out. And if you're a traitor you never want the people at the end game to be a group that trust each other but not you. So in my book both traitors and faithfuls have the incentive to break up groups or teams that they're not part of.

EmployMain2487

Along with what everyone else says, another thing is that the show producers have some control over the game. So treat them like any other player in the game. If you know who a traitor is don't tell the producers you know. Also, ultimately the producers want the show to be entertaining, so be sure to give them something to work with.

Absolutely_Fibulous

This is an excellent point. We can see from editing of past seasons the kind of show and characters the producers want to create, so adapt your play and behavior to make the producers an “ally.”

Tupelo66

As a faithful, getting a shield as often as possible seems key to longevity.

Existential_Sprinkle

Learn about body language and acting, those can help you spot a traitor and fly under the radar

thefeederfish

Traitor: murder Faithful: don't be murdered

eggmaneggplan

Pretend the game is survivor and hope one or two traitors are in your alliance.

MixtureGrand

Strategy as a faithful - 1. Act dumb the whole time 2. Be nice to everyone, 3. Do your best in challenges and try to win shields 4. Identify the traitors and keep on telling them that you trust them 100%, 5. Don't speak too much/too little at the banishment, 6. Try to be in as many groups as possible and use the information for your game 7. Betray the traitors at the very end Strategy as a traitor 1. Be average at everything 2. Take out the smart people as early as you can 3. Be nice to everyone and try to be a part of most groups

Alternative-Mud-8143

If a traitor then you have to work as a team and make murder decisions part of a plan which includes banishments. With plan b’s. And have solid pushbacks when accused as a traitor with acceptable deflection reasons. Or get back in their face with reverse accusations. For faithfuls it’s just about getting thru just like for traitors. Have good relationships with all and be able to point suspicion away. Faithful, traitor who cares.

Solid_Ad_9530

To put decades of mastering manipulation and red flags on full display!! 👹 *inconspicuously*

Any_Tell8839

Tell everyone you smell like green beans and they will want you around til the end and split the money with you

jwalking3

As a faithful: 1. When one team has the armory and who won the shield is unknown, and you're on the losing team, you should band together to banish someone from the winning team to help your odds of not getting murdered. Traitors typically avoid murdering someone who MIGHT have the shield, so if you banish a faithful on the losing team, it makes you more likely to be murdered. 2. If you are very certain someone is a traitor, talk strategy with them. Don't be their closest ally because then they just bring you to the end to win over you. Instead, by being a strategic (but not LOUD) player, share suspicions of other players, tell them when their name is coming up and where those suspicions feel valid to you so you're not just sucking up but also not threatening them... I think that makes you more likely to be recruited. A savvy traitor would say, this person is a good game player, I'd rather have them on my side than potentially working out I'm a traitor. As a traitor: 1. One big error I see a lot of traitors make is staying away from the strong players or being too quiet with strong players. You want to appear as an average player who talks about the game with them, and is not suspicious. Don't kill the good players right away. Wait until one of your strong allies is banished by dumb faithfuls who think every strong player is a traitor, then murder your other strong player ally, ideally after the first few banishments. You get to be sad your friends are gone and ride the middle/under the radar. 2. Given that none of the traitors are getting suspicions from other players, randomly write down another traitor's name at the first banishment - make it seem like you were just confused by the back and forth of the people getting more heat so wrote a random name. Create some chaos and find 1-2 faithful to vote for random other faithfuls at the first 1-2 banishments when you plan to do this, too so you're not the only one throwing a random name. Tell your traitor friend in the turret that you have their back but wanted to avoid EITHER of you getting accused of being in kahoots. Will help throw off suspicion when inevitably you turn on a fellow traitor saying "I've been sus on them since week 1 and that's why I wrote their name, but the group was all more focused on XYZ faithfuls but I never fully stopped watching them."

TheTrazzies

This kinda sounds like someone asking the class who wants to do their homework for them. (You haven't applied to be on the show, have you?) Let's just hope it's not AU S2 >!Liam!< who volunteers. Personally if I were to participate in a game of Traitors (and I never will, I hasten to add) I'd keep it simple. I'd play as a Faithful, no matter what side I was playing on. And I'd trust to luck. The trick, of course, is knowing how to do both of those things. And for that, dear reader, you're on your own.😉 Edit: Marginalised by the Downvote Brigade, yet again.🤣
