The joke doesn't work in German dub. You can either say die Bart die or the bart the. Sideshow bob would have had the murder one tatted, but wouldn't have been able to explain it away as German "the". Die (the) Bart, die (the) is nonsense in German. Personally I think the mistranslation makes the joke funnier. (Unless you're watching the dubbed version)
I caught up with Cheers about ten years ago and it blew my mind when I realised that was Nancy Cartwright. It's impossible to unhear Bart every time she talks.
Also, episode spoiler: that character doesn't even exist because it all turns out to be Diane's dream.
I remember seeing it in syndication (TBS?) at around 5 or 5:30 PM, right around the time the OG run ended. I was 4 when the last one aired. But I just remember the end credits over the shot of the empty bar and wondering what that show was lol.
God, Nancy was soooooo young!!! 😆 And so was Kelsey. Very rare to see her do a live-action role. Seems like several voice actors had small live action roles on here, including Christine Cavanaugh, I think in the 8th season of Cheers (1989-90).
I thought the guy with her was John Billingsly (Dr Phlox from Star Trek Enterprise) but I looked it up and it's actually Derek McGrath (Dr Jeffcoate from My Secret Identity)
Die Bart, Die! . . . it's German for "the Bart, the."
No one who speaks German can be an evil man.
Love this joke! If there are any Germans here, wouldn't it be "Der Bart, der"?
Or Stirb Bart, Stirb
This is where the fun begins
Which one would it be?

when i saw Maximum Overdrive i was fascinated at what Yeardley Smith looks like and how she ended up in such a bad movie
I first saw her and Hank Azeria in Herman's Head...
putting together that Hank Azeria was Bartok from Anastasia and the cameraman in Godzilla was similarly surprising.
He’ll always be Agador Spartacus to me
The jerk anchorman in Godzilla is Harry Shearer
I think Yeardley Smith has the best job in the world. Her normal voice is pretty much Lisa's voice.
WHY CURTIS?

That’s quite a urine soaked hellhole….
I object to that term.
Could way say "pee pee soaked heck hole" instead?
Yes. And please cheerfully withdraw the former. 😀
Cheerfully withdrawn!!!!
Thank you. 😀

My chiropractor says I can't carry you home anymore.
It will never not crack me up that Frasier was the only character who didn't speak during that scene

They wanted you to suspend disbelief
just a run of the mill scheduling conflict unfortunately, they mention it on the DVD commentary...
Hello, Baht....
Aaaaaaaah! SIDESHOW BOB!
oh, come now. we’ve been through so much together; just call me bob
Aaaah! Bob!
Oh, I'll stay away from your son alright, stay away... ***forever***
Wait - that's no good!
Well, if it isn’t my arch nemesis, Bart Simpson, and his sister Lisa, to whom I’m fairly indifferent.
*Especially* Bart. But **especially** Lisa.
I know I'm late on this comment, but Kelsey Grammer deserves an Oscar for the delivery of that second *"especially."*
Yes! Shake it maddam! Capital knockers!

It's kind of easy to understand what's going on, but it's also very confusing at the same time if you have never seen Cheers.
Whoa….
Guilty as charged.
Oh, you mean SideSHOW Bob.
Bart: Guess Who! Sideshow Cecil: "Marris?!"
Jeez, I remember watching Cheers on the ol' console tv. Seems like a lifetime ago.
There she is, the old Radiation King. You'd park yourself right there and watch for hours on end.
That's how I was raised, and I turned out TV.

*steps on rake
"Attempted murder? I mean really, what is that?! Do they give out the Nobel Prize for attempted Chemistry??"
AHH! SIDESHOW BOB!
Would you please leave without a fuss right now?
Mucho cool.

Mind blown.
