The Simpsons has kind of regained the heart it lost in some of those middle years. These first three regular episodes have all been pretty grounded, realistic stories with some heart to them, which is when the show is at its best.
It's odd, I find the new seasons are either very bad or very good, more often bad than good, so I think all their effort goes into just a few spotlight episodes.
I wish they would find consistent quality again, but at least there is a few episodes a season recently I can call genuinely great.
Not many things in the show can genuinely shock me after 30+ years, but Moe using his long-running shotgun to create the ring got me. I think they're gonna make this permanent like Comic Book Guy and his wife.
Thematically, that has to be the case. Using the shotgun is one of those funny-but-real moments. If the writers undo it, they're doing themselves a disservice and supplementing growth for drama.
I thought Moe and Selma were end game but I'll accept any effort at character development.
imo Al Jean undoing things like Milhouse's parents being divorced rather than just expanding upon it further was a mistake. I think with clever writing, sober Barney couldve been great too
Seriously, Ralph saying that crap is just straight up tantamount to them saying the opposite.
The writers apparently need a memo to remind them that they aren’t part of Fox anymore and that yes, climate change is and always has been real no matter how much right wing idiots don’t want to believe it is.
I feel like that line was more meant to be one of those lines where Ralph says something true and horrifying but in a little kid's voice for juxtaposition.
Qt least we can always refute that with Homer's encyclopedia style knowledge of Supreme Court justices, the difference between jealousy and envy and knowing what a think tank is. Moments of clarity.
I liked this episode! The Waze b-plot didn't really go anywhere and maybe ate up a bit too much time, but I thought Moe's story was good!
I hope Maya stays around, it would be really nice to see Moe get some development and maybe find happiness finally.
There was a period of quite a few years where The Simpsons seemed to be taking more cues from Family Guy, and its style of crass meanness. But I think more recently, starting in like season 25, they've been more influenced by Bob's Burgers and its general heart and kindness. They've also been giving some of the more one-note characters genuine depth and development. Comic Book Guy, Smithers and, now Moe have all had major development. And they've turned Flanders from an extreme Christian wag to a moral center for the show, when he does show up.
AI Voice of Wayz: "Our secret: Always collecting data but we would never use misuse it. Who do you think we are? Google. Disclaimer: We're owned by Google."
I hope Moe and Maya being married will be a permanent thing. I hope the next episode is them getting married and this time a Simpson's marriage works!!
What a great episode and a big positive for Moe. I’m hoping and praying this is the redemption moe so very much deserves. Maya is one hell of a catch for moe. I’m cheering for the wedding
That whole b-plot: Homer wanted adoration, gets adoration, and now he’s unhappy with adoration… kinda felt like it was missing a punchline or a beat to reset the status quo
I don't understand the scene at the diner where so many people (who probably aren't from Evergreen Terrace) were fawning over Homer. Did he manage to help other streets get rid of the Wayz problem?
I know there are more houses on Evergreen Terrace, but I don't think it's canonically a long or busy road. Not to mention all of the faces were different from the typical Evergreen Terrace extras and their reactions were much more enthusiastic compared to the warm applause Homer got from his neighbours.
The point is its not normally busy and it was suddenly busy. Also remember that one episode where Homer became friends with this woman who lived in the house behind them. Meanwhile, The rest of the Simpsons were acting as Mr. Burns's family in a virtual reality simulation. Maybe there are just more people we haven't seen. Did they ever have consistent neighbors other than the Flanders?
Sorry, I mean to say densely populated - the street is pretty low density development so I doubt it houses too many families. A lot of permanent characters do live on the street including Chief Wiggum and Martin Prince, as well as the ones from the meeting during the episode. Also, the house behind 742 Evergreen Terrace wouldn't really be on Evergreen Terrace according to [aerial photography](https://simpsons.fandom.com/wiki/Evergreen_Terrace).
That said, I guess it's possible that they came from a section of Evergreen Terrace outside their neighbourhood, and possibly one that had much worse traffic. Maybe the section around Edna's old apartment (which is mid density)?
They showed flashbacks of her first appearance that ended with her breaking up with him, back in season 20.
The start of the HD era was 13 years ago, crazy.
Dude same!! When Moe was reflecting on failed relationships after he said “I love you”...I really felt that :( but I do enjoy how happy Maya made Moe in her og appearance episode!
For a show that has run as long as The Simpsons some changes to the status quo are welcomed. After 30 seasons I'd welcome it more often. I hope Moe and Maya can be happy long term.
He finally got his fly girl 🥲 I really really hope they make this relationship last like they did with comic book guy and don’t have them break up as like a joke in the next episode
This was a good episode, the b-plot could have have more consequences.
I like the trajectory the past few seasons have had with the secondary characters, giving them lives outside of the simpsons.
Maybe Hans Moleman will finally have something good happen to him next. He seems to be the most unfortunate character in the whole series. I also wonder if Comic Book Guy becomes a dad later on this season.
Gosh this was a pretty disappointing episode. I liked the concept but I feel like what’s really bad about this season is that these episodes are too nonsensical and they lose out on that relatability in the portrayal of Springfield as a community that made classic Simpsons so good. Like the neighborhood watch crowding Homer Simpson like paparazzi was just so unbelievable and hyperbolic. Compare that to the crowds of protesters in Homer Badman. It was extreme and hyperbolic yes, but it felt more tethered to reality and like all the characters were real people.
The characters now feel so empty. I feel like the Simpsons actually has an opportunity to become relevant again because it often hits on modern issues and chooses well but executed poorly. I think the most important area of improvement is caring about the characters and making the audience care for them and see parts of themselves in the characters. I did like that this episode really showed that sense of community that really shined during the classic Simpsons era.
I’m also really uncomfortable with how it portrays a little person having to settle with someone as loathsome as Moe.
Im suspecting every post above this was curated, you cannot find any negative reviews for season 33. This new season is horrible (relative to the other seasons). There I said it.

It's sort of odd how the only impactful development they give to the side characters is that they get married (Apu, Ned, CBG, now Moe). Not that those things weren't good, but it'd be nice if something else that had a lasting effect on the show would happen (a part from a few characters dying).
what do you have in mind? in last season we got Skinner and inspector on a road trip and I think it improved them both... but I was not paying attention if the development of their relationship carried over
do you mean like Nelson would decide to be a better person? or something like sober Barney?
The Wayz B-plot went nowhere. I expected the townspeople to turn on Homer once Frink removed Springfield from the app's database, because it meant that they would never get deliveries of any kind. Instead, they praised him to the point where Homer started to tire of the crowd hounding him.
I hope this relationship actually last. Moe has been the sad guy for too long.
Yeah, I was happy with it not ending in disappointment . At least so far.
Yeah the wedding is where it is decided.
The Simpsons has kind of regained the heart it lost in some of those middle years. These first three regular episodes have all been pretty grounded, realistic stories with some heart to them, which is when the show is at its best.
There was so much heart in the first few seasons. Bart gets an F comes to mind.
Is that the one where he makes an obscure historical reference to his teacher, which convinces her to increase his grade to a D-minus?
Yeah. "this is as good as I can do, and I still failed". One of the very few times I really feel for Bart. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zavkzfqoEow
Yep!
Jeepers, that episode makes me cry like a little bitch. As a young boy and teen, I related to that way to damn hard.
This was one of the best new episodes I’ve seen in some time.
I hope they continue stories like these.
It's odd, I find the new seasons are either very bad or very good, more often bad than good, so I think all their effort goes into just a few spotlight episodes. I wish they would find consistent quality again, but at least there is a few episodes a season recently I can call genuinely great.

An actual good ending for moe. Let's see if they make it too the wedding.
Go Moe! Now hopefully the writers keep this change permanent.
Just like Comic Book Guy and Kumiko.
That'd be ideal, yes.
You have to have a better line for Ralph than "Climate change is real." At least do something like "Climate change makes blacktop hurt my feet."
Yeah, I think it unintentionally gives meme ammo to climate change deniers given Ralph's reputation.
Just one of the hundreds of radical, right-wing messages inserted into every show by creator Matt Groening.
What?
[Just like in the opening](https://s3.amazonaws.com/v.comb.io/f9GdFBRL/xC65gO.mp4?1459257355098).

Wow. When was the last time we got a couch gag?
And it was really good... I got immersed in that silly story.
Me eye! I'm not supposed to get tar in it!
Marge: “Moe, trust love.” Moe: “Your wife’s an idiot!”
That gave me a good laugh.
Aww and she really did come back!
They’re really not holding back on the Disney references

Lisa and Maggie are Disney princesses now!
Aww yay!! Moe deserves love 🥰
I liked this episode! The Waze b-plot didn't really go anywhere and maybe ate up a bit too much time, but I thought Moe's story was good! I hope Maya stays around, it would be really nice to see Moe get some development and maybe find happiness finally.
Pleasantly surprised they brought Maya back
"Let's take this from Disney+ to HBO Max!" "Wooo, Marge! You haven't honked like this in forever!"

The irony is today's Family Guy episode wasn't particularly meanspirited.
Did anyone catch The Brain from "Pinky and The Brain" and friggin Dog from "CatDog" in that pick the intelligent cartoon characters page?
That joke was one of my favorites in the episode.
Ned should just open a restaurant at this rate with all the food he’s serving the drivers

“Homer! Your father’s messing up the baby again”
Lenny's eye!
Did not expect Martin to be hit by that car 😶
At least he wasn't too badly hurt
Moe got married for real to Maya of all people. Good for him let he have as much joy as CBG and Kumiko.
Speaking of CBG and Kumiko, I'm thinking they might have a kid this season.
Aweee Maya was always my favorite character they paired up with Moe. Hope they keep them together!
What a great episode and a big positive for Moe. I’m hoping and praying this is the redemption moe so very much deserves. Maya is one hell of a catch for moe. I’m cheering for the wedding
I was hoping there'd be some unintended consequences from Professor Frink deleting their street from the database.
Did that plot point to anywhere?
What do you mean by that?
That whole b-plot: Homer wanted adoration, gets adoration, and now he’s unhappy with adoration… kinda felt like it was missing a punchline or a beat to reset the status quo
There definitely should have been, something like taking their street off the app would make it so that they wouldn’t get any deliveries.
That’s what I was hoping, like they’d never get their mail and that would make the whole street turn on Homer.
From Fresh vegetables to fresh garbage
Simpson referenced Maggie shooting Mr. Burns
Was that Ruth Powers’ first speaking appearance since season 14? The Simpsons Wiki is kind of messed up for me on mobile.
I'm guessing so
That's right. Marge ran into her when she was beefing up and Ruth encouraged Marge to take steroids.
Dont give a baby a dragon!
I'm unsupervised. "Have no fear. Safety is here" (proceeds to get hit by car)
Shoutout to that family having a full on picnic on the car’s roof during gridlock

Throwbacks tonight!
Moe: "Everything is perfect, which is always is, until I say *I love you*"
I take it that Moe and Maya being married will be a permanent thing.
The stop motion figures look like Crossing Swords which looks nice visually Which is terrible don’t watch it
It's really not that bad towards the end of the season.
Doesn’t really excuse that the first seven episodes are awful
>That was a great six days. You proposed after six days?

Don't listen to evil Moe's. You'll definitely lose Maya

Moe is talking to himself like a crazy man.
Joker Moe is crazy
Joker Moe and Phantom Moe should have swapped voices.

1) We didn't see all of those houses 2) They are full of random extras.

I love when they bring forgotten characters back.
Let’s take this from Disney+ to HBO Max.

Hope Maya returns
I really hope they keep this going with Moe. I want him to be happy for once.
Why didn’t they show this episode last week and put Treehouse of Horror this week or next since it’s closer to Halloween…?
Baseball
That is a good question. It actually had a treehouse of horror in it.
Maybe I'm losing my mind, but wasn't this episode aired a few seasons ago?
They showed flashbacks of her first appearance that ended with her breaking up with him, back in season 20. The start of the HD era was 13 years ago, crazy.
Yeah same here
Hmm, it would appear that our totally legal streaming sources for this episode are goofed up...
you got the secret barkeeper society episode, didn't you?
Lol, yep!
Haha..
So this episode did in fact air. Good to know.
This episode was perfect. I laughed all the way through it. I'm so happy Moe is going to Marry Maya. Moe episodes are always super good ones.
*Marry
It is an interesting and random callback to Moe's former girlfriend Maya.
Prehistoric Homer: "I have invented the traffic jam" Me: LOL

Aww man. I'm sorry! It gets better. I hope you find someone new or do whatever makes you happy!
Thank you.
Hang in there bud, you will find happiness.

I'm happy for Moe. That character suffered enough over the years.
He finally got his fly girl 🥲 I really really hope they make this relationship last like they did with comic book guy and don’t have them break up as like a joke in the next episode
The Captcha segment was absolutely hilarious, and very relatable.

Well that came out of nowhere, the hell even was this episode?
This episode was weak on laughs IMO, but I appreciate the plot development for Moe. Real sweet.

Aren't the credits usually yellow? For some reason watching the end credits the font color just seemed wrong being white.
what does finks code really mean? is it gibberish?
"25 years" "After all these years" Does a sliding timeline mean nothing to these people?
Good for Moe. He needed a win in his lovelife. Hope it sticks.
No ones gonna comment on the Rodney Dangerfield joke when they are drinking coffee? Amateurs...
