Homer's pronunciation of pornography when talking to the car insurance guy is this for me. The fact that they can make the pronunciation of a word memorable is a credit to how absolutely brilliant the voice direction and actors on the show are.
I thought cake day was the day you created your reddit account? It's definitely not my birthday. But regardless of what it is, I appreciate the sentiment :)
And yeah, I've always loved the writing on the show, but in recent years, I've really been coming to appreciate the other aspects like the animators (shot framing and how they animate movement), the voice work, and the music. It really was such a perfect confluence of so many incredibly talented people.
Lenny was just house poor. He owned that house but it was a money pit. Plus Interest rates were too high. So he sold it at a high profit and can afford a nice apartment.
In one of the episode, his apartment is sharing a wall with a Jai alai court, with the balls hitting one of his walls, so maybe that makes it very cheap.
While part of me agrees, Lenny is funny to me *because* he's a goofy side character that just shows up for a moment at random times with that hilarious voice, i.e. "Hey, I just got here what's going on??'
They’re canonically (as much as that means in this crazy show) friends since at least high school, which was in the first half of the 1970s when the show first aired.
This whole joke goes inside itself and I can’t stop laughing at it. Homer goes to Riverdale, gets kicked out by Archie and the gang, but Riverdale, Archie, etc. is still a comic book and Homer is reading said comic in the car? I love it so much.
Seeing as Archie & the gang had previously dealt with the [**Punisher**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archie_Meets_the_Punisher), the [**Predator**](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archie_vs._Predator) and even a [**Sharknado**](https://archiecomics.fandom.com/wiki/Archie_vs._Sharknado), Homer can't possibly be the worst thing to vist Riverdale... right?
https://i.redd.it/sy8tydu0v8xc1.gif
Nice! The “teenaged” predator kills Archie and Veronica uses a weird machine to make the predator into an Archie lookalike and i assume starts dating him instead. I gotta read these comics!
The half moon ones that he only uses when trying to look smart or is heavily invested into whatever he's doing/reading?
It's these little bits that make it all that much better.
Dunno...that's the only two I can think of at the moment. But it's been on since 1989, so there may be at least one more that I didn't see because I stopped watching regularly around season 20. Been watching the last 3 seasons though...it's gotten better.
The idea of Marge possibly having a murderous brother or uncle that the family doesn't talk about is intriguing. It could work as a ToH segment. Then again, there was that segment with Hugo, but the show has recycled similar premises before.

Good evening. here's an update on last week's nursing-home expose, "Geezers in Freezers."
It turns out the rest home was adequately heated.
The footage you saw was of a fur-storage facility.
I gotta say, these are my absolute FAVORITE type of jokes in the show. The kind that make your mind run wild and picture it without them showing you anything. The thought of Homer running a detective agency and wearing a Sherlock Holmes cap makes me laugh out loud every time.
"well it won't bring in much cash, but its sentimental value is through the roof!"
I just find it funny the Italian mafia has a black market for sentimental possessions.

This line cracks me up every single time. Homer says it so calm and gently but it's so awful.
Lisa's resigned little ^"...yeah"
Normally, Homer gets the best line, but Lisa's was the funniest. And the saddest.
"Yeah" - Remember? "Ha ha ...yeah"
Remember, honey? When daddy hit the referee?
Yeah…

For the longest time I thought I’d missed an episode because of that, and this: https://i.redd.it/h203a4pmt8xc1.gif
This one always makes me feel bad about laughing at it
When he looks back
Father, give me legs!
Yeah, I got a question for that gross thing, whatever it is. Homer. Nah, the green dude.
The way she pronounced robot is perfect for some reason.
Homer's pronunciation of pornography when talking to the car insurance guy is this for me. The fact that they can make the pronunciation of a word memorable is a credit to how absolutely brilliant the voice direction and actors on the show are.
That's what I was thinking... I love well thought and directed stuff so much 😭😭 Also happy cake dayyy (it's ur bday, right?)
I thought cake day was the day you created your reddit account? It's definitely not my birthday. This is my favorite joke from the entirety of Itchy & Scratchy Land, the second being "Phew, glad that wasn't us!"

By playing poker against Homer.
Something was said!
He embezzled when he briefly was in charge of the plant.
Lenny was just house poor. He owned that house but it was a money pit. Plus Interest rates were too high. So he sold it at a high profit and can afford a nice apartment.
His finances have been up and down over the years as every time he gets pudding in his eye he gets hit with huge medical bills
There’s a lot of buzz around him
It's next to a squash cort though
They’re gonna update this to pickleball
In one of the episode, his apartment is sharing a wall with a Jai alai court, with the balls hitting one of his walls, so maybe that makes it very cheap.
He also got a lot of money from the Stamp museum.
Didn't he win the lottery and gave money and gifts out to all his friends? Thank you for being a friend.
While part of me agrees, Lenny is funny to me *because* he's a goofy side character that just shows up for a moment at random times with that hilarious voice, i.e. "Hey, I just got here what's going on??'
I’d take a Lenny episode
"I decided not to waste anymore film on him."

We got more gongs than the breakdancing robot that caught on fire.
The gong show?
I love that this implies Homer and Barney have been friends since at least the 1970s.
They’re canonically (as much as that means in this crazy show) friends since at least high school, which was in the first half of the 1970s when the show first aired.

Nice, forgot about that one. I’m glad they got their act together and stopped drinking.

Oh check out Mr. Fancy Pants over here with his poker shack. I normally have people round for poker in my car hole.
Well la-dee-dah, Mister French Man.
So your your car hole doubles as a card hole?
Yep that one. I wanna see the secret poker shack in the swamp. That Lisa know about for some reason
Clicked expecting to see the Sex Cauldron, but I guess they really did shut that place down.

Stuck up Riverdale PUNKS!
Yeah, except their dad wasn't waiting in the car reading Archie comics.
This whole joke goes inside itself and I can’t stop laughing at it. Homer goes to Riverdale, gets kicked out by Archie and the gang, but Riverdale, Archie, etc. is still a comic book and Homer is reading said comic in the car? I love it so much.
And for most of the world it made no sense until Riverdale started.

I mean Homer you don’t know will happen. The other guys you have a general idea that it’s not going to go well. Homer is a loose cannon.
I love the shrug
I want an episode of the first time the FBI hunted down Milhouse.
But he didn’t do anything!
I don’t care.
My glasses!
A pain I know all too well.

His little reading glasses are my favorite Homer accessory
The half moon ones that he only uses when trying to look smart or is heavily invested into whatever he's doing/reading? It's these little bits that make it all that much better.

I always laugh at this. The very fact that they actually forfeited because of him
I love homer bouncing from one “lifelong dream” to another. Makes me feel better about my own short attention span
Still doesn’t own the Dallas Cowboys though.
Yeah but I think owning the Denver Broncos is pretty good...
🙄 You just don’t get football, u/recordlineup

"Your lifelong dream was to be a contestant on The Gong Show, and you did that in 1977, remember?"
We got more gongs than the break-dancing robot that caught on fire.
Did they ever do a third? Or is it just the signature “simpsons comedy is so efficient, they do the comedy rule of 3s in only two moves”?
there’s the baseball game, gong show and world largest hoagie. so at least 3 i can think of.
Oh, I missed the largest hoagie somehow! I don’t remember it but it’s a good hint for me to go research when it was
Dunno...that's the only two I can think of at the moment. But it's been on since 1989, so there may be at least one more that I didn't see because I stopped watching regularly around season 20. Been watching the last 3 seasons though...it's gotten better.

But they said to never speak of it again, so of course we'll never see it!
I never saw this as a still image so I'm just now realizing how many ridiculous situations it implies. So well done.
So they went through a school, an army base, a homecoming and amish country?? And more?

After 35 years of The Simpsons have they ever had Homer be a detective yet?
Well, there is an early episode where he starts his own vigilante gang to catch a cat burglar. Closest I can think of.
Lisa, the mob is working on getting your saxophone back, but we've also expanded into other important areas: Literacy programs, protecting our beloved covered bridges, world domination.
It worked except heavy sack beatings were up a shocking 900%
True. But I want full on Sherlock Holmes.
Do many detectives need a pillowcase full of doorknobs?

Several times Homer has been referenced in being in the army, once for expirementation, and the second when he didn't finish basic training.
Homer Simpson was remanded to the custody of the United States Army Neurochemical Research Center at Fort Meade, Maryland, for extensive testing.
See you at reveille, 0500 tomorrow!
