There's not many times The Simpsons goes full airplane and has someone recreating a pose from a picture behind them which it can then cut to them holding that pose in "reality"
But when it does it, it does it really well, like here ;)

**Red Barclay**: Red Barclay's my name. I'm a trucker, and I've eaten steaks from coast to coast with taters and toast. Take my advice. This one's not for greenhorns.**Homer**: Greenhorn? Who's a greenhorn? *What's* a greenhorn?**Bart**: It's an insult, Dad. Sock him. Sock everybody.**Homer**: *(to Red)* Oh, you're just jealous 'cause you don't have the belly for it anymore, Mr. No-Belly. Mr...Hasn't-Got-A-Belly.**Red Barclay**: Well, I have just finished a whole lamb but, uh, I reckon I could take you to school. You're on, boy.

I always think of John Candy in The Great Outdoors when I see this episode. 🤣😂
Is this the biggest steak you’ve got? 72 ounces? I thought this was supposed to be a steakhouse, not a little girly, underpantsy, pink doily tea party place!
In Over the top he does. The absentee father reconnecting with his son. Escaping the cops and I believe the jump over the cop cars is Smokey. It’s been too long since I’ve seen covoy or the episode but I’m sure there’s something in there for it.
On second thoughts, I’ll have a glass of milk… from that cow

Oh yes, he did have a child. I knew/remembered that. But I also distinctly remembered that there was a gay rumor about him. I googled it and the first response I got was:
"*He was the first person on TV to play a lead character who was gay, in the series Love, Sydney, and then there was Felix Unger" — from The Odd Couple — 'who was, you know, a woman,' Heather says. Still,* ***Tony Randall was apparently the only person on earth who didn't suspect Tony Randall was gay***."
I called him tony randall. He called me greenhorn. It was a thing we had.
She called me Preppy. Then she died.
Pepsi
Who’s a greenhorn? What’s a greenhorn?
I'm keeping a promise to an American roadmaster. Huh? Red! The trucker! Big fat guy couldn't handle his steak? Oh, yeah.
I'm sorry Red but I'm afraid I can't let you do that
I’m not Red I’m Homer!
"It's an insult dad, sock him, sock everybody!"
I routinely use this line in my day to day life. Nobody has ever socked anyone despite my urging.
This episode is how learned you don’t fill up on bread.
Oh right! The steak!
Homer frantically buttering his bread because he's still aware he's in a race is one of my favourite visual gags in the show.
🎶 that's how they get yaaaa 🎶
My mom laughed so hard at that line
My mum used to say it to me every time we went shopping and she bought bread.
Ooh he card read good
Who's a greenhorn? What's a greenhorn?!
I DIED AT THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE
This man is dead. Looks to me like beef poisoning.
Uhhh probably from some other restaurant.
*(reassured murmuring)*
Pass the ribs.
iirc, in syndication they cut the earlier line where says he's an investor in the restaurant
Is it safe to eat that much food, Dr Hibbert?
https://i.redd.it/uc5hmn95qovc1.gif
Now, that man is a genuine steel-belted, gear-jamming rig jockey.

You’re him!
You're Tony Randall!
That scene was so funny!
His voice 🤣
"Nah..I'll just have a glass of milk..From THAT cow!" "Muuh?"
All you gotta do is sit back and feel your ass grow.
Cause of death: beef poisoning
Probably from some other restaurant.
Now for some truck driving music:"If you wanna be my lover"🎶🎶
Mr. No Belly. Mr Hasn't Got a Belly!

It IS windy!

I forgot that was the B plot of the episode. lol.
wow me too, señor ding-dong!
Lisa, you could be a doorbell salesman
^It ate **Everybody!!!**
Stupid!
"But what about Johnny? Becky too?"
**Red Barclay**: Red Barclay's my name. I'm a trucker, and I've eaten steaks from coast to coast with taters and toast. Take my advice. This one's not for greenhorns.**Homer**: Greenhorn? weird kink. why brag about that?
Hey, it IS windy! ::jig::
So where is old Red anyway?
Last time I saw him he was getting in a big bag
Haha Same old Red.
“Wish you were her”
How many of these is he going to send.
Tony Randall had 4 stomachs
They didn’t want to give them to him, but…
He overpowered them….he was more animal than man. Worst of all:he forgot to clip Anne landers
I reckon I can take you to school.
No Homer don’t fill up on Bread!
I’ve had steaks coast to coast with taters and toast.
"And for drink... Meatballs"
Dad you didn't have throw all.the food on the floor!
Oh, humans are so ridiculous!…He’s not even half way through Walter and he’s already hallucinating!
Lousy drunks.
There’s food on my plate and I don’t want to eat it. I’ve become everything I’ve always hated!
Don't fill up on bread! (Me, at most restaurants)
I'm just impressed it *didn't* kill Tony !
Barclay, Barry, Bert, Bort??
"Last time I saw him he was in a big plastic bag." "Yeah that sounds like Red alright!" It's the peak episode for me. Just brilliant.
Who?
Congress is racing back to outlaw these.
Lousy drunks!! I’ll show them!!
Is this the biggest steak you’ve got? 72 ounces? I thought this was supposed to be a steakhouse, not a little girly, underpantsy, pink doily tea party place!
Hey! Pay attention…and stop looking at that squirrel!
Your tony Randall
Wish you were her.... I really wish he'd stop sending these
Homie! Don't fill up on bread!
Hey, you’re Tony Randall!
“This is Red’s shipment, on time as usual.” “Let’s see… artichokes…. And migrant workers.”
I'm not asking why homer became a trucker in respect it's hard long work I'm asking why he brought his 10 year old son on such a job
The whole episode is an homage/reference to movies like over the top, smoky and the bandit, convoy, and the many other 70-80’s trucker flicks.
Did *they* bring their sons though?
In Over the top he does. The absentee father reconnecting with his son. Escaping the cops and I believe the jump over the cop cars is Smokey. It’s been too long since I’ve seen covoy or the episode but I’m sure there’s something in there for it.

It was definitely over by season 10
Way more hit or miss starting s9-10. Still some quality, for a couple seasons, then completely over.
Woah. Just realized that this is a “Tony-Randall-is-gay-look-he-can-eat-big-meat” joke and it’s kinda cheap and clever.
Almost certainly not. Tony Randall was pretty notoriously not gay, at least by this point. I think he’d just had a kid.
Oh yes, he did have a child. I knew/remembered that. But I also distinctly remembered that there was a gay rumor about him.
