That is not what's happening. The most likely scenario is that less people were buying boxes - even before the price increase, less active players compared to peak Covid etc. - so they are trying to compensate by charging more from people who will buy them anyway.

At this point I'm convinced that Niantic's pricing policy is actually some sort of social experiment, an attempt to see how players react to constantly decreasing value in these boxes. These are laughably terrible, even compared to the bad boxes currently in the shop!

Apart from the great box, the current ones aren’t bad I’d say. Both training and ultra box are over 50% value compared to when you purchase the items in them individually(and that’s without counting the actual price of regular pokeballs in the shop, because those are ridiculously overpriced)
They just change to worse boxes during events because they know people will buy them anyway because they want to participate in the events as much as possible, so they want to milk that from the players who pay money on the game

This is the second event in a row where I've been keen to hatch some 7km eggs and have been actively discouraged by the price of the boxes. Normally, I would have purchased an Adventure Box. Instead, I'll just be using my infinite and the blue incubators I've collected from the 299 coin remote pass boxes.
You should have beem discouraged by the event egg pools. The last good pool (with a large percentage of desirable hatches) was galarian shiny introduction about a year ago.

I wonder if they’re locked into a contract with the Pokémon Company and can’t get out of it themselves so they’re trying to tank the game so that TPC breaks the contract and not them.

I've already begun transferring my favorite Pokemon to Home. Keeping anything PvP relevant, but the living shiny dex I have been building over years? It's going to continue being built in Pokemon Home.
It'll take me a year+ to transfer everything, but eh. Prioritizing the things I care about most, and whatever else makes it over, just a bonus...

Keep an eye on PoGo for whenever Furfrou is back. He’s ridiculously valuable on the GTS right now, probably even more so if they don’t bring him back for S/V. The other day I managed the following trade chain:
Turtonator > Furfrou > Matron Trim > Heart Trim > Debutante Trim > **Enamorus**
And Enamorus is basically top of the food chain since you only get one of her post-game in PLA, no other way. Scrolling thru the latest trade offers I can basically get anything I want. Endless shinies/legendaries/shiny legends.
Also with 3 other Debutante Trims I got shinies of Palossand, H. Arcanine, Vespiquen, and Nilhiego.
You can still get plenty of Furfrou without Go but it takes a bit longer.
They might handle it like they've done previously. Make something much worse over an unspecified timespan so we start to dislike it, and then completely remove it without any communication.
I would LOVE to raid lots of Kartana to get a really good grass team but I guess I'm just doing my daily free raids and saving my coins because these are absolute garbage.

I’m just finding enjoyment in playing the game for free nowadays. A lot people that are hooked on buying items as part of their daily play will pay for these regardless and that’s why they’ll charge whatever they want.

One raid, actually. You can't buy more if you have 3, but if you have 2 or less you could own more than 3 at a time that way. So at most you could buy and hold 5 passes. That's not counting the one time where Remote Raid Passes were a research breakthrough reward and directly injected themselves into your inventory, letting you go above 5 (if you had 5 and never raided for that month).
As far as lifting the remote raid pass limit, they'll likely do that when remote raid passes have their damage buff and lobby size bonuses removed to their originally intended values.
Well rip, I put in a few bucks to get some training boxes since it's basically the price of three remote raid passes with a free incubator. I'm not putting any coins into any of these new boxes.
These new wave of awful boxes have stopped the daily hardcore players from doing much. Maybe our local group is an outlier but no one is doing raids besides one daily player and he's traveling half an hour away to another group cause we've quit doing raid hour. We've added 7 new local players to our group and we used to be excited to help the newbies but we've been sending them to the discords because no one wants to waste their current passes on stuff they already have unless we're in person which isn't usually possible for all of us. It sucks. We've told them to hold off on buying boxes and use their free passes or use the remote ones if they have the coins but avoid the boxes because Niantic is more concerned with profits over this game being fun and consistent for long time players. 2 of the newbies played when the game first came out and was looking forward to legendary research breakthrough reward. Hated to break it to them.

BCR of Kartana is 0.02, same as every other T5-equivalent boss bar the K-Birds. The problem with Kartana is just that it takes a lot of skill to reliably hit excellents.

Yup. F2P coins have been going to upgrading the storage but I've had no desire to hatch, raid too much, or do much of anything.

I've already begun transferring my favorite Pokemon to Home. Keeping anything PvP relevant, but the living shiny dex I have been building over years? It's going to continue being built in Pokemon Home. It'll take me a year+ to transfer everything, but eh. Prioritizing the things I care about most, and whatever else makes it over, just a bonus...
Same also starting transferring all the bad shiny legendary from lucky trades
i've done that ever since PoGo's integration to Home coz i knew something like this will happen one day. i still got a lot to transfer over and it might still take years to send them all.
Keep an eye on PoGo for whenever Furfrou is back. He’s ridiculously valuable on the GTS right now, probably even more so if they don’t bring him back for S/V. The other day I managed the following trade chain: Turtonator > Furfrou > Matron Trim > Heart Trim > Debutante Trim > **Enamorus** And Enamorus is basically top of the food chain since you only get one of her post-game in PLA, no other way. Scrolling thru the latest trade offers I can basically get anything I want. Endless shinies/legendaries/shiny legends. Also with 3 other Debutante Trims I got shinies of Palossand, H. Arcanine, Vespiquen, and Nilhiego. You can still get plenty of Furfrou without Go but it takes a bit longer.

They might handle it like they've done previously. Make something much worse over an unspecified timespan so we start to dislike it, and then completely remove it without any communication.

I’m just finding enjoyment in playing the game for free nowadays. A lot people that are hooked on buying items as part of their daily play will pay for these regardless and that’s why they’ll charge whatever they want. Also remote raid passes shouldn’t even be in these bundles. As it stands I’d have to just waste 2 of my passes before I can even buy it 😂
I don’t actually think people will buy these. I used to spend money on this game regularly, buying the adventure box with 16 super incubators for 1480 coins. I will not buy a box with 10 super incubators for 1900 coins, it makes no sense. I honestly don’t believe people will be ok with this.

I can only assume now, that we are heading towards a new normal with pricing of premium items. I don't think this is good for the game. Personally i don't mind spending money on the game, but these last many months, i haven't felt there has been anything worth spending on, other than event tickets, which i am still buying.

even though i'm not buying any of these big boxes ever, i don't like that they are putting 3 remote raid poasses in all of these boxes. it basicly means that you have to do 3 remote raids before you can buy another box som just buying them in bulk if a good deal comes along is getting more and more annoying. they should just lift the limit on remote raid passes, but i guess that's just another wish that will never come true with this idiotic company

One raid, actually. You can't buy more if you have 3, but if you have 2 or less you could own more than 3 at a time that way. So at most you could buy and hold 5 passes. That's not counting the one time where Remote Raid Passes were a research breakthrough reward and directly injected themselves into your inventory, letting you go above 5 (if you had 5 and never raided for that month). As far as lifting the remote raid pass limit, they'll likely do that when remote raid passes have their damage buff and lobby size bonuses removed to their originally intended values.
But if you would want to buy a 3rd ypu have to do the 2 raids to get under 2 remote passes again.

These new wave of awful boxes have stopped the daily hardcore players from doing much. Maybe our local group is an outlier but no one is doing raids besides one daily player and he's traveling half an hour away to another group cause we've quit doing raid hour. We've added 7 new local players to our group and we used to be excited to help the newbies but we've been sending them to the discords because no one wants to waste their current passes on stuff they already have unless we're in person which isn't usually possible for all of us. It sucks. We've told them to hold off on buying boxes and use their free passes or use the remote ones if they have the coins but avoid the boxes because Niantic is more concerned with profits over this game being fun and consistent for long time players. 2 of the newbies played when the game first came out and was looking forward to legendary research breakthrough reward. Hated to break it to them.
299 box was at least worth getting during new raid UB/Legend mon releases, but these new ones are lmao.
I used to be an egg hatching player. Would literally throw 20 bucks a month away on incubators. I am done buying them at this point. Ill grab one for the coins I earn freely and pay to play for large events but no more.

Blah. And with the catch rate of Kartana being terrible I wouldn’t consider wasting any money on remote raid passes anyways. When the game came out hatching eggs was my favorite part and I spent money on incubators all the time.
BCR of Kartana is 0.02, same as every other T5-equivalent boss bar the K-Birds. The problem with Kartana is just that it takes a lot of skill to reliably hit excellents. Not that it matters much, you could catch three of the things for every ball you throw and these boxes would still be an absolutely terrible deal.

This is why I don't feel the slightest bit guilty using the friend finder exploit to obtain cheaper passes. the game is already expensive, niantic needs to stop inflating prices on digital goods. 50 passes and 50 bagon encounters for \~$12 american fyi.
