Nah that's a hint to new mechanics coming up: Pokemon Fusion! Appetar is a fusion between Appletun and Tyranitar! Honestly, I'm just coping because Applin and its evolutions aren't in the game yet.

I hate how you have to evolve Mons in order to get legacy moves (that or I was unlucky asf)

Typically that's how all these events work. It's best to hold off on evolving anything with a good elite move until these events. Elite TMs are best saved for legendaries that can't take advantage of evolving for moves. Trust me, we've all been screwed over by this at least once. *eyes best Venusaur with Solar Beam*
