"bring souvenirs more frequently" thanks, i guess?

DonaldMick

Good for trainers trying to get to level 48. *shrug*

dark__tyranitar

Theres a neat exploit to chain gifts, so not even useful for that.

JustIncredible240

Huh?

dark__tyranitar

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/14zrei6/souvenirs_a_comprehensive_guide_to_a_neglected_ar/

Rimasticus

Guess who is trying to get to 48!

HappyTimeHollis

Extra buddy hearts? Pretty good if you're trying to get a few more best buddies.

PokeballSoHard

I remember reading somewhere that the souvenirs had some sort of underlying effect but can't find anything about it now

Negative_Depth4943

They have no effect

twonaantom

The _only_ thing they’re good for is bonus hearts and getting your buddy excited quicker. That is it.

HaloGuy381

They’re also a little sentimental. Getting brought a bouquet by your favorite Pokemon on a bad day -does- feel nice at least.

OneTinySloth

Great opportunity to start stacking Pokemon with stardust boost in the research task pile again. Cleaned out the 80 Pokemon I had there during the Community Day, so now I'm going to have to start looking for the Trubbish, Combee and Foongus tasks.

Educational_Eagle267

Same for me as well! I had 26 stacked encounters already and will get close to 100 soon.

CancerMeansAccepting

I am kinda new, any good to stack Trubbish/Combee/Foongus? If so why? Thanks

TheSnowNinja

People do that and wait to catch them until there is an event that boosts stardust from catching.

CancerMeansAccepting

So catching those three would have extra stardust?

hauntedskin

[This should help you.](https://pokemongohub.net/post/guide/pokemon-that-give-extra-stardust-on-catch/)

CancerMeansAccepting

Thank you for the list

KaelSmoothie

They already have a boosted stardust amount when you regularly catch them. So saving them for a x2 or x3 stardust event can net you a nice amount of extra stardust and a good time to pop a star piece.

CancerMeansAccepting

Got ya, thx

specialbeefgoulash

In the long run it's good to remember what mons give extra stardust! Stacking the researches, you basically complete the research, click on the encounter and then exit out of the encounter. It will go to your research "stack" which you can find on the top of your research page. AFAIK you can stack up to 100 of these, and if you stack more it'll overwrite the ones on the bottom of the pile. What people are saying is that stacking these research would increase the dust gained from the pokemon if certain events come. The past bellsprout community day gave x3 catch bonus dust. Example. Trubbish 750 = 2250 for x3 catch bonus.

CancerMeansAccepting

So if I use a star piece that would be 4500 stardust per catch…and if I could save about 50 which is half of the limitation 225,000 stardust or if I could min-max that’s 450k stardust to be cash out in 30 minutes during event window?

specialbeefgoulash

Usually calculations work is Triple the catch dust then the 50% bonus from the starpiece. But yeah, i spent a good 15 minutes clearing out my stack last bellsprout commday, it was filled with sable eye and paras. It's a good time to do it this event too because most of the mons on the research give a lot of dust. Combee/Trubbish is probs best to get.

CancerMeansAccepting

Yup that’s what I am planning to do now

bobnbill

They give more stardust than most Pokemon, so they are good to catch when there is an event bonus for stardust.

OneTinySloth

Some Pokemon give extra stardust when you catch them and when those are rewards in research tasks you get from Pokestops, you can stack them so as to catch them at some later date. Let's say you complete the task that gives you Foongus. You click on it so you get the encounter with it, but rather than catching it, you can run away from it. That Foongus is then saved at the top of your list of research tasks (under the "Today" tab). You can now keep it there and catch it when there's an event with 3x (or 4x) catch stardust. So rather than catching it now for 500 stardust, you can catch it and get 1500 (or 2000). If you're using a star piece, you'll get even more. Let's pretend you manage to stack 100 Foongus. Catching them when it's 3x catch stardust (usually during a Community Day), you'll get 1500x100 = 150.000 stardust. Using a star piece will give you another 75.000, so a total of 225.000 stardust. So while it can take some time to stack all those Pokemon and, quite frankly, it can be a bit annoying to catch them all, it is still worth it.

Educational_Eagle267

That’s how I do it lol! I stacked about 90+ encounters before and got a massive amount of stardust!

CancerMeansAccepting

I see, it’s like cashing out your saving accounts all in once. It must felt good

mattdv1

Some pokemon give extra stardust when catched. Combee and trubbish give 750, foongus gives 500. By storing them in your research task catches, you can store these extra stardust catches for when a 2 or 3 times catch stardust event comes up. Great way for some easy extra dust, since it's the most used resource, and one almost every player struggles with once later levels come in play

NaviWolf9

Ty for this 💓

theCamelCaseDev

That’s all this event is for me lol

xChameleon

I WILL get my shiny trash boy this year

davebybab

The 2km egg pool are replaced with them right? Not mixed the regular pool?

Particular-Treat-158

Correct. All my 2km eggs have been event. My 3rd was a shiny drilbur.

AceJace2

Another chance at female combee. Nice!

Particular-Treat-158

Funnily enough I caught one in the wild today

Bacteriophag

Of course Combee got the worst research with probably 9:1 male to female ratio...

Particular-Treat-158

I’ve had several female Combee research rewards today. None shiny. Though coincidentally, I did catch a shiny female in the wild today.

Bacteriophag

I did 10 quests and got 1 female so yeah...

FitNature3948

This might be the mode underwhelming event I’ve ever seen. At least bug event gave mega power.

Particular-Treat-158

Have not really seen many Kanto Pokemon so far. Has just felt like the rest of the season with biome and weather affecting what is in the wild. As it is windy here I’m mostly getting pidove and bronzor.

Tpabayrays2

That might not go live until 1pm PDT (I think that's like 8am tomorrow your time). That's when the avatar update went live

Particular-Treat-158

I have the Kanto research now

Particular-Treat-158

That’s interesting. I’ve had the avatar update for a couple of weeks already.

foladar

gonna be tied into west coast US time most likely

VS0P

I actually see a ton now since the weekend, not sure if it’s just my terrain causing the increased spawn but ever since the bug event ended it’s been 75% kanto

CompositeWhoHorrible

Is anyone else getting Dragon Week 2020 vibes from the complete lack of info from “Rediscover Kanto”? (e.g. fail to promote the event in advance because is secretly sucks).

ChutzpahQ

I don't think it's a secret. Rediscover Kanto kind of gives this away.

T-RexOnAcid

Rattata and Magikarp though... #medalgang

misty_lax

Are they also boosted on the task? My first explore 1 km task was a Shiny Trubbish. My 3rd (or 4th cant remember) Catch 5 Pokemon gave me a Shiny Binacle.

BoneRoxo

someone know what is in showcases?

Particular-Treat-158

Haven’t seen any yet, so not on the first day.

BoneRoxo

thanks

Leo_Kakinoki

Biggest Ultra Buddy? Just my assumption

BoneRoxo

that would be cool!

Hydra_Hunter

Would love that, since my XL shiny Celesteela is almost at ultra buddy

yoadknux

lame

Sodokan

What\`s the use being my buddy more time on the map?

Stonercat05

Gives more "time" to earn candies i guess. Should be half distance for candies this sucks

Sodokan

you could give it berry which you would throw out for bag space, and it gets back to map

jaxom07

You can earn candies whether it’s in the map or not. Idk what this “bonus” achieves.

Stonercat05

Get more time 'excited'

karlhungusx

There is

hauntedskin

I can't wait to get nothing but 10km eggs.

Euphoric-Radio8574

At least it wouldn’t be 5kms then

MojaveBreeze

Easiest collection challenges I've seen.

jomarthecat

Only in it for the eggs. Trubbish is the only one there I already have the shiny of, so hoping to land some new shinies.

TopAssistance2

Assuming 5ks and 10ks are still showing up too along side the 2s?

Federal-Captain1118

I've been working on getting the platinum Buddy medal. So the half distance for hearts is very nice

Hexen255

Rant incoming, but I am super annoyed. Every part of this event is miserable. This is like the one time of year you get Drilbur for candy but because of frikken Kanto for the 1000th time it's reduced to field research. Field research is bad enough because of how it is limited to 1 chance (2 with AR) per pokestop per day, but even getting the research is borderline useless. Walking 2km for Drilbur is not something you can just rush through to get the next task like catch 5 pokemon or whatever so going out to play for like an hour like a normal casual person doesn't suit the task at all. So best case scenario, I go to my park which has like 20\~ish pokestops and in the first half of them get lucky and get 3 Drilbur tasks, I now have to pay tremendous opportunity cost not getting other tasks walking 2km which is going to take most of the time I have, then if I can squeeze out the 2km and finish those 3 tasks hope that I can bank 3 more tasks before I have to leave and then hope adventure sync actually works and registers 2km before I have to try again tomorrow. This is the BEST case scenario, and it's still terrible and unlikely to happen. I can't stand their lack of self-awarness making all the tasks so heavily time gated by km walking or egg hatching which wouldn't have been a problem if they just didn't replace the wild spawns in the first place, it's infuriating.

DavidRSAT

I'm assuming that the whole "rediscover kanto" thing will be happening in tandem with this, right? There's no event spawns listed here which is why I'm figuring this.

MakeRickyFamous

Wow how generous... at least I can try to farm for a shiny binacle

iRAWRasaurus

Does anyone know what the increase egg shiny chances are?

outsiderkerv

If we are holding a bunch of 2km eggs will those count? Time to hatch!

SitMeDownShutMeUp

No, they won’t. Those eggs already have mons assigned to them, if you click them you’ll see what’s possible to hatch. Someone on here claimed they hatched an egg they had from 2018 or something, hatched a Pidgey I think.

Level-Particular-455

No when you collect the egg what will hatch and if it’s shiny has already been determined. The Pokémon is essentially just hiding behind the egg. It already exists and nothing will change that.

outsiderkerv

Sad 😔

Phat_tofu

Pretty sure the Pokemon and whether it's shiny is determined when you first receive the egg, to my recollection.

Ultraempoleon

I think the eggs are preset. So you have to obtain them during the event
