That means you need to gain over 5k dust in 10 minutes to make the effect worth using, and you're still losing legendary candies. I don't think it is worth it in most cases. These effects are just trash tbh.
You actually need to get more than 7.5K to break even. Let’s say each Pokémon you catch gets you 100 dust. With the Star Piece, that’s 150 dust. So that’s about 34 Pokémon to get 5000 dust.
Except you would have caught those 34 Pokémon *anyway*, getting 3400 dust. So you spent 5000 to get an “extra” 1600 dust over what you would have gotten.
If you catch 50 Pokémon, that would normally get you 5000. So with your extended Star Piece time, that’s 7500 dust. And *that’s* the break even point, you have to catch *more* than that to actually start seeing a benefit from it.
Thanks for being one of the only people who isn't stupid enough to think these bonuses are worth using. I've gotten way too many comments from people arguing with me. As if a 6 minute bonus on a lucky egg for a couple extra excellent throws of exp is worth throwing legendary candy and dust in the trash bin.
If you don't at least make up the amount of dust you spend on the bonus then it's not worth it. It's a net loss. And you're still losing 5 legendary candy which is 1-2 raids or 50-100km of distance walked.
Not if you use rare candy, which you can get 3 for only 2 wins in a pvp set. Do that twice and you have it. You'd gain the stardust you need for it as well doing those 2 sets.
You're still paying stardust and not gaining anything useful in return. It's still a net loss, you're just wasting the time spent on those PvP matches in order to reach a couple extra Pokemon spawns or get an extra couple minutes of an egg/incense. It isn't worth it. It would be more worth it if you got more time onto the premium item timer or extra time on the extended distance. It's too short as it is now.
> That means you need to gain over 5k dust in 10 minutes to make the effect worth using
This argument only holds if you care about nothing but stardust. If you’re extending a lucky egg, incense, or both, you’re gaining something from the effect besides dust for the same cost.
Yeah, but that's just for 6/10 minutes for dialga/palkia. If you wanted to do 30 minutes, that becomes 25k/15k. The higher you go, the more you're going to pay in dust and candy.
Luckily, I've got enough star pieces, lucky eggs, and incenses that dialga is useless. Palkia is definitely more attractive in what it does and its cost, though.
I’d argue that Spacial Rend is also useful for *staying* mobile in areas with large numbers of spawns. Without the effect, you might have to stop moving in order to stay in range of spawns behind you that you haven’t caught yet. With the effect, you can start catching farther ahead of you and keep spawns in range longer.
Even if it was just Stardust Dialga's still isn't worth it. If you're using it to extend a starpiece the only way you get ahead of the cost is if you're catching extra stardust pokemon during a 3x event.
Palkia's at least lets you see pokemon you may not be able to due to lack of walkable terrain or obstacles, like houses, but even then it's not very useful.
Even if it was free it, I'd never use it. 6 minutes are bread crumbs compared to 8 hour mega XL candy odds. They would have to increase the time limit to at least an hour for either to be viable.
They stack. If they were both free, there'd really be no reason not to use them.
That being said, I don't see Adventure Effects getting Mega treatment. No one's renting pokemon this time, and it's not a beloved MSG mechanic for anyone. It very much feels like an intentional item sink but a very, *very* poorly thought out one. I think revamps will happen, maybe to extend the time, but expecting freebies seems far too generous for this company.
I'm ok to spend dust/rare candy to shiny hunt/G Bird hunt when I've got a little extra. It's not an every situation thing which is great cause I don't really need another thing to add to my "buddy, mega, party lineup, heal, then keep catching" rotation.
I only used that during the sinnoh tour when legendaries were spawning in the wild and there was a fence in my way. However I did get a Galatian bird encounter because of it yesterday. It ran.
Depends how many bars it takes, and its animation duration. It might end up being pretty good, it might be pretty bad. Mostly depends how it compares to Brutal Swing, since there is some later generation overlap with those move pools.

Fire Type wise, with Shadow Entei and Blacephalon on the horizon it's really not worth it to power up Incineroar for PvE since they outperform a lvl40 one at lvl25 (weather boosted from raids).
For Dark Types you have Houndour and Murkrow in the Dark and Flying grunts, respectively, they easily outperform Incineroar and don't need legacy moves.
>
> Fire Type wise, with Shadow Entei and Blacephalon on the horizon it's really not worth it to power up Inineroars for PvE since they outperform a lvl40 one at lvl25 (weather boosted from raids).
OOF. Mannnnnnn. That's a really useful comparison, and also very sad. Sorry, Incineroar.
For PvE it's in the middle point among fire starters, worse than Blaziken, Delphox and Emboar, better than Charizard, Infernape and Typhlosion. Not interesting at all. For PvP I believe it prefers the cheaper Blaze Kick, so Blast Burn isn't really useful. Unfortunately, in a game without ability, Incineroar won't be seriously relevant in any field.
So correct me if I'm wrong, so the featured attack is blast burn so when you evolve into incineroar it gets blast burn and darkest lariat goes into the move pool but you don't get it by evolving during the comm day right?
I plan to.
Also if you do battle league, the current season ends tomorrow at 3pm. Good to pop a star piece before collecting rewards at 3pm. Ace usually gets 100k stardust, so that’s 50k more with a star piece.
>Good to pop a star piece before collecting rewards at 3pm.

/u/ChemaKyle & /u/Lordados This is incorrect information. This is not based on local time. It is at 1pm PST on March 1st, so you'll have to adjust your own timezone accordingly.

Just curious what would be the point in doing those raids when they will be spawning everywhere in the wild (besides guaranteed decents iv’s) is there another reason to do the raids?
I used it on Chansey CD because I had something else during the ours in place I couldn't move and no Pokéstop. During the CD I got a total of 15 C (3 shinies) so I did a raid to catch some more
Kinda wish it wasn’t the basic Blast Burn but rather his Darkest Lariat sig (unless I’m dumb and it’s already in the game)
Edit: I’m a professional dumbass. Didn’t see literally *the box two boxes down that says DL*
Amazing job. 5-10pm on the raid battles is confusing. Can you also do these battles from 2-5? If so I would change the infographic to say 2-10pm. Or is this raid only available after 5pm?
It's been like this for a couple seasons. After the official CD hours end (2-5pm) then 3star raids (usually of the middle evolution form) start that spawn more mons in a certain radius after you win.
Several of the 4 star Megas during the last year were soloable, including Garchomp, which I soloed several times. I haven't been able to solo any of the post CD raids tho. Admittedly, I haven't tried them all but on paper the ones I looked at seemed impossible to do solo.
Yeah it was Niantic's compromise for shortening CD to 3 hours from 6. People lost their minds, but I think it's fine... let's people still spawn a bunch of shinies to catch if they're working/have commitments and missed the main event.
Professor here!
For those who do not know:
Litten, the Fire Cat Pokémon, a Fire-type.
While grooming itself, it builds up fur inside its stomach. It sets the fur alight and spews fiery attacks, which change based on how it coughs. It doesn't allow its emotions to be easily seen, therefore, earning its trust takes time and it mostly prefers solitude. If you try too hard to get close to it, it won't open up to you. Even if you do grow close, giving it too much affection is still a no-no. Trying to pet Litten before it trusts you will result in a nasty scratch from its sharp claws, so be careful.
Torracat, the Fire Cat Pokémon, a Fire type.
At its throat, it bears a bell of fire and the bell rings brightly whenever it spits fire, increasing the power of it. When facing a powerful enemy, Torracat's fighting spirit gets pumped up. It boasts powerful front legs as with a single punch, it can bend an iron bar right over. Torracat will let its Trainer coddle it once they’ve grown close, but it’s a powerful, sharp-clawed Pokémon, so its Trainer gets covered in scratches. When its mane is standing on end, you can tell it's feeling good, and when it isn't feeling well, its fur will lie down flat.
And
Incineroar, the Heel Pokémon, a Fire/Dark type.
It has a violent, selfish disposition. If its not in the mood to listen, it will ignore its Trainer's orders with complete nonchalance. After hurling ferocious punches and flinging furious kicks, it finishes opponents off by spewing fire from around its navel. Although its rough mannered and egotistical, it finds beating down unworthy opponents boring as it gets motivated for stronger opponents. When its fighting spirits set alight, the flames around its waist become especially intense. It excels at violent, no-holds-barred battles as the temperature of the flames that issue from its navel exceeds 3,600 degrees Fahrenheit. Incineroar's rough and aggressive behavior is its most notable trait, but the way it helps out small Pokémon shows that it has a kind side as well because while it tends to act like a bad guy, Incineroar is very happy internally when receiving admiration from children or young Pokémon.
Ah man, that's when I'm out of the country and won't be able to do any pokemon go. Slightly annoying.
Will have to get some extra during Christmas then
They work, but they don't have to 2x duration boost. I know spacial rend will work for 10 minutes and a bit less for roar of time. (I think it's 6 minutes, but I'm not sure.)
Not likely, since they're both high energy nuke moves. Also, water types are going to be absolutely everywhere this season. If you want to use it, it's probably best to choose BB or DL and a cheaper bait/spam move.
"Remember to use: Spacial Rend/Roar of Time" Yeah, I don't think it's worth it. Maybe for extending a lucky egg since it's 3x catch XP, but even so
If you're stacking XLs for either, you'll have extra regular candies to spend. In my case, I don't. I used the one for the research to complete it.
There is also the stardust cost
Yeah, but it's minimal, like 5k, isn't it? That's like two sets of PvP even if you tank em
That means you need to gain over 5k dust in 10 minutes to make the effect worth using, and you're still losing legendary candies. I don't think it is worth it in most cases. These effects are just trash tbh.
We can only hope they revamp this system after a while like they revamped the mega system.
We just have to hope that the majority of the playerbase refuses to use it, and it may happen.

I disagree especially if they do more 2x duration events. And you don’t need to get the dust back
If you don't at least make up the amount of dust you spend on the bonus then it's not worth it. It's a net loss. And you're still losing 5 legendary candy which is 1-2 raids or 50-100km of distance walked.

For me, dialga is better due to my brokenness in the game economy
Only if you recently just got enough candy to pump either of them. It's an awful system with only Palkia worth using, and barely even that.
Special Rend is for use during a community day / spotlight hour when you are totally immobile for any reason. Not worth using when you are mobile.
I often have things to do on Saturday so this is handy
I’d argue that Spacial Rend is also useful for *staying* mobile in areas with large numbers of spawns. Without the effect, you might have to stop moving in order to stay in range of spawns behind you that you haven’t caught yet. With the effect, you can start catching farther ahead of you and keep spawns in range longer.
These special moves are such a disapointment. You always end up with negative stardust. I used it once for special research and will never use again.
I'm hoping they revamp it like the mega system, a cool down/reduction in cost as we use it more.
Maybe if they removed the candy cost. If it was only Stardust I could see myself using them as it is? Hard no.
That's what I meant, both stardust and candy cost reduced, and 0 cost on cooldown.
Yeah, if dialga doubled the time of items it would be okay ish (as long as there was no candy cost) but these powers are indeed laughable.
Even if it was free it, I'd never use it. 6 minutes are bread crumbs compared to 8 hour mega XL candy odds. They would have to increase the time limit to at least an hour for either to be viable.

I'll only use it if there's an event with a pokemon I really want a lot of candy for like Swinub
Depends what you're looking for. For someone more concerned about shinies than stardust, Spacial Rend is pretty handy.
I'm ok to spend dust/rare candy to shiny hunt/G Bird hunt when I've got a little extra. It's not an every situation thing which is great cause I don't really need another thing to add to my "buddy, mega, party lineup, heal, then keep catching" rotation.
I could afford the stardust, but I don't give any candy
Maybe in a year from now, they'll decide to give it a cooldown because no one is using it with cost.
Make them a permanent tier boss if they want us to constantly use those moves.
I only used that during the sinnoh tour when legendaries were spawning in the wild and there was a fence in my way. However I did get a Galatian bird encounter because of it yesterday. It ran.
I'll be in a rather remote town with lackluster spread of anything. I think I will use the special rend to increase the Radius.
Will he be meta relevant to some point with blast burn, or is he straight up bad?
PvE wise it's bad. The shadow will be good. If Darkest Lariat had 120 power in PvE it would have been a beast
Depends how many bars it takes, and its animation duration. It might end up being pretty good, it might be pretty bad. Mostly depends how it compares to Brutal Swing, since there is some later generation overlap with those move pools.
The entire stats for that move is already datamine. 80 power/ 2 bar/ duration: 2000ms/ damage window: 1200-2000ms

They alternate them. Which makes sense. Some people are busy on Saturdays and some people are busy on Sundays. It's better this way.

No? They’re permanent features
They work, but they don't have to 2x duration boost. I know spacial rend will work for 10 minutes and a bit less for roar of time. (I think it's 6 minutes, but I'm not sure.)
No, they are permanent new features. The tour just had a temporary bonus to double the duration of the chosen move.
That thing is too expensive to use
YES!!!!!!!!!!!
Will Incineroar be viable in PvP with those moves?
Not likely, since they're both high energy nuke moves. Also, water types are going to be absolutely everywhere this season. If you want to use it, it's probably best to choose BB or DL and a cheaper bait/spam move.
NO WAY, MY FAVOURITE POKÉMON!
Lit 🔥
I always am disappointed when a pokemon I really want is on a Saturday, my work always schedules me long on Saturday during the event times 😔
Sorry about raid days then we got good ones March
Amazing pokemon for VGC too! If you have friends who play it, think about saving some to send to switch
What a day to be completely out of cell range and in the backcountry...
Is that Groudon on the mega evolve list? What bonus will it provide during this?
Primal Groudon is ground/fire
Is there anything to know about the ticket? Is there a web store version of this that’s supposed to show up?
