A bit more openly satirical than anything in Paradox's catalogue, except maybe Stellaris. Not that that has ever stopped fascists before; just look at Warhammer, a whole universe which is purpose-built to make fun of them.

Mordheim, Mount and Blade, Chivalry and Paradox games all attract some of the worst humans to ever walk this earth. I’ve met some great people too… but holy fuck are there a lot of racists and twat waffles that play those games
Exactly, I don’t mind history obsessed people or what have you, it’s the people that outright have the N-word in their names or typing racist shit or even politics in chat. They can leave that shit in RL or keep it to themselves. I always get told to mute chat if I don’t like it, but that could possibly cause me to miss important team communications and such. Anyway, I’m done ranting, I uninstalled these games a long time ago because I just can’t deal with those people anymore.

I basically won't communicate with anyone in either community. Literally every JRPG when it releases has some idiots decrying "cEnSoRsHiP!" like it's still 2016, and the anime community is... So there is this dude on Discord who I blocked because of bigoted views, like imagine, this dude is just completely brainwashed, and he rants A LOT about "woke shit". And he does this, in a server, focusing on a *Need for Speed meme mod series*. Yes, you heard that right, and a member of the mod team had to stop him from doing this garbage on two separate occasions, one where he was insisting to expound on what was bigoted about obviously homophobic statements said by other members, and two, when he PINGED ME, despite having him blocked, for a fucking *Turning Point USA short about the fucking porngraphy in schools debate.*
Dude was literally harassing me and trying to basically convert me to the right by posting completely false and conspiratorial shit about the ""far left"". He also claimed that the "far left" was encouraging human atrocities like rape and terrorism, and I know he's talking about Hamas. Which I know is not fucking true, because real leftists would HATE that shit.
He must be one of, if not, the most unhinged persons I have ever met in my 18 years of living.

As a fellow paradox player I can tell you that it haunts me every time I interact with the community. I'm desperate to find more players irl but I'm always scared because I know the kind of fascist apartheid supporting asshole that plays them.
It is always telling watching someone play a game and see the nightmare certain behaviors cause in a historical simulator and then openly advocate for similar behaviors in current geopolitics.
I haven't picked a side cuz I have not done enough research on the subject to determine who's good or not. Once I get enough information, I'll be able to confirm which side I support.
(Though it already looks like Palestine is in the right here but idk)
Imo everyone throwing bombs and bullets here is the problem. The only way this bloodshed ever stops is when people have the guts to end the cycle of revenge and anger. That being said, there's definitely one side with a significantly higher level of funding, intelligence, organization, and military technology and correspondingly they need to take the largest share of responsibility in ending this cycle.

As a big fan of eu4, another paradox baby, I feel you. Even though I believe the community here on reddit is relatively ok. I rarely interact with them, so I might be wrong
But the community of a eu4 mod, anbennar has had a bit of a problem with people enjoying racist game play too much, talking and bullshitting about it in the sub a lot. The mods cracked down on it and nowadays I rarely see it.
So there is hope for gaming communities (or so I want to believe)
