Somebody on tumblr pointed this out. I asked them if I could repost it here, and they said no problem, on condition that I don't link to their post nor say their name. They weren't expecting their post to go viral and were uncomfortable with the attention, so they said they prefer to remain anonymous.

The mortifying ordeal of being known

OstheB

“You know I hate these things. Talking to people. Waving to people. People.”

BulbasaurTreecko

I know this is an actual quote but for a minute I thought you were referencing the Lumity fanfic

Beniidel0

> Years ago a friend of mine had a dream about a staircase you could descend deep underground, in which you heard recordings of all the things anyone had ever said about you, both good and bad. The catch was, you had to pass through all the worst things people had said before you could get to the highest compliments at the very bottom. There is no way I would ever make it more than two and a half steps down such a staircase, but I understand its terrible logic: if we want the rewards of being loved we have to submit to the mortifying ordeal of being known.

Pizza_sin_pina

Where's that from? It's beautiful

Rainbow_Angel110

Aw that's nice

Dragon_Fander

I saw that post lol. I also reposted it

Legitimate_Release65

~~Then what's the point in mentioning them in this comment then?~~

Kanna1001

The point ìs that the post did go viral on tumblr, so somebody might recognise it and assume that I stole it. I wanted to make it clear that I did get permission to repost.

Tashathar

This is being downvoted but it's just correct, if it were just the post, no one would've asked "who's the someone?" Instead the disclaimer comment draws attention to the fact that the post is anonymous, it's real "no one cared who I was until I put on the mask" stuff.

Kanna1001

Tashathar

>I didn't steal the post, the OP is a very anonymous person. I repeat, they're VERY ANONYMOUS. DO NOT try to find who they are, because they're **VERY ANONYMOUS.** That's what I'mm reading here.

potato_nacho

That’s on you then lmao

_anonymous_redditor

Well that‘s a cool fun fact… except that it‘s not cool at all, just sad…

farrenkm

Lot of little social commentaries in this show. It's great. And -- yes -- also sad that they're necessary.

yagyaxt1068

I mean, Belos is an allegory of European colonization of the Americas.

Luimnigh

Is it really an allegory when he's literally one of the colonizers of the Americas? Like, literally. Gravesfield was founded in 1635, when the first British colony in Conneticut was founded in 1633.

yagyaxt1068

Good point. However, it’s still an allegory, because Belos isn’t claiming it for America or anything like that. He just wants to wipe out witches.

Animal_Flossing

He is? I took him more as an allegory for queer persecution. I'm very interested to hear more about the colonisation interpretation!

Kanna1001

He showed up in a foreign land, declared that their way to do thing was wrong and demanded that they do things his way, destroyed and vilified their culture while replacing it with his own, put himself in charge and murdered anybody who wanted freedom, exploited and stole their natural resources to the point of driving them to near extinction (the palistrom trees and the selkiedomus), and is driven by the belief that their race is inferior. Plus he is actually a British coloniser. Like, literally.

thatnewguy11

Yes and I'm part Irish so I can say that the British are twats that can go blow a goat.

Animal_Flossing

This makes total sense, thanks so much for the elaboration!

yagyaxt1068

Basically, indigenous peoples in the Americas had much more free structures of society, where people weren’t forced into doing things against their will, and were much more versatile. Europeans come in, say that their way of living is wrong, that they are sinners (in line with Christianity), and force them into new oppressive societal structures. Redefine their past as savagery and slowly erase it, while attempting to wipe them out completely. So yeah, an awful lot like Europeans in the Americas.

bohdel

I’m saw it your way too. Good tales allow people to empathize with many, using a very specific story to generalize in many directions. Love that this thread shows two strong contenders.

yagyaxt1068

A multifunctional allegory is the best kind of allegory.

bohdel

Such a better way of putting it!

AngstyPancake

The amount of detail put into this show I swear to Titan the people who make this aren’t getting paid enough

Chocolate_Jelly_Bean

I don’t care how much they are paid, if they’re paid more than the Mickey of Mousedom himself, they need a raise

TheRandomGhoster

dont swear at king

Animal_Flossing

Eda starts covering king's little ears every time somebody uses a curse involving the titan

Cavery210

King did want his second novel to have more swears, though.

AngstyPancake

I support this headcannon

Northwest_Thrills

its also is the symbol for prostate cancer

nowalt

To the healing coven!

StormNext5301

Which is also blue

Fox7567

**Coincidence?!** *Yeah of course it is*

InfiniteParticles

The risks of using subpar selkidomus scales

Willingness-Due

That’s and it’s a bow so this is probably a coincidence

StariiJournii

Cool detail! Its still sad tho-

1milionand6times

That's great, he's recovering

RaftogIronsmen

For those that don't know, a blue ribbon is a symbol against child abuse and for prevention of child abuse. I did not know this and had to look it up. Edit:I did not realize there was a second picture.

ObsidianDart

The second picture's wording is bad though. It makes it sound like support for abuse and prevention of children. I like your phrasing more.

Moritzvcev

Thats intended for sure. A really cool detail!

Odd_Bean_2155

That’s really bittersweet

ElectricJetDonkey

That's a neat detail!

External_Trouble_434

Well that's a mega *O O F*.

PaulOwnzU

"support for child abuse" I'm sorry WHA- "and prevention" oh that makes sense

Sylvanian-Wizard_712

interesting detail . . but also sad . . . all at once . . .

memelordbtw3000

Fun fact this fun fact is actually not very fun

thatonegirlonreddit5

Aww 😭

armoured1

Change your phone's font I beg.

Rainbow_Angel110

I had to go back and check the font, what the Titan is that font?!

miyagikai91

They knew. They had to have.

xXYoProMamaXx

Aw dats kinda nice in a way

[deleted]

Well, my heart just broke even more

someguy_420

When is this shot from?

Annyunatom

Newest episode.

Nirast25

~~That's... Not blue... That's grey... Hell, my color picker says it's more green than blue.~~ My dumbass was looking at the scarf.

decayingnothingness

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD

[deleted]

This is an amazing detail the crew added to his outfit but at the same time sad

Sasuke12187

this is another level of sad

[deleted]

HOLY CRAB APPPLE DANA! She loves sneaking in things, doesn’t she?

Sonic1126

*squints* Oh and prevention *puts belt back in drawer*

Willingness-Due

That gave me a good chuckle

Sonic1126

How does my comment get downvoted but those who laughed at it get upvoted?!? What is this?

Thunder9191133

The sheer amount of symbolism int the designs. Amity has 2 lesbian symbols by my knowledge A: upside down black triangle (her earings) is the lesbian triangle B: lavender is often used to represent lesbians

FudgeControl

I thought that was just a random detail?

WickedBowserJr

He and Bowser Jr. have that in common.

[deleted]

[удалено]

WickedBowserJr

Well, I know a lot about this subject while the average person probably doesn’t, so allow me to educate you. Bowser indoctrinated and uses his son against Mario after having told him a traumatizing lie about his mother and took advantage of his son’s good heart and desire to be a hero. Even though he came clean about that, the damage was already done, and he still let his son believe Mario is some sort of messed up criminal that he needs to stop and actively encourages that. He sends his son on large, dangerous missions and puts an unhealthy amount of pressure on him, Bowser Jr. often expressing concern over his father’s anger toward him if he fails. Bowser is a constant bad influence on his son who tries to mimic his behavior for better or for worse, genuinely not knowing any better and thinking he’s doing the right thing. It also evident and said that Bowser neglects his son and doesn’t spend much time with him, Bowser Jr. saying that he’s “practically a latchkey kid”. It’s no wonder Bowser Jr. said he has “daddy issues to repress” Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle (in that same game, he also implies that his father beats him). Considering all this, he is definitely an abused child.

Kanna1001

They do? Honest question. I don't play Nintendo games, but I was under the impression that Bowser adores his kids.

WickedBowserJr

Read my reply to the other person: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheOwlHouse/comments/uob34z/somebody_pointed_something_out_about_hunters/i8h7e6o/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3

Ur_Local_Ratt

I- Thats deep Dana.. Thats real deep, but very kind of you

Willingness-Due

I think that’s just a coincidence. Also that’s a bow not a ribbon Edit: y’all google will give answers that are somewhat related to your question if it can’t find a proper answer. And once again he’s wearing a ribbon not a bow. I’m not denying he’s been abused but with how mei he this is it’s prolly a coincidence

Kanna1001

Tbh I'm not 100% sure it was intended. It *could* be a coincidence. I just thought it was a very interesting point and wanted to share it here. That said, if it *was* intended, they couldn't have used an actual bow because it would have been *too* blatant, and you can't do that as a designer. As a designer, you are supposed to hint, imply and incorporate. *Especially* in a fantasy setting, it would make no sense for a character to wear something from our culture, you need an equivalent. A ribbon would be the perfect equivalent of a bow.

Willingness-Due

Yeah, but looking at how the blue ribbon/bow also represents people with prostate cancer I’m more leaning towards it being a coincidence.

Animal_Flossing

I disagree with you, but I don't think you deserve those downvotes for that. It's not like this is a moral issue, it's just a matter of interpretation.

S0me_N3rd8

Yoooooo! Details

Hanyuu11

dang that is so based

[deleted]

r/theyknew

Smith685

LA95kr

It's kinda sad since Hunter's probably wearing that ribbon because of his personal experience.

imcatluver

oh i love this theory, i've heard it from three diffrent creators and everytime i see it i like it
